Netflix is dropping 31 movies and series the first week of June 2025
Image
You only have a couple of days to watch a bunch of movies, and a handful of series, that will be leaving Netflix in the first week of June 2025. Some months are worse, of course. You might see nearly 50 things leave in some months.

The other key below is that if something is leaving on June 1, that means as of 12:01 am Et, it's gone. You have through the very end of May to stream the flick or show. The first day of each month is the toughest, so of the 31 titles leaving Netflix to start June, 27 of them are at the beginning of the first day.

If you are a Mark Wahlberg, Hugh Grant, or Keira Knightley fan, you might want to call off from work Friday and stay home. Some movies you like will be gone by Sunday. (We apologize in advance for the bad news.)

50 Cent Doubles Down On Ripping Sean “Diddy” Combs For Gun Threats Revealed In Trial Testimony – Update
Image
(Updated with more mocking from 50 Cent) 50 Cent isn’t scheduled to testify in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex-trafficking trial, but the Power franchise executive producer captured the courtroom spotlight today with a well executed swipe at his longtime nemesis.

Coming off the Memorial Day long weekend, Tuesday morning saw former Diddy aide Capricorn Clark on the stand for the prosecution with insider intel on the alleged violence, threats, polygraph tests, and dual kidnappings the witness said she experienced over her various stints working for the “I’ll Be Missing You” performer.

Expected to last at least another six to seven weeks, the criminal trial of the much-accused and currently incarcerated Combs follows his arrest last September on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution and more. The 55-year-old Combs faces the rest of his life behind bars in federal prison if found guilty by the jury in this case.

Gerard Butler’s Classic 26% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Thriller Steals Top Streaming Spot
Image
A classic Gerard Butler action movie has become a streaming hit more than 15 years after it hit theaters. Butler stars alongside Jamie Foxx in Law Abiding Citizen, the crime drama that follows a man who takes justice into his own hands after someone who killed one of his family members goes free. The film is streaming exclusively on Starz, where it has climbed to the top of the streamer’s charts, sitting at #1 at the time of writing. This profound success comes not long after Lionsgate announced Law Abiding Citizen would receive a 4K Blu-ray steelbook. The film earned a “rotten” 26% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter landed at a respectable 75%. It grossed $127 million at the box office in 2009 against a $50 million budget.

Kurt Wimmer wrote the script for Law Abiding Citizen, and F. Gary Gray directed the film. Law Abiding Citizen remains one of the most...

Here’s What’s Leaving Netflix in June 2025

Here’s another look at what’s leaving Netflix in the United States soon. This is your full guide to all the movies and shows set to leave the platform. That includes Netflix Originals, Sony and Universal movies, and other popular titles.

If you’re wondering why these shows and movies are leaving, the reason is simple. Netflix doesn’t own most of them. It rents them from big studios like Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros. When those rental deals end, the titles leave, sometimes after a month, sometimes after a few years. Even some Netflix Originals leave when their licenses run out. So if you’re wondering whether your favorite movie or show is leaving Netflix next month, here’s a full list:

Take the Country and Run: On “The Order” and “Den of Thieves”
Image
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.Americans love bank robbers. It’s part of our shared mythos. As the song goes, Jesse James stole from the rich and gave to the poor, and the American cinematic canon has followed his example. From James to Butch Cassidy to Bonnie & Clyde and onward, our rebel outlaws have also been all-American entrepreneurs, moving fast and breaking stuff and reaping the perilous reward. Whether lone gunmen or skilled operators, all operate by a similar creed: In America, you get yours by any means necessary. In Christian Gudegast’s Den of Thieves (2018), it’s a gang of ex-Marines to answer this call. When their attempt to steal an armored car goes south, Ray (Pablo Schreiber) and his crew wipe out the responding officers using tactics they learned in Iraq. Dressed in black fatigues and tactical vests, they treat the parking lot of an outlying Los Angeles...

Gerard Butler’s 26% Rotten Tomatoes Cult Classic Crime Thriller Gets 4K Blu-ray Steelbook
Image
Gerard Butler kicked off the 2025-year in movies with Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, but the film failed to live up to the box office standards set by its predecessor. However, for stars with as dense a filmography as Butler, this is only a small blemish among a large library of hits. One of those hits came in the form of Law Abiding Citizen, the 2009 R-rated crime thriller that grossed over $127 million at the box office. Lionsgate has announced that Law Abiding Citizen, which also stars Jamie Foxx, will receive a new 4K Blu-ray steel box coming tomorrow, May 20. Critics and audiences were severely split on the film upon release, leading to it earning a “rotten” 26% from the former and 75% from the latter on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Butler may not have started the year with a bang, but he’s due to star in a movie coming to...

