War in Abkhazia 1992–93

La Guerre de Géorgie, dans la région de l'Abkhazie, en 1990. Un estonien, Ivo, est resté pour récolter sa production de mandarines. Lors d'un conflit sanglant survenant devant sa porte, un homme blessé est laissé pour compte. Ivo est obligé de l'abriter.

This is the story of the Tbilisi-Batumi train, which, due to a switchman's mistake, first enters the line of occupation of the Georgian region of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, then the train enters the city of Chiatura.

Abkhazia, Afghanistan, Chechnya are our heroes where others cannot pass. The war has reached the very borders of Russia. The former republics of the Union are on fire. But there are landing troops, and there are no impossible tasks. Stronger than personal adversity and impending disintegration is their will to win.

The Soviet Union has collapsed. Civil and ethnic wars have broken out in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, three republics in the Caucasus. The post-Soviet Caucasus have turned into one large conflict zone. Two radically different people with different ideals, problems, and goals are united by the conflict zone. Gogliko, a Tbilisi street boy, and Spartak, a Sukhumi sniper, are forced to solve problems of the street and problems of the state together. For one, the goal is to get back the money he lost gambling; for the other, it is to carry out a general's absurd military mission. In spite of it all, their paths cross and their lives are changed forever.

A young refugee and his mother flee war and ethnic cleansing in the breakaway Georgian region of Abkhazia, leaving his father behind. After arriving in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, the young boy encounters difficulties with his mother, and begins a lonely journey back to Abkhazia to find his father.

Two families have physically survived the 'real' war, but are incapable of building a new life in peace: war continues in everyday life because the chaos is inside human beings.
