The movie will release theatrically on July 31, 2026, and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures worldwide, excluding Canada where Elevation Pictures distributes.
This isn’t the first time these stars have appeared in children’s projects. When it comes to allowing people to show off their fandoms in style, Loungefly has us covered. Unless of course you are a Star Trek fan.
While Loungefly has no problem making some of the cutest mini backpacks, crossbodies and wallets for fandoms such as Disney, Star Wars, Harry Potter and even Garfield, sadly Star Trek is being left out in the cold. And we certainly did a search to see if there had ever been a Loungefly x Star Trek collaboration, with little success. We found a bag from Her Universe that could have almost been a Loungefly piece, but didn't seem to be a legit bag from the brand.
As a fan of Loungefly, I love being able to snag pieces that let me show off my love of everything from Stitch to Snoopy and even books (they legitimately have bags with book themes and they still don't...

Cartoons from the 1980s hit differently. Maybe it was the fact they were all clever subliminal advertisements to bankrupt parents into buying endless merchandise and unnecessary items like Michaelangelo's Sewer Exploration Belt (though this author still asked for two of them for his birthday). The point is these animated series continue to be spoken about to this day, remaining cherished pop culture artifacts.
But how in the world do you rank the best of the best? That proved tricky, to be honest. The /Film team wrestled with all options, considering which shows had the greatest legacy and influence -- both then and now. Heck, I even suggested a Hell in a Cell match to settle a spot for "BraveStarr," but the idea was vetoed as "too dangerous" or something. Nonetheless, shoutout to "BraveStarr," "My Little Pony," and "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends," as these shows deserve honorable mentions here.

Sony Pictures is using Roblox to help introduce Karate Kid: Legends to today’s younger audience. The original Karate Kid came out in 1984, and many of its fans are now adults. But with a new movie coming soon, Sony wants to get Gen Z and Gen Alpha interested, and what better place than Roblox, a platform where kids and teens spend a lot of their time?
To do this, Sony is partnering with Gamefam, a company that makes games in the “metaverse” and focuses on younger players. Together, they’ve created a new Roblox experience called the Karate Kid Training Simulator, which launches on May 2.
The game comes out just before the new movie’s release on May 30 in the U.S. and Canada.

The Karate Kid came out in 1984; sequels followed in 1986, ’89 and 1994. If you saw any of those films in theaters, you’re probably not playing Roblox. (The Karate Kid remake in 2010, with a completely new set of characters, doesn’t really apply here.) Sony and Gamefam have a game plan to get Gen Alpha to theaters for next month’s Karate Kid: Legends: teach them the ways of Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) right where they play.
Sony Pictures and Gamefam, which calls itself “the leading metaverse media company for Gen Z & Alpha communities,” have joined forces on a Karate Kid Training Simulator on Roblox, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The game launches on May 2, weeks ahead of the Karate Kid: Legends May 30 theatrical release (in the U.S. and Canada).

J.K. Rowling Net Worth(Photo Credit –Facebook)
With a pen and a wild imagination, J.K. Rowling went from a struggling single mother to the world’s first billionaire author, thanks, of course, to the unparalleled success of the Harry Potter series. Her literary empire, bolstered by global book sales, blockbuster films, spin-offs, theme park rides, and merchandise, made headlines for redefining what writers could achieve in a commercial sense.
But Rowling’s ascent also posed a question to the literary world: would anyone else ever reach such financial heights through words alone? Over the years, authors have seen soaring sales, some fueled by film adaptations, others by streaming deals or social media virality. Yet the billion-dollar club has remained notoriously exclusive. As we stand in 2025, nearly two decades after Rowling’s breakthrough, has anyone else crossed that threshold?
Is J.K. Rowling Still the Only Billionaire Author in 2025?

Martin Lawrence has a positive update regarding the future of the Bad Boys film series. April 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Bad Boys, which opened on April 7, 1995, taking the number one spot at the box office, and kicking off a franchise that continues to this day. After a 17-year hiatus following Bad Boys II, Bad Boys for Life brought the franchise back with a bang and became one of the last films to succeed at the box office before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down theaters. The fourth film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, became another box office hit, and fans are eagerly awaiting word on when Bad Boys 5 (Bad Boy5 maybe?) will arrive.
In an interview withEntertainment Tonight, Lawrence was asked about the future of the action franchise. Lawrence plays Marcus Burnett in the Bad Boys franchise, the Miami Police Department partner and best friend of Will Smith's Mike Lowrey.

