Entre fantasmas (2005)
All 5 seasons of Ghost Whisperer ranked from worst to best
Entre fantasmas (2005)
"Can you see us?" was a question that Ghost Whisperer posed a lot. As trapped, frightened, or confused (and sometimes angry) ghosts popped up in Melinda Gordon's place of work, the streets she walked down, or even her own home, audiences were invested in the emotional storytelling that went on in the beloved supernatural TV drama of the 2000s.

The Jennifer Love Hewitt-led drama premiered on CBS in 2005 and it quickly became a staple of the weekly schedule, with it somehow managing to hit new highs in its fourth season. Although it ended prematurely with its fifth and final season, the show has remained a fan-favorite over the years, with fans still championing a revival.

Melinda experienced a lot of unique and original adventures during her time on our screens, thrilling audiences (and quite possibly confusing the Grandview residents) along the way. But which of those five seasons...

Image
Ahead of their CinemaCon presentation on Monday, Sony Pictures has debuted the first official poster for their upcoming slasher sequel I Know What You Did Last Summer and it teases the return of a familiar hook.

The duo starred together in the 1997 horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer and its 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

WIth a poster dropping today, we wouldn't be shocked to see the first teaser trailer drop during the studio's presentation on Monday night. It should among a handful of upcoming Sony projects highlighted during the event.

All My Children Alum Abigail Spencer Gushes About Good Friend Jennifer Love Hewitt
Image
In the latest episode of 9-1-1, Abigail Spencer perfectly portrayed a psychotic killer who wanted to kill Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character. Behind the scenes, these ladies are the best of friends. The All My Children alum admitted that she was intimidated about joining the cast, even if it was for a short time.

The One Thing That Made Her Nervous

Spencer gave fans a spooky glimpse into Detective Amber Braeburn’s true identity. She was revealed to be a serial killer who was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Amber wasn’t happy when Maddie (Hewitt) meddled with her decades-long case involving a serial killer who died by suicide. She entered Maddie’s home, abducted her, and kept her locked away.

Meanwhile, Maddie’s husband, Chim (Kenneth Choi), desperately searched for her. He assumed his wife left him again. Thankfully, Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) was on the case. Fans...

9-1-1 Baddie Abigail Spencer Talks Facing Off Against Jennifer Love Hewitt: ‘I’m Glad It Went There’ (Plus, Have We Seen the Last of Amber?)
Image
When Abigail Spencer showed up to film an episode of CBS’ Ghost Whisperer in 2007, series star Jennifer Love Hewitt already knew exactly who she was.

It’s a moment Spencer tells TVLine she’ll never forget: “I walk on set and she’s like, ‘You’re the girl!’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fired.’ She marches right up to me in her spunky way and goes, ‘You’re the girl everyone tells me I look like.’ I was dying. I was like, ‘No, Jennifer Love Hewitt. Nobody tells you that you look like Abigail Spencer because nobody knows who I am.

Image
When ABC started running promos for 9-1-1‘s two-part midseason premiere, revealing that Maddie was going to be kidnapped, we were surprised the network would give away such a big twist up front. You’d think we’d know by now that a far more shocking development was waiting in the wings.

Thursday’s episode introduced Abigail Spencer as Detective Amber Braeburn, who worked with Maddie and Athena to catch a serial kidnapper linked to the disappearances of several young girls over the course of a decade.

‘9-1-1’ Star Jennifer Love Hewitt Calls Serial Killer Abduction the ‘Worst Thing That’s Ever Happened to Maddie’
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 9.

Maddie, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character on “9-1-1,” has been through some very trying times, including when her abusive former husband Doug (played by real-life hubby Brian Hallisay) almost killed her. But being abducted by a serial killer makes all that trauma seem like a “lunch date,” says the actress.

Hewitt spoke to TheWrap before the first of the two-part episode aired on Thursday night, and explained how much fun it is for her to play Maddie when she’s in distress.

“It’s awesome. Most people don’t get handed things like this at their normal TV job, and [showrunner] Tim [Minear] always gives us the best stuff. I’m just so deeply grateful,” she told TheWrap. “These episodes are the most Maddie,” she added, “because this is what she was put on the planet to do, unfortunately, to survive over and...