Netflix users are in for a rough June as a wave of beloved titles is set to vanish from the platform. The cuts hit hard and wide, starting June 1 and continuing through the month, affecting everything from action-packed blockbusters to children’s classics.

Arden Cho & Margaret Cho To Star In Rom-Com ‘Cheap Af’
Image
Exclusive: Arden Cho (Partner Track) and Margaret Cho (Dying for Sex) have signed on to star in Cheap Af, a romantic comedy from first-time feature director Roy Hsu, who also penned the script.

Cheap Af tells the story of a money-saving influencer (Arden Cho) seeking her big break, who risks losing her wedding and relationships when she goes all out to win Wedding Magazine’s “Best Wedding on a Budget” social media competition.

In a statement to Deadline, Hsu observed that “America is a melting pot, and many immigrants share common experiences regardless of race—parents chasing better futures, valuing education, and, yes, saving every penny.” His hope with the film has been “to tell a comedic bridezilla story about two women competing for the cheapest wedding, though at its core, the film is about letting go of the past and discovering what truly matters—all through an Asian-American lens...

15 Best Movies Like Den Of Thieves
Image
Few subgenres are as classically thrilling as a good, old-fashioned cop-and-robbers story. "Den of Thieves" scratches that itch extremely well with a squad from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department needing to stop a heist about to be carried out at the Federal Reserve. With Gerard Butler playing the cop and a crew that consists of Pablo Schreiber as the leader and O'Shea Jackson Jr. as the driver, it's no wonder the film was a surprise hit when it came out in 2018.

In fact, the film did so well it warranted a 2025 sequel, "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera." It's astonishing to think "Den of Thieves" is now a full-blown film franchise, especially when it was originally supposed to be a TV series. But after watching these two fun crime movies, you may want to see what other variations exist of cops outsmarting the bad guys (or vice versa). Fortunately, there...

Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera
Image
Gerard Butler is one of those actors who exists in a category all of his own: a subgenre unto himself. 2018’s Den Of Thieves was among the better of Butler’s prolific recent output, the film that introduced the world to the classically Butlerian role of ‘Big Nick’ O’Brien: a grizzled detective in the Los Angeles Major Crimes Unit with a shit-eating grin, a disastrous home life, a chain-smoking cigarette habit, and a distaste for playing things by the book.

The first film established a kind of trashy, brashy take on Michael Mann’s Heat: a two-sides-of-the-same-coin cops-and-robbers relationship between Butler’s Big Nick and Pablo Schreiber's bank robber Ray Merrimen. That frenemy dynamic returns, this time between Big Nick and O’Shea Jackson Jr's heist mastermind Donnie.

Look, nobody’s saying they’re De Niro and Pacino, but the dynamic between Big Nick and Donnie gets more interesting in this sequel,...

50 Cent Sues Ryan Kavanaugh to Block Release of GenTV’s ‘Skillhouse,’ Says He Was Never Paid for Acting Role
Image
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson sued Ryan Kavanagh and his GenTV streamer Thursday, alleging the filmmaker-producer failed to pay him for his acting role on the project “Skillhouse.” Jackson seeks at least $5 million and also alleges trademark infringement, false advertising and unfair competition.

Jackson shot the scenes in question under the assumption that a deal would be worked out with Kavanaugh and GenTV. The most the group agreed to was a term sheet that was never finalized, yet the platform continued to use Jackson’s name to promote the movie.

Both Jackson and his son filmed scenes for the movie “to avoid unnecessary delay and based on a mistaken good-faith belief in Kavanaugh’s promises and reputation,” the filing claims, but “no final agreement was ever signed; nevertheless, Defendants have billed Jackson as the star and producer of the Film.”

Kavanaugh and GenTV are further accused of planning “to steal Jackson’s...

‘Jewel Thief’ Netflix Review: A Waste Of Jaideep Ahlawat & Saif Ali Khan’s Talents

What the hell happened to heist movies? To be specific, what happened to Indian heist movies? Do you all remember Aankhen? It’s not just one of the best Hindi heist movies of all time; it’s one of the best heist movies, period. Everything from the concept to the performances was perfect. Despite not liking them as much as everyone else, I have to admit that the Dhoom movies were pretty influential, especially in terms of bike sales. Don 2 reigns supreme in this category of films in the Indian subcontinent and overseas, not just because it had Shah Rukh Khan in it, but also due to the craft on display! The first half of Lootera was centered around a heist, while the second half was about its repercussions. And that’s the last good caper film that I can remember. After that we got half-baked entries like Kick,...