Paramount Pictures has added a third “Angry Birds Movie” to its release slate, setting it for January 29, 2027.
Paramount takes over as distributor from Sony Pictures, which released the first “Angry Birds Movie” from Rovio Animation in 2016, grossing $352 million worldwide. The film yielded a 2019 sequel that didn’t fly nearly as high with $152.2 million, though insiders at Paramount say that the films have seen robust viewership on streaming over the past five years.
Rovio returns as producers on the film with Sega, which acquired Rovio and “Angry Birds” in 2023 and which has partnered with Paramount on the “Sonic the Hedgehog” films. Namit Malhotra will also produce through his company Prime Focus Studios, in partnership with Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, and
Dentsu. Dneg, the animation studio behind “The Garfield Movie,” “Nimona” and the upcoming “The Cat in the Hat,” will animate the film.

Daisy Edgar-Jones is aware that many of her co-stars have been men the internet has swooned over.
Over the past few years, the actress has starred alongside Hollywood’s biggest heartthrobs, including Paul Mescal (Normal People), Harris Dickinson (Where the Crawdads Sing), Andrew Garfield (Under the Banner of Heaven), Sebastian Stan (Fresh), Glen Powell (Twisters) and Jacob Elordi (On Swift Horses).
In an interview with Elle magazine published on Tuesday, Edgar-Jones spoke about working alongside such high-demand and crush-worthy actors.
“I have worked with basically all of the internet’s boyfriends. And I’m lucky that every actor I’ve worked with has been incredibly supportive of me being the lead. Glen, Sebastian, Paul — all of them. I think that’s why they’re so successful and so loved and so good: that they are so generous and they really serve the story and are not serving themselves,” Edgar-Jones said.

The summer movie season is getting close, and Fandango has revealed what is, at the moment, the most anticipated movie of the summer, and the result may surprise you. 2025 is set to be a big summer movie season, with most eyes on the July battle between Warner Bros. and DC's Superman against Disney and Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which both come out just two weeks apart. Combine that with a Tom Cruise vs Stitch rematch on Memorial Day weekend and potential original hits like F1, Elio, and Materialists; there are a lot of choices this summer at the movies.
According to a poll conducted by Fandango, Jurassic World: Rebirth is the most anticipated movie of summer 2025, based on a survey of 3,500 ticket buyers. Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts* claim the number two and five slots, while DC Studios' Superman holds at number four. Other...

After barely escaping the curse of Nosferatu with his life, Nicholas Houlthas landed his next role. This time, the actor will be receiving a crash course in action perfection as he leads the cast of David Leitch’s upcoming bank heist film, which is backed by Amazon MGM Studios. As of right now, the untitled movie has yet to reveal plot details, but with Leitch behind the camera, we already know that the production will be overflowing with high-octane sequences and next-level stunt performances. Set for a cinematic release ahead of what we would imagine being a streaming drop on Prime Video, the movie’s screenplay is the latest to come from Mark Bianculli (Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector). In addition to Amazon MGM Studios, Leitch and Kelly McCormick will be producing under their 87North banner alongside Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum for Imagine.

In 2004, 20th Century Fox brought Jim Davis' beloved comic strip to the silver screen with Bill Murray portraying the CGI cat. It sounds like we might see Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Secret Wars after all.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was always intended to be the final Gotg movie (at least for the foreseeable future), and it served as a fitting send-off for the team - but it did also lay the groundwork for certain characters to return at the same time.
One post-credits scene introduced a new incarnation of the Guardians led by Rocket Raccoon, and the other teased the possibility of a solo Star-Lord adventure, with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather.
Director James Gunn has previously addressed that final "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return" title card, and it there are (or were) indeed tentative plans in place for a spin-off focusing on Quill's effort to adapt to life back on Terra.

Tim Allen has been a successful actor for decades, primarily making his name in comedy and children's entertainment. He's known for his time on the sitcoms Home Improvement and Last Man Standing and voicing Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise. And, of course, we can't forget when he took on the role of St. Nick himself in the Santa Clause movies. He even played an excellent villain.
By all accounts, a kid's superhero flick would fit nicely into Allen's repertoire. He may not be the first name that comes to mind when picturing a crime-fighting, world-saving, tights-wearing hero, but the concept for his 2006 movie Zoom: Academy for Superheroes had all the right ingredients to be a success — a leader with a dark past, a team of kids with superpowers to train, and an enemy to conquer.
Zoom was directed by Peter Hewitt, fresh off his 2004 live-action Garfield movie, which was similarly panned.

