- Agnes and Jerry's relationship becomes distant when Agnes migrates to America.
- Painfully-shy Agnes (Lea Salonga) is extremely devoted to and dependent on her confident, free-spirited boyfriend Jerry (Aga Muhlach), an idealistic advertising executive. Their differences strengthen their relationship. Agnes then gets petitioned by her absentee mother based in California. Agnes flies abroad and struggles to survive in the US. Everything seems so difficult, especially since Jerry isn't with her. Meanwhile. Jerry spends his days without Agnes guiding his career and develops another relationship with Cynthia (Cherry Pie Picache). Agnes and Jerry's long-distance relationship is weakened until it falls apart. In the long run, Agnes learns to cope with the fast-paced American lifestyle: she gets a new place, car, and attitude. She becomes totally independent, almost emotionless. One day, Jerry is assigned to join an ad conference in New York. He pays a visit to Agnes with the hopes of winning her back. Can he reignite the flame or has distance totally blown it out?
- Agnes (played by Lea Salonga) is a timid and dependent woman living with her long-time boyfriend, Jerry (played by Aga Muhlach). When she receives an invitation to move to California with her estranged mother, Jerry encourages her to go, despite her reluctance, so he can focus on his career as an advertising executive. While in the U.S., Agnes struggles to adapt and makes several attempts to return home, but Jerry urges her to stay longer as he tries to save for their future marriage and support his family. He pushes her to find work, leading Agnes to take a job as a caregiver.
As time goes on, Agnes repeatedly asks Jerry to let her return, explaining that she now has enough money to support herself. However, Jerry insists that, as the man, he should be the one to provide for her. He gradually starts avoiding her, leaving Agnes even more distressed. The physical and emotional distance between them strains their relationship until it ultimately breaks down when Agnes, frightened and upset after a dangerous incident, is unable to reach Jerry for help.
Over time, Agnes becomes more self-sufficient and confident, working diligently until she secures a job as a real estate agent. Meanwhile, Jerry travels to the U.S. to win her back but is overwhelmed by the cultural differences, Agnes' success, and the changes in her personality. Despite their efforts to repair their relationship, Jerry realizes that he is not suited for the life they would lead in America. He decides to return to the Philippines, leaving Agnes behind.
A few days later, Jerry resumes his job at the advertising agency. After work, as he walks alone on a busy street, he notices someone familiar behind him-Agnes, who has returned to the Philippines. The two joyfully reunite and walk together, as the screen slowly fades out.