Steven Spielberg Created A Forgotten Comedy Series Featuring Brie Larson
Image
We are well past the point of Peak TV — the era named by FX President John Landgraf about just how many television shows and channels seem to exist now — where we used to only have a handful of network options and a smattering of cable choices. Now, we have hundreds upon hundreds of shows each year, yet so few shows break through the noise unless you happen to notice that one of them has been canceled despite never having had the name recognition of something like "The Big Bang Theory" or "Game of Thrones." What's more, some shows can have a noticeable impact at the moment, but they don't seem to resonate once they're off the air. Those two aforementioned titles are among the most familiar to the American masses despite not having aired new episodes for years. It helps that they've each had spin-offs, and live on via reruns in some cases,...

One year later, remembering Star Trek: Discovery actor Kenneth Mitchell
Image
February 24 marked the first anniversary of Star Trek: Discovery actor Kenneth Mitchell’s death following five years of living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Als), commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Mitchell, post-diagnosis, made the most of every moment as a husband, father, friend, and actor, and it’s well worth taking a look back at what he accomplished during his 49 years on Earth.

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Mitchell initially gained traction as a model before shifting to acting. He amassed nearly 50 film and television credits before his death. Among those credits were the movies Miracle and Captain Marvel, recurring or series regular roles on Odyssey 5, Jericho, Ghost Whisperer, Switched at Birth, The Astronaut Wives Club, Frequency, Nancy Drew, and The Old Man, as well as numerous guest shots. He was, of course, best known for portraying the Klingon characters Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik, as well as Aurellio,...

Jennifer Love Hewitt Recalls the Media Sexualizing Her When She Was a Teenager
Image
Some of Jennifer Love Hewitt's most defining roles are the popular slasher 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer, the supernatural drama Ghost Whisperer, and the procedural 9-1-1. However, the actress has been in the spotlight since she was very young.

The actress rose to fame after landing the role of Sarah Reeves Merrin on the popular show Party of Five, where she made her debut in 1996, when she was 17. She was just 18 when she gained worldwide recognition thanks to the role of Julie James in I Know What You Did Last Summer. In a new appearance on The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik Breakdownpodcast (via US Weekly), the actress recalled that she used to be very sexualized in the media when she was barely 16.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Recalls Inappropriate Breast Comments from 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Fame
Image
Jennifer Love Hewitt discussed the wildly inappropriate comments some men would say to her after she appeared as a teenager in the classic horror film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. A loose adaptation of the late author Lois Duncan’s 1973 young adult novel of the same name, Hewitt portrayed Julie James in the 1997 film and its follow-up, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998). The actress spoke about dealing with those troubling sexual comments while appearing on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast. Hewitt said:

"In my 30s, I sort of went back and looked at that time again, and I was like, 'Oh my god!' There were grown men talking to me at 16 about my breasts openly on a talk show — and people were laughing about it [...] Like, I really didn’t take that part of it in, but in hindsight, it was very strange to...

Film and Television Locations Destroyed In The Eaton Fire – Photos
Image
Just miles from Hollywood, nestled in the San Gabriel Valley, lies the town of Altadena, which was decimated by the Eaton Fire. Among the thousands of structures burnt down were a number of historic buildings used in movies and TV series.

As the area reopened two weeks after the disaster hit, Deadline was able to survey some of the destruction. Below is a photo record of what is left of the famous buildings, along with pictures of what they looked like before the fire, including images of how they will be remembered from scenes in films and TV shows.

The houses lost include the mansion seen on Max’s award-winning comedy series Hacks, a 1915 Spanish Colonial Revival, with only its facade still standing.

Also destroyed are the Altadena Town & Country Club, seen in Mad Men, Starsky & Hutch, Van Wilder and The Wonder Years; the Eliot Arts Magnet Academy School...

Actor Brian J. White became an ordinary person in extraordinary circumstances Thursday when he, along with several of his neighbors, apprehended an arson suspect with a blowtorch in Woodland Hills, making a citizen arrest until the police got there. He shared the harrowing experience with Deadline, spoke how the police work and fight training for roles helped him in the ordeal and what the reaction has been from his colleagues, including the cast of Criminal Minds: Evolution where he is recurring, to seeing him in a viral cell video of the incident shot by White’s wife, Paula Da Silva, and their next-door neighbor.

Like others in the path of the Kenneth Fire, which broke out in the neighboring West Hills Thursday afternoon, the Whites got the emergency alert to get ready to potentially evacuate. By then, they had started to see the blaze from their house, “so we were...