Nicholas Hoult has been on a bit of a run of late. Having lost the role of Batman to fellow Brit Robert Pattinson in "The Batman," the actor will soon play Lex Luthor in James Gunn's upcoming "Superman" after having similarly lost the lead role to David Corenswet. Still, not getting to play Superman almost makes Hoult the perfect Lex Luthor, and it will certainly be interesting to see what the actor does as the Man of Steel's most famous foe. In the lead up to that high-profile role, however, Hoult has been raising his profile and demonstrating his range with a slew of 2024 films that range from animated comedies to searing crime dramas.
After appearing alongside Nicholas Cage in the anticlimactic "Renfield" in 2023, Hoult seemingly went into 2024 determined to keep his career afloat. He voiced Jon Arbuckle in "Garfield," then starred in Clint Eastwood's legal thriller "Juror #2,...

In August, Justin Baldoni believed Pac-Man, the yellow, pellet-eating protagonist of the 1980s arcade game, could be the hero he needed to help change the messy narrative surrounding the release of It Ends With Us.
For weeks, rumors of a feud between director-star Baldoni and his co-star Blake Lively had dominated entertainment news headlines, and he was looking for a way to turn the page. According to a text he sent his PR team on Aug. 18, Baldoni suggested sharing the news that he would next direct a Pac-Man movie, something he hoped would help him “move towards the future.”
But Pac-Man, which Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios were developing since 2022, may no longer be in his future. It is among at least a trio of projects that are now in doubt as friction with Lively turned from internet curiosity into a full-fledged legal war.

Even if The Amazing Spider-Man 3 isn't on the table for the foreseeable future, fans are still pitching ideas for what a hypothetical Garfield-led sequel could focus on if it ever happens. Arifinity shared a new poster artwork for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, with Garfield's Peter variant pitched to take on Tom Hardy's Venom. Check it out below:

In a major push into animation, media tech investment firm Stars Collective is partnering with Shanghai-based El Pajaro Pictures to develop, produce and distribute a fresh take on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved classic “The Little Prince.”
“The Little Prince” weaves a poetic tale of a young prince who travels from planet to planet, meeting eccentric characters that offer allegorical insights into human nature. Narrated by a stranded aviator, the story unfolds as the prince recounts his adventures and his quest to understand life’s deeper truths.
The novella has inspired several adaptations. The 1974 live-action musical, directed by Stanley Donen, captured its whimsy, while Mark Osborne’s 2015 animated feature blended CGI and stop-motion and proved there’s still magic in the property, pulling in $97 million worldwide, including $24 million from China. The original 1943 book has been translated into over 300 languages with more than 200 million copies sold globally.

Garfield is one of the all-time most beloved comic strips in history, and one of the reasons fans love it so much is that it offers consistently funny jokes and low-stakes story arcs, with bright colors and familiar characters throughout every strip. That being said, Garfield certainly has its dark moments, including that one time when Garfield’s owner, Jon, nearly let the fat orange cat die - something fans should never forget.
In the Garfield comics published in December 1984, Jon goes on a trip to a cartoonist convention, and he leaves Odie and Garfield home alone. The arc takes place across nine comic strips, broken up into three distinct mini-sagas that all tell the story of how Garfield almost died, and how it was all Jon’s fault.

Samuel L. Jackson spoilers Nick Fury return (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Samuel L. Jackson might’ve just let the Marvel cat out of the bag—and he didn’t even blink. Chatting on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he casually mentioned juggling Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, and Secret Invasion at the same time. No biggie, just another day as Nick Fury!
“When I was in London just now, it was like Ant-Man and Captain Marvel 2 was happening, and we were getting ready to do Secret Invasion,” Jackson said. “So it’s like three Marvel movies on one lot. I was running around from place to place.”
Three Marvel projects? On the same lot? This guy’s Marvel’s personal superhero speedrunner. But here’s the real twist: We knew Fury would make a splash in The Marvels (Jackson already leaked that on Instagram).

The Far Side has made a name for itself as one of the best comic strips of all time, as its humor is smart and witty (with just the right amount of absurdity) and its artwork is unique and visually comical. Not only that, but The Far Side stands out from other popular comic strips for a number of reasons. For one thing, it’s not a comic ‘strip’ at all; it’s a single-panel comic. And for another, The Far Side doesn’t feature a main character or any semblance of long-form continuity.
The things that make The Far Side stand out are what make it so popular, especially the fact that it changes its characters with every passing comic. That difference from other iconic comic strips is how The Far Side is able to feature some truly wacky subjects, like animals, aliens, trees, bugs, trains, cowboys, and even God Himself.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences aren't taking any prisoners this year, as they've just announced that, of the 323 films eligible for Oscar nominations this year, a whopping 116 of those have already been excluded from the Best Picture category. Throughout 2024, fans were accruing their own lists of potential Best Picture nominees. But, your list could be drastically cut short by the new ruling from The Academy.
There are some potentially heavy hitters among the 116 listed by The Academy. Ben Taylor's moving drama about the discovery of IVF, Joy, Anna Kendrick's directorial debut, Woman of the Hour, and the Barry Keoghan-led drama, Bird, all failed to meet the necessary criteria from The Academy to qualify. The official ruling states:
"Feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in at least one of six U.S. metropolitan areas: Los Angeles County; the City of New York; the Bay Area; Chicago,...

