A Working Man and Jason Statham’s war on dandyism
Image
Jason Statham faces his most daunting opponent yet in his new action thriller, A Working Man: the wardrobe department.

Nb: The following contains spoilers for A Working Man.

The things we see in movies are seldom placed there by accident. From the specific positioning of a light to the books on a protagonist’s shelf, even the smallest details are generally by design rather than happenstance. Which helps explain some of the more outlandish wardrobe choices in A Working Man, the latest opus from Jason Statham.

In action terms, A Working Man has quite a pedigree behind it. It’s the second collaboration between Statham and director David Ayer; their previous film was 2024’s silly, deliriously enjoyable outing, The Beekeeper. Their latest creative pairing is based on a script by Sylvester Stallone, adapted from the 2014 novel Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon.

Unfortunately, despite all the commonalities between the two – including...

Paramount May Usher In a Big Change to Hollywood’s Ruling Class (Guest Column)
Image
Family offices have long been part of Hollywood’s DNA, quietly shaping its most iconic moments and technological progress. Paramount Pictures was one of Hollywood’s first family-controlled studios under business titan Adolph Zukor, who developed the vertical integration approach, ensuring that ambitious films like Wings (1927), the first Oscar winner, got the resources and distribution they needed to succeed.

The recent David Ellison-Paramount Global deal is a prime example of how private wealth is returning to Hollywood to once again play a pivotal role in shaping Hollywood’s future with a blend of technology, creativity and flexible capital. Family offices now command financial firepower on par with the world’s largest media giants (the Ellison family’s net worth currently sits around $200 billion — greater than the market cap of Comcast and on par with that of Disney), but unlike those media giants, family offices can make billion dollar...

Wiseguy: Jonathan Banks reprising his role from the ’80s TV series for a new feature film
Stephen J. Cannell
Stephen J. Cannell created or co-created a whole lot of popular TV shows, including The Rockford Files, The A-Team, Renegade, The Greatest American Hero, 21 Jump Street, and The Commish. Somewhere in the mix was the crime drama series Wiseguy, which Cannell co-created with Frank Lupo. That show aired on CBS for a total of 75 episodes over four seasons, running from 1987 to the end of 1990… and industry scooper Jeff Sneider of TheInSneider.com hears that it’s getting a feature film revival, with Jonathan Banks (who is best known these days for playing hitman and fixer Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad) on board to reprise his role from the original series!

Sneider’s sources inform him that The Pope’s Exorcist producers Sophie Cassidy and Jeff Katz are joining forces with Stephen J. Cannell Productions to bring the Wiseguy movie to the screen. In case you need a refresher, the...

The Amateur Box Office: Rami Malek’s Spy Thriller Nears $100M Worldwide
Image
The Amateur Box Office(Photo Credit –20thcenturystudios)

The Amateur quietly held its ground like a seasoned underdog, while Final Destination: Bloodlines soaked up most of the spotlight with a thunderous box office debut. The Rami Malek-led film didn’t ride in on any franchise glory, but it chipped away at expectations week after week.

The movie stacked up a respectable $40 million in the US and nudged close to $100 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo. Honestly, it’s no small feat in a landscape where even star-led action flicks like A Working Man barely make it past the finish line with similar totals.

The Amateur: A Low-Key Spy Thriller

Unlike other flashy thriller movies, The Amateur leans into its old-school espionage roots. Rami Malek leads the charge here with the quiet weight of an actor returning to a lead role after a long gap. His supporting turns in mega-hits...

'Snow White' Conjures a Home Media Release Date
Image
Snow Whiteis making its way to Digital and Blu-ray this June. Despite a disappointing performance at the global box office earlier this year, Disney is ready for audiences to enjoy this live-action remake in the comfort of their homes. Marc Webb directed what promised to be a modern, enchanting version of the story that launched the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The result was critically panned, and the Rachel Zegler-starring film was relentlessly review bombed. The launch of Snow White on Disney+ will come at a later date, with the company currently focused on the home media release of the film on June 24.

