Why Logan Calls Rory Ace In Gilmore Girls
Image
Fans of "Gilmore Girls," Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino's cozy series about a mother and daughter living in the small hamlet of Stars Hollow, know that the younger Gilmore, Rory (Alexis Bledel), has three major relationships throughout the course of the show. As her mother Lorelai (Lauren Graham) looks on, Rory dates Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki) and Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) while she's still in high school at the prestigious Chilton Academy, and when she enrolls at Yale University, Rory meets the wealthy, quick-witted Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry) and is immediately smitten. Sure, Rory has other trysts and flings, but these three guys are her main partners, and ever since the series ended in 2007, fans have been arguing about which one is best at length.

I could go on at length about how Dean is an emotional black hole and wet mop dressed up to look like a real boy who,...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has been a hit with critics and audiences since it debuted on Disney+ on Jan. 29, 2025. Spider-Man has had many animated series over the years, and his origin story has been told countless times in comics and on film, so the fact that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man can do it in a refreshing way that feels new and exciting speaks volumes about it. The series honors many eras of Spider-Man, and one way it does that is with the costumes. The series features a prototype suit, and trailers have shown it featuring the classic red and blue suit, but along the way, Spider-Man will test out a few suits from the comics, ones that haven't gotten the spotlight before.

Episode 4 "Hitting the Big Time" sees Peter Parker test out four new suits. Three of the new Spider-Man costumes come from...

Image
There are few shows as cozy and endlessly re-watchable as Gilmore Girls. This is largely thanks to the warm, fantastical atmosphere offered by the main setting of Stars Hollow and the lovable characters that inhabit it. Gilmore Girls is an iconic series, and it's the strength of its characters and their relationships with each other that make it so special. Whether someone is most interested in steamy romances, powerful friendships, or complex familial relationships, the show has something for everyone. There are far more than just 10 engaging, hilarious, and/or tragic relationships in Gilmore Girls, but these are the ones that make the WB dramedy what it is.

Gilmore Girls Review: This Classic Series Is More Than Just A Guilty Pleasure To Rewatch - It's Surprisingly Deep
Image
In October of 2025, it will have been 25 years since Gilmore Girls premiered, and in many ways, we're watching the series as if not a day has passed. For many contemporary fans, their first time watching Gilmore Girls wasn't when the series originally aired on the WB (later the CW), but years later when the show became a standby of streaming television. Starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as Lorelai and Rory, the series follows pivotal years of the women's lives as they grow up together in their quirky town of Stars Hollow, handling problems eccentric and otherwise.

In the fictional town of Star's Hollow, single mother Lorelai Gilmore raises her high-achieving teenage daughter Rory. Mother and daughter rely on each other throughout their own life changes, romantic entanglements, and friendships.

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life Almost Brought Back Max Medina, And It's A Relief That It Didn't Happen
Image
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life tied up many loose ends from Gilmore Girls nine years later. However, Max Medina (Scott Cohen) is not one of them. Max was Lorelai Gilmore's (Lauren Graham) first fianc, and Rory Gilmore's (Alexis Bledel) former Chilton Academy teacher. Lorelai ends her relationship with Max by abruptly leaving town on their wedding day, and has several other relationships before ultimately ending up with Luke Danes (Scott Patterson).

While several of Lorelai's exes make appearances in A Year In The Life, Max is notably absent. Lorelai's other exes, Christopher Hayden (David Sutcliffe) and Jason "Digger" Stiles (Chris Eigeman) appear in A Year In The Life because both still have ties to Lorelai's life years after their relationships with her. Christopher is Rory's father, and Jason is a friend and business partner of Lorelai's late father, Richard Gilmore (Edward Hermann). Since Max has no connection to Lorelai anymore,...

Rory's A Year In The Life Story Suggests A Sad Logan Plot If Gilmore Girls Season 9 Ever Happens
Image
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life served as a much-needed Gilmore Girls reunion upon its 2016 release, yet one detail from the miniseries suggests that any potential follow-up will feature a sad Logan story. The four-episode reunion saw Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore get married, Richard Gilmore's death, and Rory's shocking pregnancy announcement. A key theme for the sequel as in the original show is the exploration of generational patterns. However, the story's cyclical structure suggests that, if Gilmore Girls season 9 happens, a heartbreaking piece of history could repeat itself.

Rory was born while her parents were 16 years old, and her mother, Lorelai Gilmore, insisted upon raising her on her own. Lorelai feared being pressured into marrying Rory's father, Christopher, so young, and moved to the small town of Stars Hollow, to start a new life. In adulthood, Rory meets a similar fate in her 30s, having an...