"He’s A Buddhist With An Ulcer": Brian Cox Recalls Working With Steven Seagal In 1996 Action Comedy With 11% Rt Score
Image
Brian Cox recalls working with Steven Seagal on a 1996 action comedy with an 11% Rotten Tomatoes score. The Scottish actor is best known to modern audiences as Logan Roy from HBO's Succession, receiving three Emmy nominations for his portrayal of the aging and brash patriarch and media mogul. However, as a classically trained Shakespearean actor, Cox has also appeared in many movies from the 1980s to the 2010s as a character actor, including Manhunter, Braveheart, The Boxer, The Rookie, Troy, Adaptation, X2, and Churchill.

Over his career, Cox has been outspoken about his co-stars and fellow actors, famously and frequently voicing his disapproval of his co-star Jeremy Strong's method acting on the set of Succession. He also recently discussed his co-star Daniel Day-Lewis' method acting on the 1997 film The Boxer, calling his approach "a little off-putting." 11 Guest Actors You Forgot Were On Boy Meets World
Image
The '90s was a complicated time to be a TV teen. While the kids of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Melrose Place" were entrenched in constant scandalous teen drama, a gentler, more family-friendly version of teen life was drawing in audiences on ABC. "Boy Meets World" ran for an impressive 158 episodes, from 1993 to 2000, and remains a pop cultural touchstone — albeit not quite as potent of one as its cattier primetime counterparts — to this day.

Like every memorable sitcom, "Boy Meets World" knew how to pick a guest star, and several of the actors who showed up across its seven-season run went on to be pretty dang famous. In a few cases, people who were already big-name actors at the time also dropped in on the kids of John Adams High. If you watched the show at a young age, though, you'd be forgiven for not recognizing the industry veterans and...

Image
The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease Camryn Grimes, who plays Mariah Copeland, goes from playing a creepy storyline there to a creepier one in a new horror film. She has landed a part in an upcoming film titled The Deceived, which is currently slated for release later this year.

The Young And The Restless – Interesting Parallels

The description of the new film shares interesting parallels with the storyline on Y & R that Mariah is closely involved in, her mother Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) spiraling.

In that storyline, Sharon has gone off her bipolar meds and is being deceived by a hallucination of Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby).

“The Deceived” is an intriguing new film crafted by the imaginative Aash Aaron, who takes on both directing and writing duties, with production led by Tim Wall.

The story centers around Amy Wisez, (Kelly Sullivan) a young woman grappling with the...

ABC Signature’s Shutdown Ends 4-Decade Legacy: From ‘Golden Girls’ To ‘Lost’, ‘Black-Ish’ & ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Image
Disney’s long-expected move to fold ABC Signature into 20th Television brings to an end the media conglom’s in-house TV studio, which started off as Touchstone Television a decade before Disney bought ABC, subsequently being renamed ABC Studios and more recently ABC Signature.

Launched in 1985, Touchstone TV’s first major hit was Golden Girls, which ran on NBC for seven seasons. Other successful series from that era include Blossom, also for NBC, and Home Improvement, Ellen and Boy Meets World for ABC.

In the first years after ABC became part of Disney, Touchstone Television continued to sell to all networks — which is how 20th Television operated for its entire run at Fox — with shows such as Felicity and Popular for the WB and The PJs for Fox/WB.

The studio gradually shifted its attention to its own network, supplying it with series such as Once And Again, My Wife And Kids,...

Mary J. Blige on Why Monet and ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Are Personal Therapy

Mary J. Blige remembers the first time she got positive feedback for her acting. “When I was 7, I did a Christmas play in school, and the word from the other students and teachers was that me and this guy who was also in the play did very, very, very well,” she says. “It put something in me like, ‘Okay maybe I can really do this,’ and I always wanted to act [after] getting that feedback. At some point, I kind of left it alone and got into the music business.”

Choosing the music business early in her career has more than worked out for Blige. To date, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, won nine Grammys and is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in October. And she’s not stopping. Why Sarah Utterback's Olivia Harper Left Grey's Anatomy
Image
Quick Links The Olivia Harper/George O'Malley/Alex Karev Love Triangle Hospital Mergers and Olivia's Grey's Anatomy Departure Olivia's Brief Return in Grey's Anatomy Season 14 How Grey's Anatomy Fans Felt About Olivia

Olivia Harper (later Olivia Jankovic) was fairly notable in early seasons of ABC's long-running hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Played by Sarah Utterback, Olivia made her debut in the show's first season and quickly became a recognizable face at the then-Seattle Grace Hospital.

