Two And A Half Men: 5 Times Alan Was An Overrated Character (& 5 He Was Underrated)
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Mon oncle Charlie (2003)
Appearing in every episode Two And A Half Men, Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) was one of the funniest characters in the show. Even though he was broke most of the time and not lucky when it came to relationships or anything, his sarcasm, and sense of humor made him one of the well-liked characters in the show.

Despite playing the main role, he was constantly disrespected and looked down on especially with Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) and Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher) being way more successful than him. In conclusion, Alan was a full-rounded character who was treated the way he deserved to be sometimes and not some other times.

Two And A Half Men: 5 Times Charlie Was An Overrated Character (& 5 He Was Underrated)
Charlie Sheen
The character Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) in the American sitcom Two And A Half Men was portrayed to have a fun lifestyle, at least the kind the men around him envied at times. Comparing his brother Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) who struggled financially despite his hard work as a chiropractor, Charlie stayed home composing jingles and drinking alcohol, and he was still way wealthier than Alan.

As much as the series showed the perks of being him and having that desirable Malibu beach house lifestyle, the downfalls were also shown. In that regard, there were times Charlie was overrated, and times he was not.

Two And A Half Men: 10 Things About Judith That Would Never Fly Today
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Mon oncle Charlie (2003)
Two And A Half Men is one of Chuck Lorre's most popular and funniest sitcoms. With the show focusing mainly on Alan Harper (Jon Cryer), Jake Harper (Angus T. Jones), Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen), and Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher), the other characters in the show are mostly seen from their perspective. On that note, Judith (Marin Hinkle) is one of these characters.

When it comes to Two And A Half Men's Jake Harper (Angus T.Jones), the audience witnessed him grow through the 12-seasons-series. We saw the way his uncle Charlie Harper's (Charlie Sheen) lifestyle impacted Jake's dating life. Adding to it, his dim-witted personality delivered so much humor throughout the show.

Two and a Half Men: 10 Things About Evelyn That Would Never Fly Today
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Mon oncle Charlie (2003)
Among the other recurring characters in the show Two And A Half Men, Evelyn Harper (Holland Taylor), who is the mother of Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) and Alan Harper (Jon Cryer), was a bit flat in terms of characterization. Throughout the show, she was used as a scapegoat to give reasoning to Charlie's womanizing lifestyle. She is portrayed to be toxic and very self-absorbed, having not paid much attention to her sons when they were young.

Even her one positive trait as a good real estate agent is nullified with her insensitive way of listing apartments at funerals. Jon Cryer Honors Fellow Lex Luthor Gene Hackman for His 90th Birthday
Jon Cryer
From one Lex Luthor to another, Jon Cryer honored Gene Hackman on the veteran actor's birthday with a touching tweet about their shared role. On Twitter, Cryer retweeted a Gif of Hackman accompanied with a caption referring to the actor as the greatest criminal mastermind of all time. "Happy Birthday, Uncle Lex!" Cryer writes in his retweet, acknowledging Hackman's 90th birthday and their bond as Lex Luthor actors. Referring to Hackman's skills at playing villainous roles, Cryer also accurately adds: "Nobody does it better."

In DC Comics lore, Lex Luthor is a wealthy businessman and criminal mastermind who just so happens to be Superman's arch-nemesis. Starring opposite Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, Hackman first began appearing as Lex in Richard Donner's original Superman movie in 1978. He would reprise the role in 1980 for Superman II before playing the supervillain for a third and final time in the 1987 sequel...

Two And A Half Men: The 10 Worst Things Alan Has Ever Done, Ranked
Two and a Half Men, the Chuck Lorre sitcom that spanned 12 seasons, ended a few years ago on a less-than-high note. But that doesn't mean it's been forgotten, especially since it often came under controversy for the various themes it portrayed, as well as some behind-the-scenes controversies with the notorious actors. Charlie Sheen is one of the most well-known examples.

Some of those on-screen controversies related to one of the two and a half men themselves, Alan. Alan Harper is arguably a terrible person. For many reasons. In fact, the majority of the people on Two and a Half Men are terrible people. Some may have redeeming qualities, but ultimately, there are few we really feel empathy for. Maybe Herb, or Jake when he's young and innocent. But definitely not most of the (adult) main characters.

We know that Charlie isn't a good person. That's kind of the whole shtick with his character.