Everything We Know About Red Sonja (2025)
Image
Last Updated on April 12, 2025

Who doesn’t love a character that will threaten to cleave your head from your body with their mighty sword? The old Hercules films starring Steve Reeves up to the Conan films of the 80s showed that audiences were ready to head back to a mystical world. After the success of the Schwarzenegger Conan films, film mogul Dino de Laurentiis saw an opportunity to make a female-led film of the same genre. Red Sonja was released in 1985 and ultimately was a box office flop. Those of us who saw it as kids still loved it and put it alongside the Conan films as a trilogy. It has since gained a cult following. Ever since then, another Red Sonja film has been in the works in some form or another and has yet to be made. This fall, we will finally see the red-haired warrior grace the big screen again,...

Gerard Butler's Critically Panned Disaster Movie Finds New Life on Netflix
Image
Gerard Butler has had many successful projects, and his name is still drawing a lot of attention. Now, his critically panned disaster movie is getting new success on Netflix, despite not having the best reception when it was released in theaters.

2017's Geostorm was not a huge hit with the critics or viewers. However, the film, which continues the same trend of other disaster movies about the world ending, has a new chance at life thanks to streaming. Geostorm hit Netflix on April 1, and it has quickly become a hit on the platform, per Tudum.

For the week between March 31 and April 6,Geostorm debuted in fourth place on the global charts with 4.9 million views and 8.9 million hours viewed. The numbers aren't as high as other debuts, but it was still significant, considering that it only debuted in the United States.

Geostorm landed in third place behind the romantic drama The Life List,...

'How to Train Your Dragon' Live-Action First Reactions are Incredible
Image
The live-action remake of the beloved animated outing How to Train Your Dragon soared into CinemaCon with a first screening. Written, produced and directed by Dean DeBlois, the filmmaker behind the original, animated How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, the upcoming remake stars Mason Thames taking the lead as the dragon-loving Viking, Hiccup.

Following the exclusive look at the new movie, the first reactions on social media have been mostly blazing, but there are still some ready to throw water on the fire. The general feeling is that the new version of the movie is a worthy live-action remake, but lacks any kind of risk taking as it sticks very close to the original film. On X, Jeremy Kazieva gushed that the film is "The Best Live-action Film I’Ve Seen. This was literally just like the animated movie, so if you enjoyed that, you’ll Really love this too!

‘Carjackers’ Prime Video Review: A Derivative French Heist Film With Decent Performances
Image
Is the “eat the rich” subgenre headed downhill, or are we, as viewers, becoming too critical of it? 2019 was probably the year when artists from all corners of the globe cried out in unison against the economic divide through their work. Hence, we got anti-classist stories like Parasite, Knives Out, Aadhaar, and more. While we were losing our minds during the Covid-19 pandemic and watching how the wealthy were using even a devastating situation like that to oppress people and widen the gap between the upper and lower classes, Squid Game arrived in 2021. And, due to the popularity of the show, it seemed like people would really get together and reject this form of discrimination and inequality. But as soon as the public started cosplaying as the characters, while streaming platforms and YouTubers organized real-life versions of the Squid Game, I guess we began diluting the essence of “eat the rich.

Samuel Goldwyn Acquires ‘Red Sonja’ for 2025 Theatrical Release
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen in El guerrero rojo (1985)
One day after learning that the upcoming Red Sonja movie has been rated “R” for “Strong/bloody violence,” Deadline has shared a new image along with additional information.

For starters, Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired Red Sonja, a new feature film adaptation of the comic books. A theatrical release is being planned here in the U.S. later this year.

M.J. Bassett (Ash vs. Evil Dead) directed the upcoming movie, with Matilda Lutz (Revenge) starring as the title character. Check out a badass new shot of Lutz’s Red Sonja above.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Red Sonja to audiences across the nation. The fanbase for the legendary character is big and passionate and we’re confident that this film will deliver for them,” said Samuel Goldwyn Films president Peter Goldwyn.