UK and Ireland box office takings in 2024 hold steady, but sequels dominate the top ten chart for the year. More here.
The official numbers are in for UK cinema takings in 2024, and for the second time since the first lockdowns of 2020, the total number eclipsed the £1bn mark. This is still a fair way down from the £1.35bn of 2019, but a fair way up from the £597m of 2021.
According to official numbers released by Comscore in the UK, the number of new cinema releases increased over 2023, from 1015 to 1114, and the number of what are declared ‘saturation’ releases (think: shedloads of screens) was up from 176 to 200 (higher even than 2019).
The total take in cinemas was a smidge down on 2023, falling around £3m, which in the grand scheme of things is negligible when the overall number is measured in billions. Very cautious optimism might even be allowed.

There are 323 feature films eligible for the upcoming Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Monday, though a whopping 36% of those – 116 feature films – are not eligible for consideration in the Best Picture category.
The discrepancy between films that have qualified for the top category and films that are eligible in other categories comes either because the filmmakers did not attempt to qualify – likely the case for several documentary, animated or international films. Or because of new eligibility rules that require Best Picture candidates to meet additional benchmarks for diversity and inclusion. This is the second year that Representation and Inclusion Standards (Raise) have been enforced, though they did not appear to disqualify any serious contenders in the category.
Among titles excluded from Best Picture consideration are Andrea Arnold’s “Bird,” starring Barry Keoghan, Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut “Woman of the Year,” Michael Keaton’s directorial debut “Knox Goes Away,...

Often called "comics' original orange cat," Heathcliff is the surreal alternative to Garfield, routinely breaking with reality to deliver cerebral and strange jokes that have the ability to take even the most savvy readers by surprise. In publication for over forty years now, Heathcliff has grown steadily more unhinged as time has gone on – to the benefit of generations of readers.
Heathcliff is beloved by those who know the comic, but the strip arguably doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves. First published in 1973, at a time when Peanuts was at its peak, and Doonesbury was doing Pulitzer-prize winning work, Heathcliff was created and illustrated by George Gately until 1998; since then, it has been the product of his nephew Peter Gallagher.
While Heathcliff was always odd, it has become especially weird in the Gallagher years, which have grown increasingly absurd, keeping pace with the increasingly surreal style of internet humor.

There has been a social media war between factions of Maga recently, and Elon Musk weighed in with an odd post. Entertainment Weekly reports that the post on Twitter (currently X) was "part of an ongoing argument among supporters of President-elect Donald Trump about the value of immigration visas." The post was made in support of his argument for H-1B visas, which allow a certain number of skilled overseas workers to be employed in America. "We named @Tesla after Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest engineers ever," wrote Musk. "He was a penniless immigrant whose inventions led to American dominance in electricity generation and usage." However, Musk posted a photo of the actor Nicholas Hoult rather than a photo of the inventor himself.
In the image, Hoult was playing Nikola Tesla in the 2017 film, The Current War. Houlty saw the post and commented, "Clearly a very convincing performance I gave here.

Only a few films did a great job at the box office in 2024. While critically acclaimed movies like Deadpool & Wolverine and Dune: Part Two became blockbuster hits, others like Joker: Folie à Deux and Megalopolis faced heavy criticism and flopped at the box office.
There were even surprise hits like Inside Out 2‘s billion-dollar success and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire‘s franchise-topping numbers.

Charles Schulz's Peanuts and Jim Davis' Garfield are the two most beloved comic strips of all time, and not only did the creators influence each other, but Schulz actually redesigned Davis' creation as a personal favor. This was no one-time change, either, with Davis incorporating Schulz's alteration into what fans would consider Garfield's modern design.
In an interview with Heritage Auctions (included below), Davis discusses how Schulz redesigned his iconic tabby cat. Animating Garfield's first TV special, 1982's Here Comes Garfield, Davis realized that Garfield's design made it impossible for the cartoon cat to dance over the credits as he'd intended.
"I was having a terrible time with it," Davis admits, "because he had these tiny little feet and this big round body." Thankfully, Davis quickly discovered that Charles Schulz was just one room over, working on a Peanuts special. Not only did Schulz have the answer -...

