Exclusive: Stoked Sports & Entertainment has struck an exclusive deal for the life rights of NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, with plans to develop A Giant Amongst Men, a multi-platform media project that will include a narrative feature, a limited series, and a documentary.

A Giant Amongst Men will delve into the meteoric rise, formidable legacy, and personal challenges of one of football’s most electrifying and controversial figures. Development is underway across all three formats, with announcements on talent attachments anticipated in the coming months.

Exec producers on the projects include Blake Leon (Titans) and actor-producer Curran Walters (American Gigolo) for Bel Productions, along with Jarnell Stokes, Aisha Corpas Wynn, Beth Fryman Poulin, Sean Mik’ael Butler, and Patrick Strøm for Stoked Sports & Entertainment.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history, Taylor played his entire professional career, spanning 13 seasons, as a linebacker for the New York Giants.

Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy have been cast in the second season of BBC and Tubi drama series Boarders.

The Traitors host Cumming and EastEnders actress Cassidy will join a cast including leads Josh Tedeku, Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Myles Kamwendo and Aruna Jalloh in the coming-of-age series about five talented black inner-city teens who gain scholarships to the prestigious St. Gilbert’s boarding school. While the perils of higher education are becoming a wider part of the conversation, namely its lack of guarantee and exorbitant cost (particularly in America), solid academic preparation for the future is still often a ticket to a more expansive life. In Tubi’s “Boarders,” created by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Daniel Lawrence Taylor, five Black teens from London’s inner city uproot their lives for the opportunity to attend St. Gilbert’s College, a prestigious boarding school in the U.K. Though the scholarship recipients are eager to begin paving a new path for themselves, the constant othering, feelings of isolation and fetishism begin coloring what should be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The Black students experience gutting racial and economic adversity, but the brilliance of “Boarders” is its ability to weave a rhythmic humor throughout the series.

Before I get into the specifics of “Boarders,” first a note about its curious origins.

The days are getting shorter and training camp has come to a close, which means NFL football is almost here. Before the regular season officially kicks off, there is plenty of time to revisit some of the elite football-focused movies and television shows that are out there. Whether you're a comedy buff or are looking for something more heartfelt or dramatic, there is a football movie or show that fits the bill.

Much of the best football content has come within the last 20 years as the American obsession with football has grown. That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of classics to look back upon, but from a sheer content volume standpoint football has dominated the American media landscape more recently, providing NFL fans will hours of entertainment.

Remember the Titans (2000)

One of the most beloved sports movies of all time, Remember the Titans is rewatchable for a number of reasons.

Hollywood loves feel-good, based-on-real-life sports dramas, and isn't shy about drastically altering the facts to mine these tales for maximum stand-up-and-cheer potential. The scrappy high-school basketball underdogs in "Hoosiers" were, despite the school's small enrollment, actually a top team in the state during that supposed Cinderella season (which is why the filmmakers opted to set the film in a fictional town). "Remember the Titans" is riddled with inaccuracies, one of the most egregious being that T.C. Williams High School's climactic game against George C. Marshall High occurred in the middle of the season. And while the title character of "Rudy" did fulfill his dream of suiting up for his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish, retired NFL quarterback Joe Montana, who was on the team at the time, says the dramatic uniform-dumping scene is a pure fabrication.

A cast of emerging talent has been set for BBC comedy-drama “Boarders,” from Daniel Lawrence Taylor, creator of the BAFTA nominated “Timewasters.”

The 6 x 45′ series produced by Studio Lambert (“The Nest”) in association with All3Media International, follows the lives of five talented underprivileged Black students from inner-city London who win scholarships to St. Gilbert’s, an elite boarding school. Stepping out of the urban metropolis, they experience the highs and lows of boarding school, learn about themselves, their identity and what life on the other side looks like.