'Den of Thieves 2' Is Even Better Than the Original Movie
Image
When Christian Gudegast's Den of Thieves hit theaters in 2018, it was met with mixed reviews. While some viewers praised the film's gritty action and Heat-inspired heist sequences, others criticized the film for its bloated runtime, generic and predictable plot, and underdeveloped characters. The result? A lukewarm 41% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fast-forward to exactly seven years later, and its sequel,Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, has debuted and also made its way onto streaming platforms. The sequel has managed to build upon the original, and, drawing on the positives of the first film, now boasts a more respectable 63% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera sees Gerard Butler's case-hardened detective, "Big Nick" O'Brien, pursue mastermind Donnie Wilson (O'Shea Jackson Jr.) across Europe. Rather than sticking to the first film's formula, which stayed local and saw Nick on the correct side of the law, Den of Thieves 2 takes...

The True Story Behind 'Den of Thieves 2'
Image
Leveling up to the international sphere, the sequel to director Christian Gudegast's 2018 film, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, made its debut in January 2025. The film has now made its way onto Netflix, effortlessly stealing a place at the top of the streamer's chart, and taking viewers on yet another high-stakes ride into the world of professional heists. The original Den of Thieves film was praised for its gritty realism, intense action sequences, and intricate depiction of heist operations. While the franchise has raised the bar even higher with its sequel film, the effect of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is enhanced by the fact that it draws direct inspiration from one of the world's most infamous real-life diamond heists.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is based on the real-life Antwerp Diamond Heist, which occurred in 2003. The robbery, often referred to as "the heist of the century", saw the thieves...

Gerard Butler's Latest Action Film Is Now a Streaming Hit
Image
Gerard Butler started the year right, and it's still going well for him. On Jan. 10, his film Den of Thieves 2: Pantera was among the first movies released this year, and its success continues.

The new action film serves as a sequel to the 2018 film Den of Thieves. Butler reprises his role alongside O'Shea Jackson Jr., with Christian Gudegast returning to write and direct. Following the film's recent release on Netflix, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has become a hit on the platform, Tudum reports.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera ended its theatrical run on Feb. 20, and it was released on Netflix on Mar. 20, only a month after. It didn't take long for the heist action movie to make an impression because the movie premiered in third spot globally for the week between Mar. 17 and 23.

What's even more impressive is that Den of Thieves 2: Pantera was only released in the U.

Gerard Butler's Action-Packed 2025 Heist Movie Is Dominating Netflix
Image
Gerard Butler's Nick "Big Nick" O'Brien has one of the best entrances in film history in "Den of Thieves." Upon rolling up to the aftermath of a deadly shoot-out at a local breakfast joint, the profoundly ethically-questionable Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Detective then proceeds to casually pick up and munch down on a frosted donut from a blood-splattered box on the ground.

Big Nick is a lot like the movie around him. Written and directed by Christian Gudegast, 2018's "Den of Thieves" is a sleazy, booze-soaked tale of badly-behaved cops and charismatic robbers that's both extremely derivative (it's "Heat" with a hangover) and so aggressively heterosexual (between all the machismo and gun fetishizing on display) it comes off as homoerotic, but that's also part of the charm. It was an unexpected hit to boot, pulling in more than $80 million at the box office on a $30 million budget in theaters.

'Took Us by Surprise': Gerard Butler & O'Shea Jackson Jr. on Den of Thieves
Image
There's no denying that Den of Thieves has become a phenomenon. Seven years after the original film, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera arrived to further the story of "Big Nick" O'Brien and Donnie Wilson, which was an accomplishment unto itself. But then audiences responded to the long-awaited sequel with impressive box office receipts, and Lionsgate ordered a third movie. And now Den of Thieves 2 is still sitting in the Netflix Top 10.

In an interview with Cbr, stars Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. gave their reaction to Den of Thieves becoming a universe. They also discussed revisiting their characters after several years away. What were the challenges they faced in rediscovering Big Nick and Donnie for the second time, especially since there's not such an extended gap between the two movies in-universe?

Cbr: Den of Thieves writer-director Christian Gudegast told Cbr he had planned multiple movies in the series from the start.

Gerard Butler’s 63% Rotten Tomatoes Heist Thriller Claims Top Streaming Spot After $56 Million Box Office Disappointment
Image
Gerard Butler’s latest movie arrived on streaming this weekend and wasted no time becoming a success. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera hit Netflix on Friday, and while it had other films such as Kraven the Hunter (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and The Electric State (Chris Pratt) to contend with, it still had no trouble becoming the #1 most popular movie on the streamer. This comes after the film debuted in theaters in January and underperformed at the box office, finishing its global run with only $56 million against a $40 million budget. The first Den of Thieves grossed over $80 million globally, and although its sequel earned the strongest scores from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, it failed to achieve the same box office success.