Myers-Briggs® Personality Types Of Two And A Half Men
Running for 12 seasons, Two and a Half Men was a hilarious sitcom following the escapades of brothers Charlie and Alan Harper and Alan's son Jake, all of whom live in Charlie's Malibu beach house after Alan's wife leaves him. Making regular appearances in the show is sharp-tongued housekeeper Berta, Charlie and Alan's vain mother Evelyn Harper, Charlie's obsessive stalker Rose, and Alan's ex-wife Judith.

With such a long list of dynamic characters—along with Charlie's departure from the show and subsequent replacement by Walden (played by Ashton Kutcher)—this show has provided viewers with plenty of humorous encounters over the years. Let's take a look at the Myers-Briggs® personality types of the characters that this show has to offer.

The CW Has Cast Its Lex Luthor For Supergirl Season 4
While the DC Universe still struggles on the big screen, The CW’s universe only seems to be getting more and more ambitious as the series goes on. Not only does Supergirl have a Superman and Lois Lane in the form of Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, but the show will soon be debuting its take on iconic villain Lex Luthor, as played by Emmy-winning Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer. And you won’t even have to wait that long until you get to see him, either, as the actor’s set to make his first appearance in the role in the 15th episode of the fourth and current season, which is scheduled to air in early January next year.

Now, Cryer doesn’t seem like an obvious choice for the character, given that he’s most famous for his role as chiropractor Alan Harper on Two and a Half Men.

Jon Cryer Set as Lex Luthor in CW’s ‘Supergirl’

Charlie Harper's daughter to be new series regular on 'Two and a Half Men'

With the ‘half’ of Two and a Half Men off the cast of the CBS sitcom, there’s room for a new character when the show returns this fall without Angus T. Jones as a series regular. That new role will be Charlie Harper’s long-lost daughter. Deadline first reported the news.

‘Two & A Half Men’ Adds New Series Regular — Charlie Harper’s Long Lost Daughter
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Mon oncle Charlie (2003)
Exclusive: Charlie Harper had an offspring?! CBS‘ Two And A Half Men will look more like Two Guys And A Girl next season. I’ve learned that the veteran comedy, which earlier this month was renewed for an 11th season, will introduce a new female series regular character next fall. The role, a high-profile gig for a young actress, will bring in a major plot twist to the show: I hear the girl, in her late teens or early 20s, shows up on Walden Schmidt’s (Ashton Kutcher) doorstep searching for her father. She claims to be a daughter of the house’s previous owner, recently departed perennial bachelor Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen). I hear the girl will eventually move in with Walden and her uncle Alan Harper (Jon Cryer). The new character is expected to fill the void left by the departure of Alan’s son Jake as Angus T. Jones...

Gripe Focus: Comedy At The Emmys Remain A Bad Joke
It’s a shame that the path of the television year must end on the Emmys, the awards show contained several highs, many lows and just some unfathomable results. Frustration, celebration, and embarrassment come to mind when mentioning the 2012 Emmys. Is it different any other year? No, not really. But its results sour the memory of a great year in television, right as we’re about to usher a new season this week at BuzzFocus. There were more deserving shows that were nominated but for whatever reasons unknown, the powers that be don’t agree.

The Academy of Television Arts & Science in some instances can look rather progressive. One minute they appear to have their shit together one moment–honoring Showtime’s Homeland, Outstanding Drama Series–but at the same time have their heads up their collective asses when they awarded ABC’s Modern Family nearly every major piece of hardware it could qualify for.

Elsewhere, Aaron Paul won his second Emmy for his supporting performance as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for Veep. Modern Family still took the Outstanding Comedy Series, however, while the HBO movie Game Change took the Outstanding Mini-Series or TV Movie. Kevin Costner did manage to pick up some...

DVD Review: Mediocre Release For Reboot Season of ‘Two and a Half Men’
Chicago – It’s funny that after all of the build-up, all of the headlines, and all of the hype that the ninth season of “Two and a Half Men” proved to be so lackluster. Once the dust had cleared on Hurricane Sheen and Ashton Kutcher had moved into the lead role, the show went through some serious growing pains in its first revamped year. I like Kutcher, Jon Cryer has always been good, and there’s reason to believe year two of this reboot will more creatively consistent (and a Powerhouse ratings hour now that it’s been paired with “The Big Bang Theory” on Thursday nights) but the lackluster special features and the so-so episodes make for a DVD release for fans only.

Rating: 3.0/5.0

I was hoping that there would be some insight into the process that led to showing Charlie Sheen the door and bringing Ashton Kutcher into...