Why Some Gilmore Girl Fans Still Love this Divisive Character
Image
Gilmore Girls, starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, remains a beloved show nearly a quarter-century after its premiere, largely due to the colorful townsfolk of Stars Hollow. The small-town, down-to-earth attitudes of supporting characters like Luke, Sookie, and Kirk are balanced out by the opulence and worldly ideals of Lorelais parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore.

With such a stark dichotomy between the elder Gilmores and the charm of the rest of the Stars Hollow characters, it would be easy for fans to dislike Richard and Emily. However, Kelly Bishop brings Emily Gilmore to life in such a way that many Gilmore Girls fans love the character, even if some aspects of her character should make her one of the least-liked people in the Amy Sherman-Palladino show.

Emily Doesnt Understand or Respect Boundaries, but She Does Things Out of Love

Emilys behavior toward both Lorelai and Rory can come off as manipulative or overbearing,...

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life Proves Rory Should Have Listened To Logan 10 Years Earlier
Image
Logan Huntzberger was the third and final of Rory Gilmore's boyfriends over the course of the seven-season run of Gilmore Girls. Despite the rocky beginning to the pair's relationship during their college years at Yale, Logan proves to be a solid match for Rory given their shared backgrounds and goals and his support for her. Logan shows his support for Rory through his honesty. Although sometimes blunt, Logan consistently keeps Rory's best interests at heart, and sometimes calls out her shortcomings.

Gilmore Girls famously ends with Rory turning down Logan's marriage proposal at their college graduation, and instead of moving to California with him to expand his tech company, she heads to Iowa to follow the Barack Obama presidential campaign trail as a journalist. The shocking break-up does not last for long, as in 2016's reunion Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, it is revealed that they are still together,...

Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons before the show was canceled, and it eventually got a four-episode Netflix revival called A Year in the Life. With the beloved series continuing for so long, it's no surprise that the later seasons and revival feel different from the earlier outings of the show. Gilmore Girls' Gilmore Family Tree Explained
Image
Gilmore Girls is a beloved comedy drama that remains culturally relevant with its memorable characters and small-town charm. The Gilmore family tree is complex, with numerous marriages, breakups, and children, making it difficult to keep track of everyone's relationships. Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are at the center of the show, with Lorelai's relationship with her parents and Rory's academic pursuits and romantic entanglements being major storylines.

Gilmore Girls is one of the most popular comedy dramas, with continued cultural relevance years after its conclusion, and here is a breakdown of the somewhat complicated Gilmore family tree. The show first premiered in 2000 and has had extreme popularity, leading to a one-season reboot called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. 10 Harsh Realities Of Rewatching Gilmore Girls 23 Years Later
Image
While Gilmore Girls might be a comforting re-watch for many, there are a lot of brutal realities that come to light while trying to revisit the ‘00s dramedy 23 years later. Gilmore Girls was a dramedy series that followed the lives of Lorelai Gilmore, a single mother and inn owner, and her daughter Rory. A precocious overachiever, Rory was an A student with dreams of attending Harvard. Lorelai's stuffy parents could facilitate this thanks to their extraordinary wealth, but they were only willing to support Rory’s expensive education if she and her mother attended a weekly dinner with them. Thus, Emily and Richard Gilmore rounded out the show’s cast.

Outside of Lorelai’s frequent fights with her parents, Gilmore Girls also focused on the love lives of its two heroines. Lorelai dated many Gilmore Girls love interests over the years, most notably Rory’s biological father Christopher, and the...

Gilmore Girls: What Richard Actor's Wife Star Herrmann Thought Of The Revival
Image
The Gilmore Girls revival, A Year in the Life, was met with critical praise and allowed viewers to catch up with the main cast after the show ended. The absence of Edward Herrmann's character, Richard Gilmore, was deeply felt, but his widow and daughters were pleased with how he was honored in the show. Edward Herrmann's widow stated that she couldn't watch the revival for a long time due to the emotional pain of his loss, but ultimately felt that he would have loved it.

The widow of the late Gilmore Girls star Edward Herrman gave her thoughts on the revival, and Star Herrmann had interesting things to say about Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Debuting on Netflix in 2016, the long-awaited revival miniseries finally caught up with Rory and Lorelai nearly two decades after the original series first premiered. Noted for its close adherence to the original spirit of the show,...

Gilmore Girls: How The Late Edward Herrmann Was Like His Character Richard
Image
Edward Herrmann's death was painful for the cast of Gilmore Girls, as he was a staple in the show and considered family by his co-stars. Herrmann's dedicated nature mirrored that of his character Richard, and he earned respect and love from his own family and the Gilmore Girls cast. Kelly Bishop, who played Emily, said Herrmann had an "elitist attitude" like Richard, while still being friends with anyone. His mischievous spirit even played a trick on set during the filming of the revival.

