Valery Alekseyevich Legasov

Chief of the commission investigating the Chernobyl disaster.

Legasov is portrayed by Jared Harris in the HBO mini-series Chernobyl (2019).

Committed suicide on April 27, 1988, one day after the 2nd anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. It attracted attention of the scientist community about the real danger of radiation on people after the disaster (Legasov recorded some tapes talking about it, which were key to take it seriously).
