"El olvido que seremos" is a film with a particular feeling, highlighting the life of a man who fought for causes that are still of interest to the Colombian nation today. The way in which he approaches character development is appropriate and fits the Medellin's Society of the 70s and 80s, with an invaluable accuracy in the sets and costumes. The emotional relationship between shots and color to differentiate two different periods contribute to the greatness of the film, accompanied by good performances.

However, the film continues to depend on the original novel, and certain scenes do not have the same power that they surely have in the book and some errors in the editing that can be, rarely, stressful to the viewer, do not interfere with the fact that this film has a soul. , and very appropriate for our times.

It is a shocking film that portrays the reality that is lived in Colombia; the plot is decent and the acting is good; it is recommended.

I struggled with this question while I was watching the movie, you feel different emotions while reading the book and other completely different watching the movie. Sometimes what happens in the book is not entirely portraited in the movie. Rating the movie leaving behind the novel, is a story very important to know for me as a colombian, and for a foreigner is momentous.

The story line was clear and the director played with the B&W and colored cinematography to execute the transition between the different stages of Hector Jr life. Taking into account the decades, the scenery and costumes where nicely built with some points to improve. Some of the most emotional scenes were strongly performed and filmed, you could feel and get to that moment of catarsis.

Stories like these need to be well known and I think cinema is a really great way to do it.

This film represents a reality in Latin American countries, where small elite groups manage politics and make decisions that affect many for their own benefits and economic interests, countries where a football game is promoted more than the importance of a good education, countries where few have all and most of the population nothing. Latin America has suffered since its conquest (NO DISCOVERY) in the 16th century and still continues to suffer new wounds while trying to heal the old ones. I have seen it and continue to see it in Honduras. Thank you for making this type of film, as well as "La Llorona" by Jayro Bustamante, cuz they allow these stories not to be lost as the intellectual authors of these crimes would like, they also help us to cure Latin America but do not forget. The technical aspect that I appreciated the most about the film was the black and white photography, really beautiful.

After experiencing EL OLVIDO, twice in recent days... Without flinching a microsecond, I have found my MISSION in life: Getting every human on Earth to do the same!

"You are Sooooooooo INTENSE!" BOTH My only daughter AND my Colombian wife often tell me! Of course, they are right! When you feel PASSION about something...ANYTHING... You know You are STILL ALIVE! EL OLVIDO is the most intensely Colombian film I have EVER seen! Yet, simultaneously, one of the most universal and HUMAN! And You certainly don't have to have lived in Colombia for 1/2 of the 70's & 80's, as I did, to appreciate just how SPECIAL EL OLVIDO really is!

University Profesor Hector Abad Gomez (Fleshed out stunningly by Spaniard Javier Camara...with an absolutely impeccable regional Colombian accent, I must add!) refuses to be labeled. Nevertheless, almost everyone on the right defines him as "Comunista!" or "Marxista!" Conversely, hardcore Leftists slur him as "Oligarca!" But Profesor Abad ostensibly is not really phased by being the object of intense hatred from both ends of the political spectrum. He forges ahead, living life one day at a time, speaking truth to power, completely intransigent in the face of ever mounting pressure to keep his outspoken opinions to himself!

It's a good movie in general. But I think the movie gets short on terms of generating the feelings that the book transmits.

Cuando has leído el libro y conoces la historia, la película te conmueve aún más. Lloré de principio a fin con todo lo que Héctor Abad Gómez representaba para su familia y para la gente, y lloré recordando las injusticias de la vida y de la muerte.

When you have read the book and you know the story, the film touches you the double. I cried from the beginning to the end with everything Hector Abad represented for all his family and for the people.

Very mediocre film that lacks script. Mediocre directing and editing. The only remarkable thing is Javier Camara's and Patricia Tamayo's acting.

This movie presents a past yet intimate take on an ever disappointing landscape of politics and violence within Colombia.

The story surprised me with the variety of topics that I've never thought they have any relationship between, even some historical facts that were presented had an "oh that's why..." moment, mixed with some very intimate takes on the Abad-Faciolince family.

A few scenes didn't resonate that much because of the acting, especially in the first half of the movie, but overall, the sensation left behind was joy and hopefulness.

The story of Hector Abad Gomez is moving and a perfect example of what has meant to be a thoughtful and honest leader in a country like Colombia, but the movie is not the most interesting portray of that struggle, and tries to be faithful to the book forgetting that cinema is already a new language and therefore a new opportunity to tell a story.

The story of a great man, killed in a horrible context, in a horrible period. The original plot was written by his not much talented son, Héctor Abad Faciolince, however the book was remarkable as a victims memory. The movie it´s a mediocre product. The script is a kind of tribute to Abad Faciolince (the son), despite the main character should be the father. An ego thing I suppouse. A lot of unnecesary scenes, terrible opening, average acting, and a lot of clichés.

La historia de un gran hombre, asesinado en un contexto horrible, en un período horrible. La trama original fue escrita por su poco talentoso hijo, Héctor Abad Faciolince, sin embargo, el libro fue notable como recuerdo de las víctimas. La película es un producto mediocre. El guion es una especie de homenaje a Abad Faciolince (el hijo), a pesar de que el personaje principal debería ser el padre. Una cosa del ego, supongo. Muchas escenas innecesarias, apertura terrible, actuación promedio y muchos clichés.

Una película que podía durar una hora y 10min como máximo con escenas no compatibles con el momento. Llega a ser aburrida y lenta.

Surprisingly sterile. The good guy fights his battles day-by-day like a saint but holds no regard for religion. He has his drawbacks such as working too much, distancing after the death of his daughter, and generally disregarding the realities of his life and that of his family. The climax is certainly meant to be the last twenty minutes which is so telegraphed as to be pedantic. Further, any man who fights a political battle in an unsafe political area draws his own death. Why not move to one of the other countries he visited in his life? Death is the theme of this movie from the beginning as zeal and ideals make way for the hubris of the good guy gone critically missing from anything meaningful, that lasts.