In Gilmore Girls, Edward Herrmann played Richard Gilmore, and the actor shared some similarities with the character. The series follows Lorelai (Lauren Graham) raising her teenage daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) as a single mother with the hopes Rory will attend an Ivy League university. When Lorelai cannot pay the tuition for Rory's private high school, her estranged parents Richard and Emily (Kelly Bishop) loan her the...

Why Gilmore Girls: Ayitl Should Never Have Happened
Image
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life (Ayitl) should never have happened as it did. A limited series to tie up loose ends in Stars Hollow is a good idea in theory, but Ayitl's execution left much to be desired. Releasing in 2016, the four-episode miniseries seemed like an interesting addendum to the original seven season comedy-drama, offering to fill in narrative blanks and revisit classic characters. Unfortunately Gilmore Girls: Ayitl retained all the worst parts of Gilmore Girls without any of its charm.

Given that there are 10 years between the end of Gilmore Girls and A Year In The Life, it's perhaps unsurprising that the miniseries made some significant narrative changes. However, despite the understandable development of the main characters and constant callbacks to the original Gilmore Girls, Ayitl ultimately failed to strike the correct balance between storytelling and nostalgia to satisfy fans. While critics generally regarded the revival well...

Gilmore Girls: The Main Characters, Ranked By Bravery
Image
This past October marked the 22nd anniversary of Gilmore Girls' premiere episode, which prompted Melissa McCarthy to post about her fond memories from the series. Though it has been off-air for fifteen years, the fandom has remained devoted to the series, despite the generally negative response to A Year in the Life. The revival showed where the characters ended up nine years later, and an unfortunately small number managed to stick with their beliefs, while most lost their courage.

On Gilmore Girls, bravery was rarely a matter of running into a fire or jumping off cliffs. Instead, bravery was being strong enough to be yourself, regardless of those who disagreed. While some characters embraced that ideal with everything they had, others lived their lives primarily for comfort, clinging to safety instead of reaching for their dreams. Following that line, the Gilmore Girls characters can be sorted according to their bravery...

Gilmore Girls: 10 Of The Wisest Quotes From Richard Gilmore
Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls (2000)
Richard Gilmore is the patriarchal centerpiece for the hit television series, Gilmore Girls. This character was portrayed by the late actor, Edward Hermann, who passed away seven years after the show's finale in December of 2014. Richard had a very commanding and somewhat intimidating presence, especially in the earlier seasons, but he also had beautiful moments with each of the women in his life that showed a softer side to the character and the actor playing him.

In a lot of ways, Richard Gilmore was the glue that held all of the Gilmore girls together. He took care of them when they needed it, but also gave them the space they needed to figure things out on their own. He found the perfect balance as a husband, father, and grandfather, and Emily, Lorelei, and Rory are better for it.

Gilmore Girls Season 8 Episode 4 Review: Fall

There are some finales that go down in history for their perfection, for the careful care that's paid to find a balance that gives fans what they want, while also serving the characters whom they took a long journey with.

Not every show can have an ending like Cheers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Breaking Bad.

Some shows suffer from the creator staying devoted to an ending before the story is finished being told. (We all remember the divisive How I Met Your Mother Finale.)

Gilmore Girls Season 8 Episode 1 Review: Winter
It's been nine years since we said goodbye to Rory Gilmore as she went off on the campaign trail with Barak Obama, Luke and Lorelai reunited, and Stars Hollow threw one hell of a going away party for the Gilmore Girls.

But that ending wasn't enough.

Longtime fans of the series were unsatisfied. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino had been at the helm of the series for six years. But they left before the show was finished, and the story that they were telling was placed on hold, replaced with stories that felt like the Upside Down of Stranger Things.

Everything looked about right. But everything and everyone was just way off base.

So we flash-forward, nine years later. The stars aligned and the Gilmore Girls are back on Netflix, sans Richard (Edward Herrmann passed away in 2014 leaving a gaping hole in the Gilmore family), with the...

‘Gilmore Girls’: Why Lauren Graham Refused at First to Read the Revival’s Final Script
Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls (2000)
Forget about the now-infamous final four words of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” Lauren Graham couldn’t even make herself read the final script for Netflix’s four-part revival series.

“For the longest time, I couldn’t read ‘Fall,’ which is our last episode,” the actress told a small group of reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in late July. “I was like, ‘This is psychotic. I have to read where this ends up.’ But I think I was both worried it wouldn’t be satisfying and also kind of just wanted to save it. Eventually I read it, and it was very satisfying.”

