Unlike her character in Mean Girls 2 (2011), she was bullied in school. Bullies gave her the nickname "My Twigga", a take on her name Maiara, as she was teased for being small and skinny.

Maiara is proficient in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Her father is American, of German, Irish, English, and French-Canadian descent. Her mother is Brazilian.

Has studied under booking coach Amy Lyndon.

Maiara appeared in american record producer/DJ TOKIMONSTA music video for her track "Go with it" (2013),a collaboration with american singer/songwriter MNDR. Via twitter Walsh stated "Go with it was a really 'dope' song''. She also appeared in american DJ Dillon Francis collaboration with Kygo (Norweigan DJ) and singer James Henderson music video for their song "Coming over" (2016).

My parents always said that education come first, education's important because you'll always have something to fall back on. I totally agree with this especially in an industry that can throw you away whenever it's done with you.
