Early this season, "Vampire Diaries" producer Julie Plec told us that she'd only employ flashbacks if they helped to propel the modern day plot forward -- so when we heard about the season finale flashbacks, we couldn't help but wonder if some new information would be revealed about the car crash that killed Elena's parents.

Don't worry, fans. Plec promises that we're not about to find out that Damon was somehow involved in the accident, or any other unpleasant twist. "The flashback in the finale is a nice, small little runner that goes through the entire episode as Elena is looking back on a part of her life when things were just more simple, at least from a supernatural level," she says.
