I haven't seen this in years. I remember being blown away by it though. Simply because I don't like dark, desperate, sad stories, on paper I shouldn't like this. For some reason, MoM just works. A simple thing that makes most of my 10 scores is that the characters were likeable and played by someone that makes them believable.
There is no great plot, or twist. It's just a tale of an unfortunate person's life but it has been done brilliantly.