It seems ridiculous to consider a world without Garfield, as the ornery orange cat has become a mainstay in pop culture, and has been a fan-favorite comic character (and franchise) since the very first strip was published in 1978. But, believe it or not, Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, admits that Garfield’s success was 10,000 to 1, and that “the odds were heavily against me”.
In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, Jim Davis opens up about his career as a cartoonist - a career that’s centered around Garfield. But before Garfield was published (or even conceived), Davis worked as an assistant cartoonist while trying to come up with his own original comic. Davis workshopped a number of ideas, including Gnorm Gnat and Jon, and he’d send these comic strips off to newspapers across the country hoping to get published. Eventually, that hard work and tenacity paid off with the...

It’s not the best streamer when it comes to Christmas movies, but there are some hidden gems.
Like many relatively new streaming services, Peacock doesn’t have nearly the library of holiday films as some of the larger, more established platforms. However, it is not completely bereft of quality options. While I wouldn’t recommend subscribing to the NBCUniversal streamer specifically for its Christmas offerings, if you already have a subscription there is small, but eclectically interesting, group of holiday movies you can stream to keep you merry and bright through the end of the year.
Both the original “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the animated remake “The Grinch” are available on Peacock; they even have a Grinch-themed Yule Log channel that you can put on in the background if you want to make sure that your holiday parties have a little tinge of mischief in the air.

The romantic comedy “A Nice Indian Boy,” starring Karan Soni (“Deadpool”) and Jonathan Groff is getting a nationwide theatrical release.
Levantine Films and Wayfarer Studios, which produced the film, have tapped Blue Harbor Entertainment to handle U.S. distribution, with a theatrical release date set for April 4.
The film follows Naveen (Soni) as he brings his fiancé Jay (Groff) home to meet his traditional Indian family who, as the film’s logline explains, “must contend with accepting Naveen’s white-orphan-artist boyfriend and helping them plan the Indian wedding of their dreams.” The cast also includes Sunita Mani, Zarna Garg (“Zarna”) and Harish Patel.
“A Nice Indian Boy” is directed by Roshan Sethi from a script penned by Eric Randall, based on the play by Madhuri Shekar (“3 Body Problem” and “The Nevers”).

It seems like box office showdowns have become all the rage in the wake of last year's Barbenheimer phenomenon, with "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" both becoming gigantic hits. Earlier this year, we saw "The Garfield Movie" and "Furiosa" face off but the whole Garfuiosa thing didn't really catch on, to put it mildly. More recently, "Gladiator II" and "Wicked" gave us the double bill that was Glicked, which was another big success. To finish out the year, we've got Paramount's "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" duking it out with Disney's prequel "Mufasa: The Lion King." While I don't have a cute nickname for this showdown (Mufasic?), the theaters are going to be the winners here.
Currently, it looks like "Sonic 3" has the edge over "Mufasa." As of this writing, the third live-action "Sonic" film from director Jeff Fowler is looking at a debut of at least $55 million, while the prequel to...

The Far Side is easily one of the funniest comic strips in existence, but the reason it has remained so timeless is that it’s completely unique. Unlike other comic strips (like Garfield or Calvin and Hobbes), The Far Side doesn’t have a main character. Sure, it has some recurring characters, but mostly The Far Side’s illustrations serve to highlight any given joke unique to an individual comic.
It’s that method of individualized comics that’s how The Far Side can get away with having comics starring the likes of aliens, babies, and even animals. In fact, jokes using animals as the punchline are a staple in The Far Side, as the series has no shortage of hilarious comics featuring anthropomorphic cows, scheming goldfish, and biblical moles. And out of them all, these are the 10 funniest Far Side comics that forever changed readers' views on animals!

Garfield is one of the most iconic franchises in history, and it’s so widely popular and massively successful because of one thing: Garfield is hilarious. Garfield got its start as a newspaper comic strip back in the late ‘70s, and that comic strip is still going strong to this day. Throughout that time, Garfield continuously evolved, changing its sense of humor to keep from becoming stagnant and boring. Here’s how.
In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, Jim Davis discusses his career as a cartoonist, and explains how Garfield went from being a side character in another comic strip to becoming one of the biggest pop culture icons to date. Before creating the Garfield comic strip, Davis worked as an assistant cartoonist while workshopping ideas for his own original comic strip. One of Davis’ early comics was Gnorm Gnat, but after realizing readers had a hard time identifying with a bug,...
