It was believed that Valve’s Deadlock would prove to be the main competitor to Overwatch 2. However, NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals proved to be the real deal, as right after its release, it achieved acclaim from critics and fans alike. Many Overwatch 2 players jumped ship to Marvel Rivals and believed that it was the end of the line for Blizzard.
However, Blizzard’s newfound approach to Overwatch 2 looks to be paying off. That’s right, the hero shooter’s Season 16 has once again sparked a major revival and brought it back to the game’s golden era, right before Marvel Rivals jumped into the conversation.
Will Blizzard be able to sustain this popularity? Well, no one knows, but it’s great to see the hero-shooter is back from the dead.
