Netflix’s Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, the latest addition to Neeraj Pandey’s regional crime thriller franchise, will not impress you with its story beats or narrative twists—those are pretty predictable even for viewers who aren’t fans of the genre. The highlight, at least for folks who are somewhat familiar with the Bengali movie scene, is the talent pool of the series’ ensemble cast—comprised of the who’s who of the contemporary Bengali film industry. While the characterization is quite basic for a narrative that deals with the treacherous political landscape of West Bengal, some of the performances are memorable enough to warrant the series a watch.