Snow White followed the titular princess as she tried to escape from the claws of the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot). The monarch wanted to prove that she was the fairest person in the entire kingdom, with the young princess standing in the way of her goal.

‘The Amateur’ Races Jason Statham’s 49% Rotten Tomatoes Action Film to $100 Million at Global Box Office
Image
While Final Destination Bloodlines dominated the box office chatter this weekend with an exemplary performance, 20th Century Studios’ The Amateur continued to provide textbook counter-programming. The movie’s workmanlike performance across the last month or so has yielded $40 million at the domestic box office and nearly $100 million worldwide. Not too many films these days are able to hit such numbers; case in point, the recent Jason Statham action vehicle A Working Man, which seems to have ended its run with just under $100 million globally.

And although The Amateur hasn’t hit the coveted milestone yet either, there’s no denying that it’s a less glamorous affair than a new Statham film. For one, it’s a grown-up espionage thriller and not a mass-market action movie. For another, it stars Rami Malek, and not a movie star who is generally considered to be a genre unto himself. Malek has an Oscar under his belt,...

‘The Accountant 2’ Passes Ben Affleck’s Sports Drama with 97% Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score
Image
If this year has proven one thing, it’s that older men can usually be counted on as a potentially lucrative box office demographic. They’ve turned up in droves to watch films such as A Working Man and The Amateur — the two movies have grossed a combined total of nearly $200 million worldwide — and have pushed The Accountant 2 towards the coveted $100 million mark worldwide as well. Directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Ben Affleck, the movie will almost certainly fall short of its predecessor, but its performance so far cannot be overlooked.

With $58 million domestically and another $31 million from overseas markets, The Accountant 2 has grossed a total of $90 million globally so far. With $100 million in clear sight, the movie can probably only be slowed down if Amazon decides to debut it on the Prime Video streaming service. Unlike the first film, which was distributed by Warner Bros., the...

The Accountant 2 North America Box Office: Amazon MGM Scores Its 3rd Highest-Grossing Film!
Image
Ben Affleck’s The Accountant 2 Becomes Amazon MGM’s Third-Highest-Grossing Film (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Amazon MGM has been quietly building a cinematic arsenal over the past few years, and with only 15 films under its belt, the studio is already leaving a serious mark. The Catalog, which boasts stylish thrillers like Saltburn, A Working Man, and The Beekeeper, leans heavily into bold choices and has focused on making each release count. And now, The Accountant 2, a sequel nobody asked for but everyone seems to be watching, has edged its way into third place on the studio’s all-time domestic (North American) box office chart.

The Accountant 2 Becomes A Domestic Box Office Standout

The film’s climb has been steady rather than spectacular. After another decent weekend run, pulling in $6.7 million across over 3,400 screens in the domestic market, the total North American haul now stands at $53.5 million (per Box...

Jason Statham's New & Underrated Action Thriller Quietly Joins Prime Video, but There's a Catch
Image
Jason Statham's newest movie, A Working Man, didn't have the performance it deserved when it was screened in theaters this year. It will now be available to more viewers on streaming, though there's a catch.

Per the Express, A Working Man has been made available to stream in Prime Video in the UK. This is very exciting news for fans of the actor in the UK, as the film has only seen a theatrical release in the United States. A Working Man has also been available digitally in the U.S. for rental or purchase. However, the catch of the film getting made available for Prime Video subscribers in the UK is that it's still not yet there for those in the U.S.

Currently, it's still unknown when A Working Man will become free to watch for Prime Video subscribers stateside, though it may be worth the digital...