After earning mostly strong reviews and opening with $15 million at the box office the weekend of January 10, it came as a shock to many to see Den of Thieves 2...

'Den of Thieves 2' Solidified Gerard Butler as a B-Movie Action Hero
Image
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera debuted on Netflix with so much anticipation and excitement that it’s easy to forget that the film began its life as a theatrical release. Indeed, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera only had an 18-day theatrical release window before the sequel was released on VOD. Just as the theatrical and VOD releases of Pantera triggered a resurgence in popularity for the first Den of Thieves film, the sequel’s expected streaming popularity and strong VOD performance led to the announcement of Den of Thieves 3.

Such calculations have defined the recent career of Den of Thieves series star Gerard Butler, whose decidedly formulaic and uninspired starring action vehicles have been primarily geared toward streaming audiences. Accordingly, while the role of rule-breaking Los Angeles police detective Nick O’Brien in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera and its predecessor have provided Butler with arguably the most distinctive and...

'Den of Thieves 2: Pantera' Tops Netflix Streaming Chart on Debut
Image
Gerard Butler knows what he is doing when it comes to delivering solid action movies, and anyone in doubt about this just needs to look at his Den of Thieves franchise. While the original Den of Thieves is still topping the Freevee chart, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has debuted at the top of the Netflix chart after its successful box office run at the beginning of the year.

Den of Thieves: Pantera arrived seven years after the first movie, but the absence did make the heart grow fonder for Butler’s Big Nick. As well as impressing at the box office, the film managed to improve its critical review score to 63% (up from 41% given to its predecessor), and continued to please audiences who were waiting patiently for the franchise to return. The synopsis of Den of Thieves 2 reads:

“Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe...

'Den of Thieves 2' Is on Netflix, but 'Everybody Loves Diamonds' Is Better
Image
Life is stranger than fiction. But fiction always has a desire to replay life’s strangest moments. They go hand in hand. This is certainly the case with the Antwerp diamond heist from 2003. More than $100 million in diamonds were stolen from the Antwerp World Diamond Centre in Belgium. Most recently, this daring robbery was revisited in Gerard Butler’s Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. This cinematic take on the real-world event takes a step further and brings the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, as well as the mafia, into the mix. The sequel to the 2018 crime film also did well enough to garner a sequel as well as spinoffs that will take place in different parts of the world. While the excitement is definitely there, interested viewers should know that another feature from two years ago also took a look at “the heist of the century.”

Exchanging the action for...

'Den of Thieves' Fans Need To Stream Gerard Butler’s 'Law Abiding Citizen'
Image
Both Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx have dazzling Hollywood careers spanning decades, and in 2009, the talented leading men squared off in the pulse-pounding action thriller Law Abiding Citizen, which focuses on a devoted family man-turned-vicious vigilante as he decides to take justice into his own hands and targets not only the legal system but also a prosecuting attorney after his wife and daughter are brutally murdered, and the killer manages to evade the death penalty.

Butler brilliantly goes against type and delivers a fantastic performance as a haunted man on a mission for vengeance, with the flick being the perfect follow-up to the Scotsman's latest exciting release, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. When Law Abiding Citizen made its rip-roaring premiere, fans were blown away by the on-screen showdown between Butler and Foxx, though critics were far less impressed; let's check out why the gripping thriller is worth a watch.

New to Streaming: Anora, Armand, Sing Sing, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Baby Invasion & More
Image
Each week we highlight the noteworthy titles that have recently hit streaming platforms in the United States. Check out this week’s selections below and past round-ups here.

Anora (Sean Baker)

Sean Baker’s Anora expands his filmmaking vision, pushing the writer-director-editor’s fifth consecutive story on sex workers into a higher plane of awards and commercial success. It’s a romantic comedy, a madcap dash around New York City, a movie ruminating on loss, love, and class disparity. Baker aims to put audiences through a ringer of emotional swings, ending with a desolation that’s been building in the background, easier to spot once the tinsel’s shimmer fades. With a true star-making performance from Mikey Madison and a deep bench of supporting actors, Anora whirls until suddenly it doesn’t, and all that’s left is earned, resonant silence from both its characters and audience. – Michael F.
