This past October marked the 22nd anniversary of Gilmore Girls' premiere episode, which prompted Melissa McCarthy to post about her fond memories from the series. The revival had emotional moments and all the familiar faces that fans loved were back, except for the sad passing of Richard Gilmore. Even though fans couldn't wait for these new episodes, it's safe to say that the revival had some highs and some lows. In some ways, A Year in the Life felt more powerful than the original, but in other cases, it was a bit disappointing.

Richard Gilmore is the patriarchal centerpiece for the hit television series, Gilmore Girls. This character was portrayed by the late actor, Edward Hermann, who passed away seven years after the show's finale in December of 2014. Richard had a very commanding and somewhat intimidating presence, especially in the earlier seasons, but he also had beautiful moments with each of the women in his life that showed a softer side to the character and the actor playing him.

In a lot of ways, Richard Gilmore was the glue that held all of the Gilmore girls together. He took care of them when they needed it, but also gave them the space they needed to figure things out on their own. He found the perfect balance as a husband, father, and grandfather, and Emily, Lorelei, and Rory are better for it.

Not every show can have an ending like Cheers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Breaking Bad.

Forget about the now-infamous final four words of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” Lauren Graham couldn’t even make herself read the final script for Netflix’s four-part revival series.

“For the longest time, I couldn’t read ‘Fall,’ which is our last episode,” the actress told a small group of reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in late July. “I was like, ‘This is psychotic. I have to read where this ends up.’ But I think I was both worried it wouldn’t be satisfying and also kind of just wanted to save it. Eventually I read it, and it was very satisfying.”

When the residents of Stars Hollow reconvened for Netflix’s highly-anticipated revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life, one key member of the Gilmore family was missing: Edward Herrmann.

The actor, who played the distinguished family patriarch Richard Gilmore for seven seasons on the original Gilmore Girls series, passed away in 2014 at age 71 after a battle with brain cancer.

In the revival, which debuts Nov. 26, the cast and crew made certain he was there in spirit. His character Richard has also died on the show — but his memory provides key story points as his family processes his loss.

Move over, “Pretty Little Liars.” The “Gilmore Girls” are back in town, literally.

For Netflix’s revival, the “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” production team had the daunting task of recreating all of the original Stars Hollow sets that were so essential to the series’ quirky but charming small-town feel and storylines. Part of the problem was that most of the structures originally used on Warner Bros.’s Burbank, Calif. backlot were repurposed for the sets on Freeform’s “Pretty Little Liars.”

“Goddammit, they changed our Stars Hollow,” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said to reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour in July. “They got a deal on brown paint. I’ve never seen so much brown paint in my entire life. I’m like, ‘Who the fuck doesn’t want some color in your town?...

Although Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) had her fair share of boyfriends on “Gilmore Girls,” she wouldn’t let them get in the way of her ambitions. Ultimately, she chose more life experience over marriage at the end of the series.

But now with Netflix’s revival “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” nearly 10 years have passed and Rory is back in Stars Hollow… and so are all of her exes. Over the course of four installments tied to each of the four seasons — winter, spring, summer and fall — we’ll see if Rory still feels sparks with any of them.

If you welled up while watching the new “Gilmore Girls” trailer that dropped today, then you’re a fan. The new full-length trailer for “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” offered a litany of story beats and easter eggs. Here’s what we caught: The Gilmores’ death-defying diet ensues Seriously, why don’t Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) have diabetes yet. Off the bat we learn the wise-cracking mother-daughter duo still eat a whole lot of takeout. No human could ingest the volume of junk food they purport to eat and still look that good — and thin!

Yes, after all these years, the show is returning for a short stint on Netflix. 

Who would have thought it would wind up on Netflix of all places?

I mean, the show has aired on both The WB and The CW, so it was odd that it wound up on the streaming giant. 

The signature pop culture references are well and truly back and we just can't wait to see what fast dialog the Gilmore women have in store for us. 

It's not a full season we're getting, but it's the next best thing.

Luke and Lorelai-shippers can relax – the couple is definitely still together after all these years.

Scott Patterson, the Gilmore Girls star who plays everyone's favorite diner owner, told People on Wednesday that while he "can't share much" about the show's Netflix revival, he can confirm that set photos of him and actress Lauren Graham holding hands are exactly what they seem.

"I can tell you that we are together," he says of the fan-favorite couple while attending the Kiehl's National LifeRide for amfAR celebration in New York City. "We are together and we're sort of figuring out our next step.

While most of the main cast has been confirmed to return for Netflix's upcoming Gilmore Girls revival series, it remains unclear if Melissa McCarthy will reprise her role as Sookie. In response to being asked if she would participate, the actress, who became a big star after her time spend on The CW drama, simply replied 'No One Asked Me.' But that may not be entirely true.

This past Monday, Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told TVLine that Melissa McCarthy has an open invitation to return in one of the four new episodes being produced. But that message obviously hasn't reached the actress. She had this to say on her official Twitter.

"Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!"
