Concerns about the Roloff Family's Future

I enjoy the show and have watched it for a couple of years. I'm increasingly concerned with what happens to Any and Matt after the kids are all gone from home. Amy is very critical of Matt in front of her children and the kids have become very disrespectful of their father as a result. After all, without Matt's genius in developing the farm and all it's interesting feature's (the pumpkin business, the buildings that are a take-off on parts of, Knott's Berry Farm, etc) this wouldn't be much of a story. Even his leadership of Little People of America which brought him to the attention of TLC made this show possible. Yet at every turn AMy is putting him down--most recently on the European trip--when she makes it clear how much easier it was to travel without Matt. She even criticizes him of using his disability to get special privileges to tour in Paris. Matt's many surgeries and deformed legs makes traveling much more difficult for him than for Amy or Zach who are short but otherwise quite able. in most situations. I doubt that Matt and Amy will stay together after the kids are gone and it wouldn't surprise me if they split long before then.

Amy has so spoiled her children that the twins barely graduated from high school. I think she in particular should be embarrassed for their laziness and lack of initiative in the simplest of tasks. She let them run around night after night playing, driving their vehicles with no rules, no time to be home at night, no emphasis on school work. When Matt would suggest discipline whether to clean up their own mess, fess up to the burned end table etc. she would side with her kids--showing she was much more concerned with being one of the kids and liked by them than being a parent. It really shows her own immaturity. The twins communication skills are deplorable as a result, their social skills lacking and I wonder if they have any chance at any kind of further education. They're not dumb kids and with any kind of guidance should have excelled in high school and had plans by the time thy were juniors to go on college or trade school of some sort. Instead it seems they have no plans other than live off the life their father has given them for which they have no gratitude.

Molly seems to be the most level headed and most intelligent. Jacob on the other hand is so terribly spoiled---just thinking of his "texting" addiction at his age before Matt took the phone away. Why did a boy that age even have a cell phone. His constant whining on their trips and playing with his video games instead of showing any interest in the wonderful opportunities he's had to see so many places other kids would love to see. He shouldn't be allowed to take his toys along or at least should be told when to put them away.

Certainly the money they've made from this TV show has given them opportunities to succeed and I wish them well. I just hope those boys will realize this opportunity won't last forever and eventually they need to grow up and become productive citizens. Soccer and road trips aren't real life anywhere else but on TV.

Why all the negativity about the show?

Why are so many of these comments here bashing Amy? First of all you have to realize that any show of this type is heavily edited to feature the most controversial and exciting scenes, normal day to day activities are boring for the most part. Unless you know the Roloff's personally do not judge their character based on what you see on a TV show, this goes for any "reality" TV you see. There is always editing and the director/editor can paint any picture they want from the raw footage.

I do really enjoy watching the show, initially I got into it for the voyeuristic aspect of the show but now I find myself more interested in the people and their lives. The farm is just crazy with all the play areas and the different crops. I don't think it will ever be the money maker that Matt wants it to be, but it is still a great place for their kids to grow up in and it makes their home a gathering place for friends and neighbors. As an average height person it does help me to see the Roloff's and get to know a little about them. The show has certainly opened my eyes. It was really touching when Amy said that she was afraid that someone was going to take her children away because of her dwarfism. Matt and Amy are definitely the oil and vinegar that keep the show interesting, but they seem to love each other a great deal, and they are doing a good job with the kids. Who cares if the house is messy they are a busy family with 4 kids, its going to get messy. Its not a museum its a home!

    Nothing New or Interesting

Previous seasons felt more "real". New season is just acting in camera for income. I really like Amy. I appreciate Chris helping with divorce transition in order to prevent hatred but I think he goes too far. Nothing wrong with being friends with the ex and it's healthy, but when a person has been toxic and abusive, you can forgive or not forgive and move on. Matt treated Amy really badly on top of having an affair. Chris seems to expect Amy, by being passive aggressive, to not process her feelings. It's ok for her to angry and sad. Let her process it how she needs to. He just seems to never allow her to have any emotion other than happy. Tori and Zach, particularly Tori, are constantly on social media as influencers and watching them on LPBW presents nothing new. Everyone seems like they are trying to act for the camera and it no longer feels like reality. I completely agree with Zach and Tori decision. They don't have to accept the toxic life Matt created. I respect them for that decision. Unfortunately the new season is just not interesting. I think what's great is we no longer view little people as different from everyone else but see them as regular people.

    Amy Roloff

My comment is this. I have seen quite a few episodes of the Program. My only comment is I think Amy(wife) should be a little more supportive of her husband.

For someone that has disabilities i think he does a heck of a good job supporting his family. He is a go-getter and he always has a posit attitude, at least that is what i see on the Program.

One of the Twins(the smaller one( has an attitude towards his father also. I think he is reading this attitude from him mother. Its plain to see . I am not the only one that has seen this, quite of few of my friends and family have said the same thing.

    Little People Big Snooze

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I find this show to be a case of much ado about nothing. I was intrigued with the premise enough to watch a few episodes, but once one gets past the fact that three of the cast members are dwarfs, there is nothing remarkable about this family whatsoever. They seem like a nice enough clan, with their comfortably cluttered house, occasionally bratty kids and a few bothersome health issues... just like pretty much every other family I know. After watching an episode devoted almost entirely to the astonishingly unremarkable task of cleaning the twins' room, I vowed never to waste another 30 minutes of my life in the same manner again. I mean really - if I wanted to see dirty clothes strewn about and dust bunnies under the bed, I could have just gone upstairs. The show is to be commended for attempting to educate viewers about little people and demonstrate how they are essentially "just like you and me", but that is also its downfall - for ordinariness simply hasn't made for compelling TV viewing since the days of "Father Knows Best".

Matthew Roloff: Hi I'm Matt Roloff and this is my wife Amy.

      Amy Roloff: We're little people.

Matthew Roloff: When you're only four feet tall you feel like you're living in a world that wasn't meant for you. I can remember as a child spending my life in the hospital wanting to see the outside world. Now I get to make those dreams come true for our kids on this 40 acre farm in Oregon. My parents live just down the street. They're of average height. It might surprise you to know that Amy's parent's are of average height too. We have four kids.

Amy Roloff: Three of them are of average height and only one of them is little like us.

Matthew Roloff: One thing I wish people would understand about little people.

Amy Roloff: We can do pretty much anything average height people can do. We just do it in a different way.

Matthew Roloff: And this is our story.