The Accountant 2 Climbs Amazon's All-Time Highest Grossing Movie Chart At The Domestic Box Office
Image
The action sequel The Accountant 2, which sees Ben Affleck reprising his role as autistic action hero Christian Wolff opposite returning co-stars Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and J. K. Simmons, is climbing an important box office chart. The Accountant 2 opening weekend was underwhelming, with a $24.5 million domestic gross seeing it debut at No. 3 behind the second weekend of Sinners and the 20th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. It also had a harsh 61.3% drop during its sophomore weekend, but it has since leveled out and continued to climb the domestic chart.

Per The Numbers, The Accountant 2 has hit a domestic box office total of $53.6 million, just ahead of its fourth weekend in theaters. This is enough for it to surpass the $52.6 earned by George Clooney's 2023 rowing movie The Boys in the Boat and the $50.1 million earned by Luca Guadagnino's 2024 tennis drama Challengers,...

Ben Affleck's Latest Just Became Amazon MGM's Third Highest Grossing Movie Domestically Ever
Image
Over the past three years, Amazon MGM's catalog of blockbusters has been growing from strength to strength. From Jason Statham-led and David Ayer-directed action flicks A Working Man and The Beekeeper to viral hits like Saltburn, the newly merged production company are behind some of the most talked-about movies of the 2020s so far. Although they boast just 15 movies to date, all are worthy of merit, making it even more impressive when learning that Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's hotly anticipated sequel, The Accountant 2, has officially become the company's third highest-grossing movie at the US box office.

This brand-new milestone comes after another relatively strong weekend at the domestic box office, with the sequel taking home $6.7 million from 3,402 theaters nationwide and finishing fourth in the overall weekend box office rankings. The film has now also officially recovered its reported budget of $80 million, making the possibility...

The actor and martial artist continues to fly the flag for crowd-pleasing, no-nonsense action fare, with The Beekeeper star delivering his own take on Liam Neeson’s Taken in A Working Man, which finds The Stath tracking down his friend's daughter after she’s suddenly kidnapped. Jason Statham's Thriller Movie Collaboration With Sylvester Stallone Trends On Streaming 12 Years Later
Image
Jason Statham’s thriller movie collaboration with Sylvester Stallone is a streaming hit 12 years later. Stallone and Statham have shared the screen four times, playing mercenary comrades Barney and Christmas in the Expendables series.

The Expendables stars’ numerous collaborations indeed represent a union of two different movie eras. Stallone was the co-ruler of 1980s action, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Statham established his own stoic action-hero persona beginning with his early Guy Ritchie films, and continuing through a string of hard-hitting vehicles, culminating with his arrival as a big-budget franchise stalwart in the Fast & Furious series.

Stallone And Statham’s Homefront Is A Hit On Streaming 12 Years Later Stallone Produced And Statham Starred

After doing two Expendables movies together, Stallone and Statham teamed up again for Homefront, an action-thriller co-written by Stallone and directed by Gary Fleder, that 12 years later is trending on streaming. Stallone also served as a producer on the film,...

First ‘Nobody 2’ Trailer Sends Bob Odenkirk on a Bloody Vacation
Image
It’s been more than four years since Bob Odenkirk proved he wasn’t Nobody with his thrilling and hilarious action film, and now Universal Pictures has released the best look yet at its sequel. The studio unveiled the first official trailer for Nobody 2, which returns Odenkirk to his role of Hutch Mansell and also sees Connie Nielsen and Christopher Lloyd reprise their roles as Becca and David Mansell. Nobody 2 sends the Mansell family on a vacation to get away for some family time, but Hutch somehow finds himself pulled back into the thick of it. The first Nobody earned a “certified fresh” 84% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience-driven Popcornmeter lands at a “verified hot” 94%. The film also grossed $57 million at the global box office against a $16 million budget.