Though not a central character, Olivia one of the nurses at the hospital was often involved in meaningful storylines with key Grey's Anatomy figures, providing a sense of continuity and stability amid the dramatic events constantly unfolding in the series. However, she's perhaps best remembered for her entanglements with two of the show's original Magic-era surgical interns, George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers).

American Gothic (1995 – 1996) – Horror TV Shows We Miss
Image
Small towns hide secrets. They’re typically really good at it too because the smaller the town it seems the darker the secret they are trying to hide. If you grew up in a tiny Midwest town like I did you would know this to be gospel. Southern noir or Southern Gothic is a special sort of genre that when done right shines a sinister light on those secrets. Add some good old good vs evil to the mix and the supernatural and you’ve got something special. In the case of todays series you had the best of all of these mixed into a twisted, beautiful, epic masterpiece that came happened to be co-launched by a master of horror named Sam Raimi and a gent more known for solving mysteries than writing them… a Hardy Boy himself Shaun Cassidy. The show is one of my favorite TV series of all time,...

‘Beacon 23’ Renewed For Season 2 By MGM+
Beacon 23 (2023)
MGM+ has renewed sci-fi mystery thriller series Beacon 23 for a second season. The eight-episode season 2 will premiere on the streaming service in April. The news is not a surprise. The series already had been renewed by Spectrum and AMC, where it originally had been greenlit, and MGM+ is now formally committing to air it.

Starring Stephan James and Lena Headey in Season 1, Beacon 23, based on the best-selling book by Hugh Howey, is created and executive produced by Zak Penn.

Set in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way, Season 1 followed Aster (Headey), a government agent, and Halan (James), a stoic ex-military man, whose fates became entangled after they found themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that served as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. In Season Two, Beacon 23 is now little more than a prison with Aleph onboard, and The Artifact provides more questions than answers.

Jennifer Love Hewitt would 100% return for I Know What You Did Last Summer and Ghost Whisperer
Image
We can all picture Jennifer Love Hewitt in her big screen breakout role, screaming, “What are you waiting for?!” And that’s not too far off from what she thinks about reprising some of her most memorable characters: Julie James in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Melinda Gordon in Ghost Whisperer.

Appearing on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum (via Screen Rant), Jennifer Love Hewitt showed an interest in returning to her most beloved characters if the opportunities ever came up. On Julie James — the protagonist of the first two I Know What You Did Last Summer movies who helped Jlh give Neve Campbell a run for her money in the late ‘90s as the reigning scream queen — she said she would “one hundred percent” be on board. “Yeah. I loved making those movies.” Now here’s hoping she and Freddie Prinze Jr. can return for a fourth installment.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Would 'One Hundred Percent' Return for I Know What You Did Last Summer 4
Image
Jennifer Love Hewitt expressed keen interest in reprising her role in a potential I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel. Hewitt is aware of her age but won't let it deter her from returning to the horror franchise. There is hope for a revival of the franchise with Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. interested in returning, similar to the recent revival of the Scream series.

In 1997, I Know What You Did Last Summer became a slasher sensation, earning $125 million dollars at the box office against a budget of just $17 million. Its success paved the way for a theatrical sequel in 1998, and a direct-to-video installment in 2006 that featured all new cast members, and has gone largely forgotten about. 25 years since she appeared in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Jennifer Love Hewitt has expressed keen interest in reprising her role of Julie James in a potential legacy...

Tru Calling Cast: Where Are They Now?
Tru calling (2003)
Tru Calling arrived on the small screen at a pivotal time for fans of genre fare in 2003.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer had just ended, so there was a desire from networks to get its most recognizable cast on new projects.

Eliza Dushku could have continued playing Buffy's onetime adversary in a planned spinoff, but instead of choosing the predictable, the actress opted to take a hard left turn to steer her career in a different direction.

The series starred Dushku as Tru Davies, a young woman who takes a job at a morgue when her internship falls through.

Yes, there's far more to the plot than that, with the unique spin that found the deceased waking up from the dead and asking her to help them.

That allowed Tru to relive the day to find out what happened to them and to try to change the events.

It was a compelling hook,...
