Party Down star Adam Scott has explained why the show deserved to be canceled in its original run. The cult sitcom about a motley crew of caterers trying to make it in Hollywood has just been revived for a six-episode reboot season on Starz, which premiered on February 24. The original run of the series has garnered a sizeable cult following over the years, but it was initially canceled after two seasons back in 2010.

This week, Scott appeared on an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss his role in the Party Down revival. He explained that one reason the show got canceled, "rightly so," is the fact that its season 2 finale only garnered a paltry 13,000 viewers when it originally aired. He also explained that cancelation fit well into the downbeat ethos of the show, and that "if we won in any way, it just wouldn’t feel right.