Jason Statham’s ‘A Working Man’ Will Fall Short of a Major Box Office Milestone as Its Theatrical Run Comes to an End
Image
Although Jason Statham's latest action flick is steadily climbing the streaming charts, the British brute's second collaboration with director David Ayer, A Working Man, is still finding small box office success in a reduced theater count, still open in 88 theaters nationwide across the most recent weekend. However, from these theaters, the movie only managed to return $37,000, solidifying the film's position in box office rankings with no milestones left to cross before it eventually leaves theaters for good. This includes a particular milestone that many had predicted it could achieve, namely hitting the $100 million mark worldwide.

In total,A Working Man has made $98.5 million in worldwide revenue, split between $36.9 million domestically and $61.6 million from overseas markets. With no other markets left for the film to open in, this is likely where it will finish, still standing as a fair result at the box office, considering the movie's reported $40 million budget.

Jason Statham’s 42% Rotten Tomatoes Conspiracy Thriller Is Chasing ‘Reacher’ on Streaming Charts
Image
After opening up the year with A Working Man, one of Jason Statham’s older movies has resurfaced on streaming charts more than 10 years later. Statham stars alongside Stranger Things veteran Winona Ryder in Homefront, the 2013 conspiracy thriller following a former DEA agent who moves to a quiet town but soon begins to get tangled up with a drug lord and his local meth operation. Homefront, which also stars Clancy Brown, hit Prime Video not long ago, and the film has surged into the top 10, sitting at #9 at the time of writing. Homefront falls just behind Reacher, the action series led by Alan Ritchson, which sits at #8. Statham’s action film earned a 42% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter lands at a slightly higher 61%.

‘The Amateur’ Overtakes Jason Statham’s 52% Rotten Tomatoes Action Sequel at Global Box Office
Image
While everyone was paying attention to the blockbusting being accomplished by A Minecraft Movie and Sinners, all the dads got together and made The Amateur a hit. The espionage thriller features Rami Malek in his first proper leading role since he won an Oscar for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. In the last month, The Amateur has not only shown the power of counter-programming, but also how vital it is to not ignore underserved audiences. Older crowds will leave their homes if given a reason to; they aren't interested in watching only Reacher or Bosch.

With $38 million domestically and another $51 million from overseas markets, The Amateurhas grossed over $90 million worldwide so far. Does the movie have what it takes to pass the $100 million mark globally? Only time (and its digital debut) will tell. Interestingly, The Amateur is leading Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's The Accountant 2, which, despite its franchise value,...

Jason Statham's Latest Action Flick With 49% Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Climbing Streaming Charts
Image
We all love Jason Statham, and it shows with every release of his. The English actor is in a league of his own when it comes to action-heavy roles, carving a niche for himself with features like the Transporter franchise, Crank, and The Beekeeper. His latest release and second collaboration with director David Ayer, A Working Man, has had a modest box office run but is grabbing eyeballs on streaming. According to FlixPatrol, A Working Man is steadily climbing the Vudu charts, standing tall at #3 behind animated Dogman at #1, and Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World at #2 on the Top 10 list. The feature is a through-and-through action flick with an emotional core and thrilling plot. No wonder fans are enjoying the feature at their leisure.

Bob Odenkirk
The new buzz says Amazon MGM secured the worldwide distribution rights to The Beekeeper 2
Bob Odenkirk
Fresh off of directing the Bob Odenkirk action sequel Nobody 2 (which is now in post-production) for Universal, Timo Tjahjanto has signed on to direct the Jason Statham action sequel The Beekeeper 2. Filming on the Statham movie is expected to begin this fall. It was previously reported that the movie will, again, be made under the new Weinstein-less Miramax label, but Deadline now reveals that Amazon MGM has just secured the rights to distribute the sequel worldwide. Their sources say this new deal has cost somewhere above the realm of $50 million.

Directed by David Ayer from a screenplay written by Kurt Wimmer, The Beekeeper was an incredibly wild action flick that showed us what happens when one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers.” Statham played a character named Adam Clay,...