“Boarders” will star Josh Tedeku (“Supacell”), Jodie Campbell (“Bulletproof”) and Myles Kamwendo (“The School for Good and Evil”) alongside Sekou Diaby and Aruna Jalloh, both making their screen debuts. Lawrence Taylor will play a mentor figure to the students.

Exclusive: Benjamin Zephaniah’s memoir Life and Rhymes is being developed into a TV series by Baby Cow and Timewasters creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor.

The project forms part of a funded development slate from Steve Coogan’s indie, unveiled by CEO Sarah Monteith to Deadline earlier this week, which also features shows about Margaret Thatcher and forensic scientist Patricia Wiltshire.

The Life and Rhymes of Benjamin Zephaniah tells the story of the celebrated poet, artist, activist and Peaky Blinders actor who was born into poverty and produced radical poetry that led him to perform in every continent of the world, meeting the likes of Nelson Mandela and The Wailers along the way.

U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned celebrity chef Jamie Oliver‘s Jamie Oliver Productions to make “Jamie’s One-Pan Wonders” (8×30’), where he cooks one-pan recipes from his new book “One: Simple One-Pan Wonders,” available in Sept. 2022. The series will air this year.

For 2023, “Jamie’s Seasons” (working title) is an extended series, about eating British seasonal fruit and vegetables and celebrating the best the country has to offer, split into four parts to take viewers through the year via the four seasons — “Spring” (4×30’), “Summer” (4×30’), “Autumn” (4×30’) and “Winter” (2×60’).

The series were commissioned for Channel 4 by Tim Hancock, commissioning editor, factual entertainment and will be made by Jamie Oliver Productions, with Samantha Beddoes as executive producer and Katie Millard as series producer.

BBC Three has greenlit a drama following five underprivileged Black students who win scholarships to an elite British boarding school from BAFTA-nominated Timewasters creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor and Three Girls producer Studio Lambert.

In Boarders, the students, who are all based in inner-city London, will find out what life is like in a Harry Potter-esque world as they learn about themselves, their identities and forge crushes, friendships and enemies. The BBC said the six-parter will “look at the experience of going to a top public school from a unique perspective.”

Boarders is Lawrence Taylor’s first BBC writing gig. He is best known for creating ITV2’s BAFTA-nominated Timewasters, a satirical show about time travel that he also stars in. Having also been home to the likes of Normal People and Gavin and Stacey, BBC Three could catapult him to stardom.

Lawrence Taylor pled guilty to DUI stemming from a crazy 2016 incident where he drunkenly smashed his Bentley into a police cruiser ... but luckily for Lt, he ain't goin' to jail. The 58-year-old NFL great was arrested back in Sept. in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl -- and cops say he fessed up to boozing right before he was arrested.  Taylor initially pled not guilty to DUI -- but has since changed his tune after striking a deal with prosecutors.

Former NFL star and Dancing with the Stars contestant Lawrence Taylor pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence last September in Florida, People confirms.

According to an arrest report obtained by People, Taylor, 58, hit a stopped police car while driving on the Florida Turnpike in Palm Beach County.

Five hours after the crash, his blood alcohol levels were .082 and .084, according tot he arrest report.

Taylor had been smoking cigars and smelled of alcohol, and had bloodshot, watery eyes and was unsteady on his feet. When asked by an officer if he’d been drinking, Taylor replied, “Apparently too much.

The 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony is this Saturday, and another group of inductees, headlined by the Ultimate Warrior, will join the ranks of wrestling’s greatest men and women. But there are still numerous deserving wrestlers who have not yet been inducted.

Here is a list of 15 of those wrestlers, tag teams, or factions that deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Keep in mind that this list has been compiled according to WWE’s criteria for what constitutes a deserving addition to an “elite” group that includes Koko B. Ware but not Frank Gotch. There are going to be a lot of names not included that many will feel are more deserving of inclusion, and they should check out the list of the Professional Wrestling Hall of Famers or the Wrestling Observer Hall of Famers.
