Despite its being the top Adult Film distributor back in the day, Vivid didn't earn enough respect to have this forgotten feature even listed in IMDb -I just added it and am reviewing for the record.
The late auteur David Aaron Clark, renowned for his avant garde leanings (and participation in underground non-XXX projects like Charles Pinion's "We Await") emerges as pure hack in this dumb Vivid assignment, starring the unappealing Vivid contract girl Dayton. She's a schemer, literally taking over the life of Meriesa after moving in with her (and Dale DaBone) as a new roommate. It's hardly up to the level of Barbet Schroeder's influential "Single White Female" but then again, it's hardly up to the level of Grade-Z porn.
Six XXX scenes ensue with little rhyme, reason or continuity, and Dayton's acting is unconvincing throughout. As Meriesa's best friend Taylor St. Clair lends her big bazooms and some eroticism to the content but not enough to merit continued watching. I made it to the bitter end, predictable and irritating. In a central role Mariesa, aka Marissa Aroyo, is unimpressive and another reason for the title's deserved obscurity.
One would think that the plot line of somebody sabotaging your life and taking your place would make for sure-fire storytelling, but Clark proves the contrary. I suspect he had a self-destructive personality, as this opportunity to work for a leading studio, rather than his usual haunting ground Video Team (and ethnic specialty content), was muffed due to ineptitude and carelessness.