‘Gilmore Girls’ Cast and Crew Reveal the Challenges of Rebuilding Stars Hollow for the Revival

Move over, “Pretty Little Liars.” The “Gilmore Girls” are back in town, literally.

For Netflix’s revival, the “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” production team had the daunting task of recreating all of the original Stars Hollow sets that were so essential to the series’ quirky but charming small-town feel and storylines. Part of the problem was that most of the structures originally used on Warner Bros.’s Burbank, Calif. backlot were repurposed for the sets on Freeform’s “Pretty Little Liars.”

But now with Netflix’s revival “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” nearly 10 years have passed and Rory is back in Stars Hollow… and so are all of her exes. Over the course of four installments tied to each of the four seasons — winter, spring, summer and fall — we’ll see if Rory still feels sparks with any of them.

‘Gilmore Girls’ Scott Patterson on Getting Back Into Character to Play Luke and the Netflix Revival’s Raised Stakes
Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls (2000)
Returning to Stars Hollow is many “Gilmore Girls” fans’ dream, but Scott Patterson didn’t find it that simple.

The baseball player-turned-actor had played curmudgeonly diner owner Luke Danes for seven seasons in the original series, but couldn’t quite get back into character the first day he went to set for the Netflix revival, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.”

“I thought it would be easy, but the reality set in right away. My first scene was in the diner, and I did not feel comfortable,” he told a small group of reporters in late July. “I didn’t feel like I had him yet. We did a quick rehearsal, got the blocking down, and something was off. So I said to [creator Amy Sherman-Palladino], ‘I need to take a little walk around Stars Hollow. I need a minute to get this guy.’ Because I’ve changed. I’ve had a son,...

Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)
It’s the return that has us reeling.

After nine years, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) return to the familiar Stars Hollow gazebo and cozy Luke’s coffee shop for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but the characters’ paths there couldn’t be more different.

“For each character who’s living in a different decade, it’s sort of the the quintessential question: What does one face at this age?” Graham tells Entertainment Weekly.

For all three Gilmore women — including Kelly Bishop’s Emily — a new decade means a new chapter for their characters,...

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life: Full Trailer Released!
It's almost time for us to check back in with Lorelai and Rory Gilmore!

Yes, after all these years, the show is returning for a short stint on Netflix.

Who would have thought it would wind up on Netflix of all places?

I mean, the show has aired on both The WB and The CW, so it was odd that it wound up on the streaming giant.

The signature pop culture references are well and truly back and we just can't wait to see what fast dialog the Gilmore women have in store for us.

It's not a full season we're getting, but it's the next best thing.

It's essentially four movies that will span a whole year.

We know there are a lot of past characters returning.

We can't wait to see the likes of Liza Weil and Melissa McCarthy.

It should be intriguing to find out just what...

See First Official Photos From the 'Gilmore Girls' Revival
Welcome back to Stars Hollow! "Gilmore Girls" stars Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore) and Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) are on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly, which has the first official photos and details on the Netflix revival.

There's no official release date yet, but four 90-minute mini movies are expected on the streaming service later this year. EW visited the Warner Bros. soundstage in February, and the magazine (on newsstands Friday) has scoop on Rory's career (looks like she's a teacher); Lorelai and Luke (Scott Patterson); guest stars like Sutton Foster and Mae Whitman (and apparently Sally Struthers, seen in a photo below); and Emily's (Kelly Bishop) life as a widow, after the death of Edward Herrmann, who played her husband, Richard Gilmore.

Plus, there are reportedly plans for more movies after this 2016 batch. Maybe Melissa McCarthy can return as Sookie in a future installment, since the timing was off this time around.

Will Melissa McCarthy Return for 'Gilmore Girls' Netflix Revival?
Melissa McCarthy
While most of the main cast has been confirmed to return for Netflix's upcoming Gilmore Girls revival series, it remains unclear if Melissa McCarthy will reprise her role as Sookie. In response to being asked if she would participate, the actress, who became a big star after her time spend on The CW drama, simply replied 'No One Asked Me.' But that may not be entirely true.

This past Monday, Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told TVLine that Melissa McCarthy has an open invitation to return in one of the four new episodes being produced. But that message obviously hasn't reached the actress. She had this to say on her official Twitter.

"Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!"

Melissa McCarthy skyrocketed to fame after her time spent on Gilmore Girls, first with her breakout role in 2011's Bridesmaids.

A lot of attention has been paid to who may or may not be participating in Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival.