Focusing On Charlie Sheen’s ‘Anger Management’ as FX Orders 90 More Episodes
It’s true, I like Anger Management and no, it didn’t happen overnight. While I’ve been a major supporter of FX’s comedy lineup, it’s definitely not made in the same cloth as It’s Always Sunny, Archer, The League, Louie or Wilfred (all of which are vastly different from each other). It was never billed to ape a certain tone or look like any of its older siblings at FX, it was created to lure fans of Two and a Half Men who chanted for Charlie Harper’s return, as well as viewers looking for a simple, entertaining comedy. Why? Ratings for one. The series delievered 4.53 million total viewers (2.5 million in the 18-49 demo) for several weeks before the Olympics altered ratings in August. FX will take those kind of numbers any day. Louie dreams of those numbers. Anger Management got a 10-90 deal, which meant...

Dutch ‘keeper Tim Krul has been handed the number 1 jersey as expected after an exceptional season last year, while new signing Vurnon Anita has landed the number 8 shirt, with fellow new signings Gael Bigirimana, Romain Amalfitano and Curtis Good picking up the 10, 17 and 33 shirts respectively.

Meanwhile there’s no allocated numbers for either Xisco or Nile Ranger, and youngsters Adam Campbell, Michael Richardson and Remie Streete also miss out.

The rest of the squad remains mostly the same from last season, with the iconic number 9 shirt given once more to Papiss Cisse and compatriot Demba Ba again handed the number...

Hinkle, who guest starred in the pilot of the mystery soap, has been upped to a regular and will continue on the series, slated to launch in midseason. Infamous, from Universal TV and BermanBraun, centers on a female detective (Meagan Good) who returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled Lawson family she grew up in — as the maid’s daughter — to solve the murder of the notorious heiress Vivian Lawson who was once her closest friend. Hinkle plays the wife of the Lawsons’ oldest child (Tate Donovan), the smart and cold CFO of Lawson Pharmaceuticals. The role of the other Lawson brother, Julian, is being recast. Emmys: Jon Cryer On ‘Two And A Half Men’
Ray Richmond is a contributor to AwardsLine Jon Cryer probably deserves an Emmy just for surviving with his sanity intact after the much-publicized tumult of the past 16 months on Two And A Half Men. After losing one co-star (Charlie Sheen) and welcoming another (Ashton Kutcher), Cryer is not only still standing but was rewarded in May with a 10th season pickup by CBS. And after having received six consecutive Emmy noms as a supporting player for his role as Alan Harper (including a win in 2009), the 47-year-old actor has decided to switch categories this year back to lead actor. Awardsline: Congratulations on the 10th season pickup. You couldn’t have been all that surprised. Jon Cryer: Well, we’ve kind of been thinking of this now as a new show in many respects. Plus, I mean, this business has no rules anymore. I don’t know if you’ve noticed.

Charlie Sheen 'honoured' to be played by Kathy Bates
Charlie Sheen is 'honoured'that Kathy Bates will play his ghost on 'Two and a Half Men'. The troubled actor was fired from the sitcom last year partway through its eighth series after a fall out with its co-creator Chuck Lorre over his hedonistic lifestyle, and bosses plan to bring back the spirit of his character Charlie Harper in the new series who will be portrayed by the 'Misery' star. According to TMZ.com, Charlie has told friends he thinks Kathy is an incredibly funny, talented actress and he can't wait to tune in to watch the episode on April 30 in which Charlie's brother Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) sees the ghost after landing in hospital with a minor heart-attack. Perhaps...

Charlie Sheen's Character To Return To 'Two And A Half Men'... As Kathy Bates
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Mon oncle Charlie (2003)
It's getting spooky (and surprising!) on "Two And A Half Men," as the character of Charlie Harper - formerly played by Charlie Sheen - returns.

The most surprising part of the character's return is that Kathy Bates will be playing him!

CBS announced that the character - who was killed off on the season premiere - returns after Alan Harper (Jon Cyrer) suffers a minor heart attack and is visited by Harper's ghost in the hospital.

Bates, who is obviously female and almost 20 years older than Sheen - who is currently working on his own ...

'Two and a Half Men' Casts Kathy Bates as the Ghost of Charlie Harper
"Two and a Half Men" will bring back Charlie Harper with a twist. The ghost of Charlie Sheen's character will appear in an upcoming April 30 episode in the form of a woman, "Harry's Law" star Kathy Bates, to visit Jon Cryer's Alan Harper in a hospital after he suffers from a minor heart attack.