Jason Statham's Sequel to 2024 Hit Action Film Gets New Exciting Update
Image
Jason Statham is a prolific and profitable action star whose films bring millions of dollars at the box office. In 2024, the actor teamed up with Suicide Squad director for The Beekeeper.

The action movie was a critical and commercial success, which led to them reuniting this year for A Working Man. However, considering how profitable The Beekeeper was, a sequel was granted. Now, Deadline reports that The Beekeeper 2 has received a major update as Amazon MGM Studios landed the worldwide distribution rights in a $50 million+ deal.

The move is hardly surprising, as the first entry in the franchise was also distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures through Amazon MGM Studios, with Miramax producing. The same team will produce and distribute the sequel as well, but The Beekeeper comes with a big change: David Ayer won't return to direct.

Instead, Jason Statham will team up with Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto. Ayer's...

Jason Statham's $152.4M Action Movie Emerges On Streaming Charts As Sequel Development Heats Up
Image
Jason Statham is one of the most notable action film actors working today. This year, Statham was in A Working Man, where he played a construction worker who takes matters into his own hands when a young girl vanishes. As was the case with many of Statham's movies, the film was a box office success, making $98.1 million on an estimated $40 million budget. He has a busy slate of upcoming movies that includes Mutiny and Fast X: Part 2.

While he has been in his fair share of one-off movies, franchises have been a huge part of Statham's career. His most notable franchises include the Fast & Furious movies and the Expendables series, wherein he plays members of the ensemble-based films. However, Statham began his career working in standalone movies like Guy Ritchie's Snatch. Now, one of Statham's action movies from last year is getting a sequel, and the 2024 release is a streaming success.

‘A Minecraft Movie’ Casts a Spell on Harry Potter To Become One of Warner Bros.' Biggest Hits Ever

A Minecraft Movie recently wrapped up its fifth full weekend in theaters, but that didn’t stop it from becoming one of the highest-grossing blockbusters ever. At the time of writing, Jack Black’s video game adaption has collected $398 million at the domestic box office and $475 million internationally, leaving it with a worldwide cumulative haul of $873 million. A Minecraft Movie, which also stars Jason Momoa, now has its sights set on passing Wonder Woman, the 2017 superhero movie starring Gal Gadot that grossed $412 million at the domestic box office.

All 5 upcoming Harlan Coben Netflix adaptations, ranked by anticipation
Image
Thanks to Harlan Coben and Netflix's continuing collaboration, we've been treated to a series of gripping adaptations that have kept audiences hooked with their mix of mystery, drama, and pulse-pounding suspense. This year alone, we've seen the release of three new series adaptations of Coben's books, such as Missing You, Just One Look and Caught. While it's unclear if we'll see any more releases on Netflix this year, there are still a bunch of highly anticipated projects in the pipeline.

Currently, five new adaptations have been confirmed. Netflix has already announced plans to adapt Coben’s Myron Bolitar book series, along with his novels I Will Find You and Run Away into original series. Additionally, Coben's mystery thriller Win is in development as either a series or a film, and his novel Six Years is being adapted into a Netflix original movie.

Jason Statham's 71% Rotten Tomatoes Revenge Romp Is Buzzing Around Another Streaming Top 10
Image
Jason Statham’s buzzworthy action flick The Beekeeper is officially swarming streaming charts once again, this time landing at #6 on MGM+ — and proving that when it comes to punching scammers and delivering bee puns with a straight face, no one does it better than Statham. After dominating theaters at the beginning of last year with an impressive $152.7 million global box office haul, The Beekeeper quietly became one of the most-watched films on Prime Video in 2024 and is now making major moves on MGM+ as well. Not bad for a movie that many dismissed as another mid-budget revenge thriller — and one that now sits at a strong 71% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Fury’s David Ayer and written by Equilibrium’s Kurt Wimmer, The Beekeeper stars Statham as Adam Clay, a former elite operative of a mysterious organization known only as the Beekeepers. What starts as a story about a mild-mannered...

Jason Statham in La parole d'un homme (2025)
The Amateur - Andrew Robertson - 19676
Jason Statham in La parole d'un homme (2025)
Yet another revenge thriller motivated by a dead wife, The Amateur at least has in its favour that its source text is 50-years-old. That's significantly newer than the weirdly regressive A Working Man, but where that had Sylvester Stallone and David Ayer moderating, this finds ways to be more sexist, and, if anything, more nihilistic.

The book it's based on is by Robert Littel, he's previously had work adapted for television, but neither Legend (starring Sean Bean as various undercover identities) nor The Company (with an even longer list of recognisable names). Littel's one of the lesser known but much loved figures of spy literature, a genre unto itself. John LeCarre attributed much of his success to being an alternative to Ian Fleming. There's a coldness in Le Carre that's different to that of Bond, and a different coldness again in Littel's work. His first novel, The Defection Of Aj.

Jason Statham Battles It Out With ‘Dark Winds’ on Prime Video Streaming Charts
Image
After vanquishing Captain America: Brave New World on streaming charts, Jason Statham’s new movie has its sights set on a new target. A Working Man, the latest action collaboration between Statham and director David Ayer, is duking it out atop Prime Video’s charts with Dark Winds, which has risen to #2 with the release of its Season 3 finale. At the time of writing, A Working Man is the top purchase on digital charts, but with momentum rising for Dark Winds, it could be the first project to dethrone Jason Statham. Other notable additions to Prime Video’s digital purchase chart include Wicked, which remains a VOD hit despite beginning a Peacock streaming run weeks ago, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is also available to stream on Paramount+.

Jason Statham in La parole d'un homme (2025)
A Working Man - Andrew Robertson - 19672
Jason Statham in La parole d'un homme (2025)
A Working Man is yet another outing for a particular flavour of retributive escapism. Like Death Wish, Die Hard, and (Rambo) First Blood it's based on a novel, but what's astonishing is that despite tonal similarities to works from the 1970s the source novel is from 2014.

This review was delayed in part because I wanted to track down a copy. The film having been produced (and co-written) by Sylvester Stallone, I wondered how much of Chuck Dixon's novel Levon's Trade had made the transition to screen. I wondered how much of its regressive tendencies had been added. Among the film's bad habits there's the obligatory dead wife, the fetishisation of special forces, as with Taken the complications inherent in the layered politics of human trafficking, some queer-coded villainy and almost inevitably lockstep adherence to the monomyth of the hero's journey.

What astonished me more than the initial...

Guy Ritchie & Jason Statham's Underrated Spy Thriller Finds New Success on Streaming Despite Bombing in Theaters
Image
Independently, Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are widely successful. Statham and Richie debuted with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and had several successful collaborations, but their latest one wasn't a hit when it came out.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre didn't receive positive reviews from the critics and didn't sell enough tickets to make a profit. However, like many other films, the spy thriller found a new life on streaming. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre just premiered on Peacock, and two days later, it's already in the Top 10, per Collider.

Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ Passes Original ‘Cinderella’s Domestic Box Office
Image
Snow White dropped even more theaters last week on its way to its first weekend under $1 million at the box office, but the film still managed to pass another Disney classic. At the time of writing, Snow White has grossed $85.7 million at the domestic box office and $109.4 million internationally for a worldwide total of $195.2 million. This $85.7 million in the United States is enough to push Snow White past the original Cinderella, which earned just $85 million in 1950. When factoring in inflation, Cinderella’s $85 million domestic total at the box office would amount to over $1.1 billion in 2025. Snow White will have its work cut out for it if it wants to pass another iconic fairy tale classic, Robin Hood (2010), starring Russell Crowe, which grossed $105 million domestically.

Snow White kicked off its box office run with a $42.2 million performance, which was enough to put it well ahead of other competitors that weekend, such...

Sinners, Star Wars, And Ben Affleck Led The Most Important Box Office Weekend In Ages
Image
It's probably no secret to anyone who pays attention to movies even a little bit, particularly people who enjoy going to theaters to see movies, that it's been a rough handful of years for the industry. The box office never fully recovered from the pandemic shutdown five years ago, with some highs along the way but far more lows to complicate matters. Fortunately, things have looked up lately, with "A Minecraft Movie" delivering a global smash. And here's some more good news: This past weekend was, without a doubt, one of the most important and encouraging weekends at the box office in years.

The last weekend of April 2025 saw Ryan Coogler's "Sinners" make more than $45 million in its second weekend, a record-low drop for a wide release horror movie. It has now become an unexpectedly huge, original smash hit. What's special about it, looking beyond the number one movie on the charts,...

Dev Patel at an event for Chappie (2015)
The Peasant: Dev Patel will dish out more revenge as director and star of the upcoming thriller
Dev Patel at an event for Chappie (2015)
Dev Patel continues to reinvent himself as an action star after his directorial debut with Monkey Man. In Monkey Man, Patel showed off his new prowess with a buff bod and fighting skills to get revenge on the corrupt Indian politician who slaughtered his village. And it seems as that film was not a one-and-done for Patel’s new direction. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the star will write, direct, and lead The Peasant, an unconventional period action thriller from Fifth Season Productions and Thunder Road Pictures.

The project reunites Patel with Thunder Road Productions, which produced Monkey Man. Per THR, the thriller is set “in the 1300s, it centers on a shepherd who embarks on a rage-fueled campaign against a group of mercenary knights who ransacked his community, revealing himself to be more than he seems.” It was also “being described as having shades of Braveheart and John Wick...

Dev Patel to Direct, Star in Period Revenge Action Thriller ‘The Peasant’ for Fifth Season (Exclusive)
Image
Dev Patel is continuing to establish his triple threat filmmaking skills, coming on board to write, direct and star in The Peasant, a unique period action thriller from Fifth Season and Thunder Road Pictures. Patel will also produce via his Minor Realm production shingle.

The project reunites Patel with Thunder Road, which produced Monkey Man, his feature directorial debut, which he also co-wrote and in which he starred.

An adrenalized revenge thriller, the project is being described as having shades of Braveheart and John Wick as well as notes of King Arthur as it mashes up medieval knights with feudal India.

Set in the 1300s, it centers on a shepherd who embarks on a rage-fueled campaign against a group of mercenary knights who ransacked his community, revealing himself to be more than he seems.

Fifth Season, which is financing the feature as well as producing it, initially developed the project with Will Dunn,...

'The Accountant 2' Smashes Past Major Milestone in Global Box Office Debut
Image
Nearly a decade after The Accountantemerged as a surprise hit, The Accountant 2 has arrived in theaters with the same star and director at the helm, but under the wing of an entirely different studio. The Accountant 2 is a more costly affair, and is counting on the cult following that the original movie has been developing in the last few years. Starring Ben Affleck and directed by Gavin O’Connor, the movie opened to superior reviews in comparison to the first film and has earned an exceptional response from audiences. All of this bodes well for The Accountant 2’s future.

Distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, the film opened with over $38 million at the box office, against a reported budget of $80 million, which is nearly twice as much as the $45 million that the first film reportedly cost. Released in 2016 by Warner Bros., The Accountant concluded its run with over $150 million...

Jason Statham Fans Have a Lot To Look Forward to Next Month
Image
Let’s face it. We could all use a little more Jason Statham in our lives. The British actor is everything that a hero should be and is hands-down one of the best modern action stars around. Fully in agreement with our sentiments, Hulu is cooking up a little something special for Statham fans next month when the streamer will make both The Transporter and The Transporter 2 available to subscribers on May 9. If you’re thinking “there’s something missing,” you’re right, because The Transporter 3 won’t be part of the streamer’s Statham-packed lineup. However, you don’t need the full trilogy when you have the first and second films, especially since the follow-up is celebrating a milestone moment with this year marking its 20th anniversary. That’s right – we’re all old!

In 2002, filmmakers Corey Yuen and Louis Leterrier introduced audiences to Frank Martin, a mercenary...

‘Pride & Prejudice’s Return to Theaters Helps It Hit a New Milestone 20 Years Later
Image
Jane Austen adaptations are nothing new, and with 2025 being the 250th Anniversary of her birth, they have never been more relevant. Thankfully, the year also marks two decades since the theatrical debut of Joe Wright's Pride & Prejudice, sending the movie back into theaters and putting eyes back on Austen's timeless romance tale. Now, thanks to this re-release, Pride & Prejudice's box office haul has hit a brand-new milestone, 20 years on from its first. Officially, Pride & Prejudice has now surpassed the $130 million mark, split between a $42 million domestic total and $88 million in overseas markets.

Pride & Prejudice has surpassed this milestone thanks to a consistent performance in domestic theaters following its initial re-release opening weekend, in which it earned over $2.8 million and finished eighth in the top ten earners. On Monday, April 21, and Tuesday, April 22, Pride & Prejudice earned just shy of $1 million in total, taking...

Jason Statham Lands Helicopter in Local Playing Field Leaving Residents Furious
Image
Living next door to an action-movie star sounds glamorous until a helicopter drops onto the paddock behind your garden wall. Residents living near the home of British hard-nut action hero Jason Statham have been made to feel they were in the middle of one of his blockbuster movies recently, and it seems they have had enough of it.

According to a report in The Sun – naturally - Statham and his glamorous partner, model, designer, and former Transformers star, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, have been taking an unusual mode of transport recently – a twin-engine helicopter. You know, the kind of thing that is usually seen airlifting bad guys off skyscrapers and then being blown up by the hero in every action movie worth its salt. However, when one lands in the middle of a sports field next to a riding school, disturbs the peace and frightens the horses, then it is just not on,...

‘A Working Man’ Passes Brad Pitt’s ‘Snatch’ To Become One of Jason Statham’s 20 Biggest Movies Ever
Image
A Working Man made its debut on digital platforms at the end of last week, but that hasn’t stopped the film from continuing to earn at the box office. Jason Statham’s latest action vehicle now sits at $36 million at the domestic box office and $51 million internationally for a worldwide cumulative total of $87 million. While this is still significantly less than The Beekeeper, the latest action movie collaboration between Statham and director David Ayer, it is enough to make it one of Statham’s 20 highest-grossing movies ever. Despite mixed reactions from fans and critics — 49% score from critics and 87% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes — A Working Man has passed Snatch, which also stars Brad Pitt, to reach Statham’s top 20 list.

If A Working Man can scrounge together another $2 million at the global box office, it will move past Transporter 2 to become the 19th-highest-grossing Jason Statham movie of all time,...

Jason Statham Believes He Has One Thing In Common With Sylvester Stallone
Image
Actor Jason Statham and Hollywood mainstay Sylvester Stallone have collaborated on six feature films together. They starred opposite each other in four "Expendables" movies (with Statham taking the lead over Stallone for the abysmal "Expend4bles"), and Statham starred in the Stallone-scripted "Homefront" in 2013. Most recently, Stallone wrote the script for the 2025 David Ayer-directed Statham vehicle "A Working Man." The pair, one can infer, know each other's work very well.

Statham, 57, has long been one of cinema's most reliable badasses, often playing cops, mercenaries, assassins, killer, or other ultra-capable dolers of violence. He has done a lot of his own stunts, and he ran down his injuries in a 2023 interview with Collider. He did a real helicopter stunt for the movie "Crank," which he said was quite difficult, and he recalled having to actually jump from a moving jetski onto the back of a speeding bus in "Transporter 2." Surprisingly,...
