- The king of the faeries sends for a young hunter after his shadow escapes and threatens his kingdom.
- Animated TV special based on a series of popular fantasy books that have their basis in Irish folklore. Young hunter Oisin is returning with his family from an unsuccessful hunt. He notices a fawn and strays away from his group. The fawn turns out to be a beautiful fairy princess who asks him for help. Her father, the fairy king has accidentally given life to his shadow. When it became strong enough it ran away to feed on darkness of the forest and prepare trolls, witches and other creatures to take over the fairy land and bring upon the eternal night over the land forever. The king is certain that young Oisin with the help of the king's assistant, shape-shifting Pan-like goat-boy Puck, can stop his evil shadow. However, they must find the location of the shadow's dark castle first.
- A young boy named Oisin finds a deer while trying to bring some game home for his manhood feast. The deer turns out to be a Faerie called Princess Nimah. Oisin is transported to the Faerie Realm where the King explains thier world is under attack from his enchanted Shadow gone rouge. The evil Shadow is draining all the Faerie folk's power that is why the King asked his daughter to find a Mortal who is not affected. Oisin agrees to help as long as he is retuned home. The King orders Puck the comic shape shifter to go with the boy. While on their travels Oisin and Puck come across three Trows who are fighting over a Kobold they caught for dinner. While arguing, Oisin frees the grateful Kobold who joins their quest. When the three conrads reach the Shadow's lair, the Kobold stays behind and Oisin and Puck go to face off the Shadow. The Shadow is quite frightening and the two are helpless. Luckily, the Kobold (with his candle hat lit) runs from some rats and bats and goes in the lair as well. The Kobold's light helps Oisin produce a shadow just as big as the dark villian himself. The two shadows battle. Oisin is wounded at first but brings in more courage and defeats the Shadow who skrinks in size and vainishes. The castle falls apart after the Shadow is defeated and Puck morphs into an eagle and brings Oisin and Kobold back to saftey. The Faerie King thanks the heros and announces that his shadow has returned to normal and all their powers are back. Oisin says his goodbyes and is returned to the real world. Where his horse has many animals strapped to the saddle. Oisin's hunting party is amazed on how quickly he hunted and how grown up he has become. Story ends where their riding back home and an owl winks to Oisin who is no other then Puck himself.
