Was involved in the making, writing, producing, engineering and touring of Nine Inch Nails albums since With Teeth. On the album Ghosts I-IV, he co-wrote and co-produced the entire album with Trent Reznor. On 2016, Not the Actual Events was the first album to have him as an official member of Nine Inch Nails, the only one besides Trent Reznor. From then on it was Reznor and Ross making the music together for all Nine Inch Nails projects, just like their collaborative film soundtrack work.

Together with frequent collaborator Trent Reznor, won a Grammy for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's soundtrack album. The album is 39 tracks, some appeared and some didn't appear in the film at all.

Has collaborated with and produced albums for such artists as Nine Inch Nails, Saul Williams, Zack de la Rocha, Korn, Perry Farrell, Telepathe, and Coheed and Cambria.

Composed the full score to El libro de los secretos (2010) with his brother, Leopold Ross, and his wife, Claudia Sarne.

Was nominated for his second Golden Globe on December 15, 2011 alongside Trent Reznor for the original score to La chica del dragón tatuado (2011). The pair won their first Golden Globes for the original score to Red social (2010).
