Leonard Hofstadter and Penny got engaged towards the end of season 7 of "The Big Bang Theory" after numerous failed attempts. Eventually, after being engaged for a whole year without making progress for their wedding, Leonard and Penny decide to elope and get married in Las Vegas in the season 9 premiere. A year later, Penny and Leonard decide to have a second wedding ceremony to renew their vows, but also to reconcile with their friends and family who were hurt they weren't invited to their first ceremony. After a hectic weekend, involving a feud between Leonard's parents and Sheldon's mother, Penny and Leonard renew their vows in an outdoor ceremony with all their friends and family present in the season 10 premiere.