Charlie was killed off in early season 9 of "Men" following Sheen's firing. Ashton Kutcher has since been brought in as the new lead actor, playing internet billionaire Walden Schmidt who lives in Charlie's house.

When Walden wanted to redecorate the beach house in a November outing, Alan started griefing again and completely lost it that he considered himself his brother Charlie. This led to him being institutionalized.

CBS has yet to announce whether "Men" is renewed for a new season. The network recently said it's in "preliminary discussion" regarding the future of the starring sitcom.

’2.5 Men’ Producers & Stars On Renewal, Ashton Kutcher’s Return, Jake’s Graduation
Diane Haithman contributes to Deadline’s TV coverage At tonight’s PaleyFest panel on Two And A Half Men, co-creators/executive producers Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn and star Ashton Kutcher wouldn’t give a straight answer as to whether Kutcher will be back next season. Kutcher has been in talks for a new deal, which would seal the series’ renewal for a tenth season. “Here’s the thing, I don’t think that the show’s been picked up for another year,” Kutcher told moderator Michael Schneider of TV Guide Magazine. “I’m absolutely adoring the time that I’m having, but I haven’t heard from the powers that be yet, so I don’t know.” Lorre also was coy, saying the decision “is above my pay grade.” On the renewal front, “It’s unusual when they cancel a show that’s in the Top 10. I think there’s hope,...

Exclusive: Jon Cryer leaps up to lead Emmy race
Jon Cryer
Gold Derby has exclusively learned that Jon Cryer is jumping up into the lead Emmy race for Best Comedy Actor after competing for the past six consecutive years in the supporting category for his role as Alan Harper on "Two and a Half Men." He won in 2009. It isn't the first time Cryer has attempted to land a lead slot. For the first two years of the CBS laffer in 2004 and 2005, both Cryer and longtime star Charlie Sheen were submitted as lead actors; neither was nominated. Starting in 2006, the two men stopped competing against each other, and Sheen was nominated four times as the only lead while Cryer has been nodded every year since in supporting. Make Your Emmy Predictions: Who Will Win Best Comedy Actor? Forecast all races. Compete against experts! Make Your Predictions! Cryer's rep confirmed that he will make the new category switcheroo, but Cryer declined Gold Derby's request for explanation.

Results Rundown: The Help Takes Top Prizes At The SAG Awards, Throwing The Oscars Open?
Whilst we were sleeping last night, the 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held out in L.A., one of a handful of awards ceremonies that have proven useful in the past in the predictions ahead of the Academy Awards, coming this year on 26th February.

Tate Taylor’s The Help had four nominations, and took home three of the top prizes (and since two of its nominations were in the same category, I’d say the film did a pretty good job).

Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer both won in their respective Leading and Support Female Actor categories, and very interestingly, the film beat the likes of The Artist, The Descendants, Bridesmaids, and Midnight in Paris in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category, the top prize of the night.

This could potentially throw the Oscars open, at least a little, with both The Artist...

'Two And A Half Men': Alan's Crotch Fire
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Mon oncle Charlie (2003)
Did that really just happen? If this sticks, "Two and a Half Men" (Mon., 9:30 p.m. Est on CBS) just changed the dynamics of Alan's life forever. After Walden got overwhelmed and outvoted by Bridget and his mother, Zoey found a loophole in the company bylaws that would allow him to regain control.

He could add a fourth person to the board, and he gets any tie-breaking vote. Needing someone pathetic and willing to back his every decision, suddenly Alan Harper is on the board of a multi-million dollar company. He's not getting paid like one necessarily, but $50,000 a year is plenty for Alan to start fixing his life.

The biggest thing, though, was at the end when Walden gave Alan his name on the house. It doesn't look like the dynamics of the relationship or living arrangements will change either, but it's as if suddenly Walden is going...

Nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
The Screen Actors Guild has announced their list of nominations for the best performances of 2011. I have to point out that I'm surprised Tom Hardy and Joel Edgarton weren't nominated for their roles in Warrior, because they were pretty damn awesome in that film. I think they deserved a nom more than Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm a huge fan of DiCaprio but his performance in J. Edgar wasn't his best. Brad Pitt will end up taking home the award for Moneyball though. It was great to see Bridesmaids and The Help get a nomination for best ensemble cast. It will be interesting to see who takes home the award on this list, and how many of them will make their way to the Oscars.

Who would you like to see take home the award?

Here's the full press released with the list of Nominations:
