Stevie Nicks has pitched an idea for Daisy Jones & The Six season 2
Image
Last year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable… and Steve Nicks soon let it be known that she loved the show and had watched its full run multiple times. She said, “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me,” and she joined many fans in hoping that there would be a second season. Since Daisy Jones & The Six covered the full story of Reid’s novel and was categorized as a limited series,...

Harris broke out in 2023 as one of the industry’s prominent rising LGBTQ+ voices. She recurred in the nine-time Emmy-nominated Amazon Prime miniseries Daisy Jones and the Six, opposite Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, and Suki Waterhouse. In the series, Harris plays Bernie, a disc jockey in New York’s underground gay disco scene, and the love interest of Simone Jackson (Nabiyah Be). Also in 2023, Harris starred alongside Kim Cattrall and Miss Benny in Netflix’s queer drama-comedy Glamorous. Other television credits include This Is Us, L Word: Generation Q, Abbott Elementary and Good Girls.

Harris made her feature film debut in the Samuel Goldwyn Films anthology Tell It Like a Woman, which landed Diane Warren her 14th Academy Award nom for Best Original Song. She co-stars in the film’s seventh segment, “Pepcy and Kim”, opposite Jennifer Hudson, directed by Taraji P. Henson.

Daisy Jones & The Six Season 2 Gets Disappointing Update From Riley Keough
Image
There will likely be no season 2 for Daisy Jones & the Six, as star Riley Keough offers a disappointing update. Keough is unsure about reprising her Daisy Jones role, saying she hasn't heard anything about season 2. Fans may be left wanting as Keough expresses interest but uncertainty in the future of the show.

Daisy Jones & the Six season 2 gets a disappointing update from star Riley Keough. The Under the Bridge actor played rock star Daisy Jones in last year's miniseries adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel, which told the fictional story of the rise-and-fall of a ‘70s rock band loosely based on real-life rock legends Fleetwood Mac. The ten-episode limited series received mixed reviews, as reflected in its 70% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though Keough herself picked up an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Her lead performance in season 1 may indeed have been Emmy-worthy,...

Daisy Jones & The Six: Stevie Nicks reacts to show inspired by her life story
Image
Earlier this year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable. And now Nicks has taken to social media to share what she thought of the Prime series. In short, she loved it!

Developed for television by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, Daisy Jones & The Six has the following synopsis: In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world. Fronted by two heat seeking missiles in Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out...

Fans of the Amazon Prime original series Daisy Jones & the Six (which premiered in March) know that it’s not just the Fleetwood Mac-inspired music or the real-life Sunset Strip shooting locations that set the tone for the show. It’s also the ‘70s fashion that gives it a distinct sense of time and place. The fringed vests, peasant dresses, flared pants and crochet tops worn by the women leads on the show also communicate important aspects of the characters as their stories develop.

Of course, it probably comes as no surprise to many viewers that much of Daisy Jones’ (Riley Keough) bohemian style is inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.

How ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ Became a Real (Fake) Band
Image
Daisy Jones & The Six star Sam Claflin arrived at his final audition to play fictional 1970s rock star Billy Dunne without, by his own admission, the strongest grasp on the type of musician he was expected to embody.

His future showrunners had already taken a shine to the dimpled British actor, as had music supervisor Frankie Pine and producer Hello Sunshine’s president Lauren Neustadter, but one last hurdle remained before he could land the male lead in Amazon’s hot adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. He had to sing live for the project’s music producers, Blake Mills and Tony Berg. Pine gave Claflin a shot of moonshine to soothe his nerves. The actor entered the storied halls of Sound City Studios, the Van Nuys building where Mick Fleetwood first met Lindsey Buckingham, and proceeded to kind of blow it. “I had prepared Elton John’s ‘Your Song,...

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel, the Prime Video series stars Riley Keough as the eponymous star who joins a new band, featuring the likes of Sam Claflin’s Billy Dunne, who are on top of the world in 1977 but after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits.

Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth.

At Deadline’s Contenders Television panel featuring Keough, Claflin and Camila Morrone, showrunner Scott Neustadter teased that he’s made a whole pitch full of ideas for more stories, despite the series being based on a book.

Riley Keough and Marcus Mumford Are Emmy Contenders With Three Original Song Submissions From ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ (Exclusive)

Don’t let me down Emmys, and nominate the songs of “Daisy Jones.”

Variety has learned exclusively about Amazon Prime Video’s plans for which songs will be submitted for Primetime Emmy Awards consideration in the outstanding music and lyrics category from the acclaimed musical drama miniseries “Daisy Jones & the Six.” While there are 11 songs that are part of the tracklist of the fictional album “Aurora,” which was released by Amazon, three tracks will be submitted for the Television Academy — the hypnotic “Let Me Down Easy,” the powerfully passionate “Look at Us Now (Honeycomb),” and the dynamic and thematic showstopper “The River.”

‘Daisy Jones & the Six’: Taylor Jenkins Reid Has ‘Certainly’ Thought About Season 2
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for all episodes of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” now streaming on Prime Video.

Taylor Jenkins Reid knows how to let go. The best-selling “Daisy Jones & the Six” author didn’t worry too much about Prime Video’s adaptation of her 2019 novel following the book precisely. “I don’t think I’ve ever wanted someone to go film my book exactly as it is,” she tells Variety during a conversation with executive producer Brad Mendelsohn.

“Here’s a new version of this story. Here are new versions of this song. Here’s a new way to enjoy this. Hopefully, my readers will feel like they’re finding the things that they loved about it, but also that it is something different. I like that it’s different,” Reid, who’s also a producer on the series, says. “I don’t feel the need...

Tom Wright, Riley Keough, Josh Whitehouse, Sam Claflin, Suki Waterhouse, Camila Morrone, Sebastian Chacon, and Will Harrison in Daisy Jones & the Six (2023)
When co-showrunner and executive producer of “Daisy Jones & the Six” Will Graham asked author Taylor Jenkins Reid what she wanted to see more of in the show that wasn’t in her book, Jenkins Reid’s answer was Simone’s (Nabiyah Be) story.

“She’s Gone,” the seventh episode in the Prime Video television adaptation, explores Simone’s pursuits after she leaves Los Angeles for New York in Episode 4. Directed by Graham, this episode breaks from the narrative of rock band Daisy Jones & the Six after they’ve hit the jackpot with their “Aurora” album, taking viewers back to the start of Simone’s success in 1975.

“We knew we wanted to explore this moment in history that doesn’t get talked about a lot, which is the moment that disco came out of these queer predominantly Black clubs,” Graham said. “And we knew that we wanted to take a...

‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ Star Nabiyah Be Talks Simone’s Queer, Black Love Story
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for Episode 7 of “Daisy Jones and the Six,” now streaming on Prime Video.

Simone Jackson doesn’t fade into the background. While readers of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “Daisy Jones & the Six” just got a taste of the character, Prime Video’s series adaptation gives the disco diva, played by singer-songwriter Nabiyah Be, a much more significant arc outside of her relationship with Daisy (Riley Keough).

In Episode 7, titled “She’s Gone,” Simone’s story is front-and-center, as viewers follow her meteoric rise as a disco pioneer in the New York underground scene. She does so alongside Bernie (Ayesha Harris), who becomes both her musical partner and romantic interest.

Be hasn’t publicly commented on her sexuality before, but she tells Variety that she identifies as queer, which helped her relate to Simone’s story. “That was easier than if I were someone...

Taylor Jenkins Reid on Bringing to Life the ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ Characters in Her Novel | SXSW 2023
Image
Sam Claflin, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon, Nabiyah Be and Taylor Jenkins Reid joined The Hollywood Reporter in its SXSW Studio to discuss bringing Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six to the small screen at South by Southwest on Saturday.

The Amazon Prime Video original series, which follows the rise and fall of the titular band in the 1970s, is produced by Hello Sunshine and also stars Riley Keough, Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Tom Wright and Timothy Olyphant.

Reid shared that the cast “replaced” the images she had of the characters she came up with six years ago while writing the novel, which was released in 2019. “It feels so good because, as an author, it’s a very solitary experience,” she told THR during the Austin festival. “It’s me and my computer and then, like, me calling my husband in four times a day to be like,...

Reese Witherspoon on Dream to Play Tambourine on ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’
Image
Reese Witherspoon played it cool when asked by THR at the Daisy Jones & The Six premiere to reveal what kind of creative notes she offered to the team behind her company Hello Sunshine’s high-profile adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel.

“I had some notes,” she said with a smile at the show’s premiere on Feb. 23, before reluctantly revealing a few tidbits, specifically about the show’s faux documentary scenes that feature the performers sitting down for their first interviews 20 years after the band’s final performance. “But they were the same notes as the rest of the creative team — about wanting to make sure that the documentary scenes felt as potent as the live footage.”

That’s all Witherspoon was willing to divulge. Instead, she turned her attention to compliments. “These people know exactly what they’re doing, they really didn’t need anything from me.

The Interview Format In Daisy Jones & The Six Doesn't Quite Work Like The Book
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Daisy Jones & The Six" and Taylor Jenkins Reid's book of the same name.

When Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel "Daisy Jones & The Six" hit the stands in 2019, the book instantly became a pop culture phenomenon. The reasons were multifold: Reid not only captures the nostalgia-laden essence of mid-1970s rock and roll but also manages to weave a compelling saga about a fictional rock band's overnight rise to fame, followed by their sudden split and the aftermath of the same. The tumultuous, complicated dynamic shared by Daisy and band frontrunner Billy Dunne acts as the catalyst for the central events in the novel, which simultaneously maps interconnected character arcs to present several versions of the truth.

Reid accomplishes this by structuring the book like an oral history, told entirely through the perspectives of the characters involved, which often contradict one another, making the truth elusive.

Daisy Jones & The Six vs Fleetwood Mac: Inspiration & Differences
Image
Warning! Spoilers for Daisy Jones & The Six ahead.

Amazon's Daisy Jones & The Six is not an adaptation of Fleetwood Mac's rock band sagas, but it does draw some inspiration from the band's real-life narrative. Set in the 1970s, Daisy Jones & The Six walks viewers through a rock band's meteoric rise to fame and its sudden fall from grace, resulting from the complex dynamics between the band members. While portraying the journey of its titular band, Daisy Jones & The Six merges real-world rock mythology from the 70s into its overarching storyline, which adds more heft to its drama, making it look more grounded in reality than it actually is.

Amplifying its realism, the original amazon TV show adopts a quasi-documentary visual storytelling style. In addition, it features many electrifying musical performances that are enough to immerse audiences into its roller coaster of heartbreaks, tragedies, drugs, and classic rock 'n' roll.

How ‘Daisy Jones and the Six’ Differs from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Novel
Image
Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones and the Six” boasts catchy songs, an all-star cast, and killer ’70s costumes, but the series has made quite a few changes to its source material.

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel of the same name, “Daisy Jones and the Six” stars Riley Keough as the titular Stevie Nicks-inspired rocker whose fiery passion lodges unexpected tension in rock band The Six, led by charismatic frontman Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin). Camila Morrone stars as Billy’s wife Camila, with Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse, and Sebastian Chacon playing the rest of the rock group.

The novel was devised as an oral history of the fictional band that only released one album but whose meteoric rise was only trumped by their mysterious disbandment. As the series logline puts it: Their music made them famous, their breakup made them legends. Author Reid produces, as...

Daisy Jones & The Six TV Review
Image
Plot: In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world. Fronted by two charismatic lead singers—Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin)—the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits. Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth. This is the story of how an iconic band imploded at the height of its powers.

Review: Rock and roll has long been solid material for movies and television series, often in biopics or thinly veiled portrayals of bands who wouldn’t relinquish their rights to a production company. Few productions have captured the unadulterated highs and lows of being in a band quite like Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous, especially when not featuring a band audiences know by name. Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s acclaimed bestselling novel,...

Stevie Nicks at an event for Sound City (2013)
Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel of the same name, Daisy Jones & The Six follows the roots and rise of a '70s band.

It's clearly an homage to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's tumultuous relationship, with Riley Keough and Sam Claflin playing their roles as Margaret "Daisy" Jones and Billy Dunne.

But aside from the musical influence and romantic entanglements and the era, Daisy Jones & The Six is an original, well-plotted story that has all the features of a rock documentary, including catchy music that will stay with you once the series ends.

Billy Dunne and his brother Graham (Will Harrison) start a band called The Dunne Brothers in their hometown of Pittsburgh with their best friends Eddie Roundtree (Josh Whitehouse) and Warren Rhodes (Sebastian Chacon).

Through a chance encounter with a tour manager played by Timothy Olyphant, the four young men yearn...

‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ Is ‘Almost Famous’ by Way of Fleetwood Mac
Image
In Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel Daisy Jones & the Six, an oral history of a fictional Seventies rock band that imploded at the height of its fame, we get conflicting accounts of how the band became known as the Six before the troubled Daisy joined as the seventh member. The surviving musicians disagree on specifics, but all concur that it had to do with there being six people in the group at the time.

In Amazon Prime’s adaptation, the pre-Daisy incarnation of the band has one fewer member.

‘Daisy Jones & The Six‘ Producer Reese Witherspoon Hopes Stevie Nicks Watches the Show: ’I Think She’ll Love It’

Riley Keough may be Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, but she didn’t let the pressure of trying to live up to the family name get to her while shooting “Daisy Jones & The Six,” Amazon Prime Video’s adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel. She stars as the lead singer of a Fleetwood Mac-like band in the 1970s. “I have a quality where I don’t really care if I mess up, if I do something stupid or if I do a bad performance,” she told me Thursday night at the series premiere at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. “I kind of just brush it off and I also have a sense of humor about it.”

Keough also recalled her late mom Lisa Marie Presley didn’t flinch when she told her she was playing a singer: “She’s always supportive of everything I do.”

Riley Keough Makes First Red Carpet Appearance Since Death of Mother Lisa Marie Presley
Image
Riley Keough turned up in Hollywood on Thursday night to attend the world premiere of her new Prime Video TV series, Daisy Jones & the Six, marking her first red carpet appearance since the sudden death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, on Jan. 12. It was quite the scene, too, as the Tcl Chinese Theatre was packed with guests dressed to match the ’70s glam dress code while Keough and her co-stars were supported by a producing team that included Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon.

Keough, wearing Schiaparelli Couture and accompanied by husband Ben Smith-Petersen, toplines the series as Daisy Jones, the co-lead singer of a ’70s rock band. Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & the Six details the rise and precipitous fall of that band, from early days toiling away at small gigs through a meteoric rise that culminates in a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Excellent Full Trailer for 'Daisy Jones & The Six' 70s Rock Band Series
Image
"When you're making an album, it's an inmate thing - it has to be." Prime Video has debtued the full-length official trailer for a new series titled Daisy Jones & The Six, about a (fictional) rock band from the 1970s. This is a fantastic trailer, even better than the first teaser - it should hook everyone easily. This series is made by director James Ponsoldt and the writers behind 500 Days of Summer and The Spectacular Now. The series follows the rise of rock band Daisy Jones and The Six through the '70s LA music scene on their quest for worldwide icon status. While the story is presented in a documentary style, including background interviews with the band, this is an entirely fictional story that captures the essence of creativity (and tumult) in the erratic, wild world of the 1970s. "It's time to hear the real story." Daisy Jones & The Six...
