Mr Loverman and Mr Bates vs the Post Office were key winners at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards, which were handed out in London on Sunday evening. Netflix hit series Baby Reindeer, which had led the nominations with eight, followed by Disney+ series Rivals, AppleTV+ hit Slow Horses and ITV’s Mr Bates vs the Post Office with six each, earned one honor on Sunday.

With awards season all but done and dusted, Oscars. Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTAs all having been dutifully doled out over the past few months, this evening saw the BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — hosted by Avengers: Doomsday's Alan Cumming and held at London's Royal Festival Hall — take centre stage for a night of red carpet walking and shiny statue giving. And during a telecast in which the two most nominated shows — Netflix stalker thriller Baby Reindeer and ITV drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office — took home one award apiece, the likes of Mr Loverman, Shōgun, and Blue Lights all scored big wins in major categories.

On the night, Baby Reindeer's sole win saw Jessica Gunning's turn as Richard Gadd's crazed stalker Martha recognised in the Supporting Actress race, while Mr Bates Vs Post Office, which was elsewhere nominated in both Lead acting categories, took home the coveted accolade for Limited Drama.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented its 2025 TV Awards at the Royal Festival Hall in London, with a wide spectrum of talent recognized across drama, comedy, factual, and children’s programming. Hosted by Alan Cumming, the event was broadcast on BBC One domestically and streamed on BritBox in the United States, continuing the Academy’s emphasis on broad accessibility for international audiences.

This year’s selections showcased both returning series and first-time contenders. Several winners have already seen cultural ripple effects across the UK media landscape. This year’s ceremony celebrating all things television was held at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (May 11) in London, England.

BAFTA previously announced that ITV won the Special Award for commissioning Mr Bates vs The Post Office. Kirsty Wark, the former BBC Newsnight presenter, won the BAFTA Fellowship, the British Academy’s top accolade.

The BAFTA TV Awards were hosted by Alan Cumming, who currently hosts The Traitors on Peacock.

Mr Bates vs. the Post Office pulled off a victory over Netflix's Emmy-winning Baby Reindeer at the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday. The ITV drama that dominated U.K. ratings last year tells the story of hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses who were wrongly accused of theft, fraud, and false accounting due to a defective It system.

However, it wasn't all bad news for Baby Reindeer. Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner Jessica Gunning continued her impressive awards streak, scoring Best Supporting Actress, and bringing the limited series’ total to three wins, including writing and directing victories from the BAFTA TV Craft Awards on April 27.

Lennie James beat out the likes of Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer) and Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) to win Best Actor for Mr Loverman, in which he plays an exuberant, closeted family man who wants to end his marriage and live with his best friend.

The great and the good of the U.K. TV industry have descended on London’s Royal Festival Hall for the British small screen’s biggest night of the year, the BAFTA TV Awards.

Among the shows up for awards are Netflix’s smash hit “Baby Reindeer,” Apple TV+’s acclaimed spy series “Slow Horses,” HBO/BBC financial series “Industry,” Disney+’s raunchy comedy “Rivals” and its Ira drama “Say Nothing” and the ITV drama “Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office.” On the performance front, the likes of Gary Oldman, David Tennant, Richard Gadd, Marisa Abela, Nicola Coughlan and Danny Dyer are nominated.

Netflix's Emmy Award-winning Baby Reindeer led the 2025 BAFTA TV and Craft Awards nominations on Thursday with eight bids, including Best Limited Drama, a lead actor nomination for creator and star Richard Gadd, and two supporting actress nominations for Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau. The limited series won several honors last year and through the winter, including Emmy Award wins for Gadd and Gunning, and a Screen Actors Guild Award victory for Gunning.

As Monica's death makes the rounds on the news and Dreyer pushes the narrative of her responsibility of the Zero Day attack, Alex enters the war room in total stress. She asks, "Did we do this?" Do what, Alex? Be more specific! She knows that her father won't let Monica Kidder be the end of all of this. There's a loose thread and he will pull. She insists that they have to "come clean," but Dreyer is a menace.

The commission investigates Panoply's coding system and learns how Monica was able to widely spread the malware through app updates and Bluetooth. The coding had an AI engine, which seems just as scary as anything else. Mullen asks if she could have done this on her own, but he doesn't get the answer he was looking for.

The thriller features De Niro as George Mullen, a former president who, in the wake of a devastating cyber attack, is appointed by the current president (Angela Bassett) to lead a commission tasked with finding who’s behind the attack. She tells Mullen that Congress will give the commission powers of “surveillance [and] search and seizure.”

“So they’re just gonna grab people off the streets without warrants,” he replies. “Actually, you are,” she replies. Later, the president says, “People believe what they need to believe. The truth is the truth, but it’s not always the most important thing” — hinting at the conspiracy-thriller elements of the show.
