Captain America: Brave New World earned only $415 million at the worldwide box office, a disappointing result made worse by the fact that reshoots reportedly sent its budget skyrocketing to a whopping $300 million.

Thunderbolts*, which received far more positive reviews, has similarly underperformed. At best, it will likely finish its run with $380 million.

Despite the trades reporting that Hayley Atwell will be back as Peggy Carter for Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning star denied her involvement in the next major Marvel Studios event movie while speaking to Collider.

During Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, it was confirmed that Sir Ian McKellen will reprise his role as Magneto in the long-awaited Multiverse Saga finale.

The actor first played the Master of Magnetism in 2000, and continued to do so until 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. When the latter was released, he shared the role with Michael Fassbender, but it's hardly surprising that Kevin Feige is bringing back the Og Magneto.

While the villain has been front and centre in just about every X-Men movie, whether those did him justice is another matter altogether. X-Men: The Last Stand succeeded in showing what Magneto could do when he let loose with his powers, and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants...well, the group often left fans wanting more.

It seems we'll soon have two Black Panthers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the same.

Back in January, The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider reported that "Marvel is looking to recast its Black Panther hero T'Challa ahead of the two Avengers movies and Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3."

It was generally assumed this would either be a Multiversal variant of the character played by the late Chadwick Boseman, or an older version of his son. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever concluded with Shuri (Letitia Wright) meeting her nephew - also named T'Challa - the child Boseman's hero had with Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o).

Since the original rumor, we have heard conflicting reports about Marvel's plans for Wakanda's protector, with other sources claiming that Shuri will retain the mantle going forward. We now know that Wright is set to reprise the role for Avengers: Doomsday, but she might just be joined by a second Panther.

By the time Avengers: Doomsday premieres in theaters in late 2026, Chris Hemsworth will have played Thor for a decade and a half. The actor made his debut as the God of Thunder in 2011 and has since headlined four standalone films and been a part of several team-ups.

Although his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was unclear after the end of 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth isn't done with Thor yet. The character will be one of the many superheroes to star in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which marks the fifth Avengers film. To hype up his return, Hemsworth didn't forget to show his appreciation to his fans with a behind-the-scenes video shared on YouTube, and a sweet message of gratitude that makes fans wonder if his time as Thor is ending.

We recently got confirmation that Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor for Avengers: Doomsday, and the actor has now shared a video titled "Thank You! The Legacy of Thor" video, prompting speculation that he might be preparing to hang up the hammer for good.

Avengers: Doomsday has recently been shooting in Bahrain, and will soon move to Windsor Great Park in England. A 1960s-era bungalow is expected to be built there, as is a spaceship that's generated a lot of speculation online.

While the house has been given various codenames (including "Iron Fist House" and "Luke Cage House"), it may have something to do with The Sentry's darker half, The Void. Or The Void—as in the wasteland at the End of Time—itself. Honestly, it's hard to say.

Back to the spaceship, and insider Daniel Richtman claims to have learned who it belongs to: Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson hasn't been officially announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, but is expected to be a member of Captain America's Avengers team. We got well-acquainted with her ship, The Hoopty, in The Marvels, and Carol is likely still searching for Monica Rambeau.

Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World is now streaming on Disney+, giving those who decided to skip the movie in theaters - or who might want to give it another shot - the chance to watch Sam Wilson's first big-screen outing as the Sentinel of Liberty from the comfort of their couch.

We recently learned that Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday is (or soon will be) filming in the Middle East, with several cast members photographed having dinner in a restaurant in Bahrain.

The actors are not actually on set, unfortunately, and were snapped attending various events and enjoying some downtime before cameras start rolling.

HBO has just revealed its Emmy submission categories for The Last of Us, fresh off of its second season finale. The big news: Pedro Pascal will once again compete for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Now, anyone familiar with the most recent season's second episode knows how destructive a golf club can be and that Pascal could have run for Supporting Actor. The decision seems to be weighing his presence in the back half of the season, including a powerhouse performance in the penultimate episode, "The Price."

Also confirmed was the obvious placement of Bella Ramsey in Lead Actress, truer than ever this season.

Isabela Merced (who plays Dina), Young Mazino (Jesse), and Gabriel Luna (Tommy) will compete in their respective supporting categories.

Season 2 of The Last of Us came to a close over the weekend with a bloody, divisive finale that sees Ellie's (Bella Ramsey) fate hang in the balance after her quest for vengeance spins out of control. HBO shared a press release this weekend, touting a massive 37 million global viewers per episode of The Last of Us season 2.

However, on Sunday night, the divisive finale drew 3.7 million cross-platform viewers in the U.S. As The Wrap (via GameFragger.com) was first to note, The Last of Us' season 2 finale suffered a 55% drop from the 8.2 million cross-platform viewers who tuned into the previous finale.

Addressing that, the press release is quick to point out, "The audience will grow significantly due to low viewing levels over the Memorial Day holiday weekend." While that remains to be seen, this is still a significant drop in viewership from the season 1 finale.

While Memorial Day weekend admittedly didn't go in the show's favour, we'd be remiss not to point out that the season 1 finale had strong competition in 2023 when it went head-to-head with the Oscars.

Some more concept art from Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* has been shared online via Aleksi Briclot, who has unveiled one of his early designs for former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent turned mercenary for hire, Ava Starr, aka Ghost.

As you can see, this is a very different look for the character, with a darker costume more akin to the outfit Ghost donned during her first (and only other) appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Some felt that Ava was a little underutilized in Thunderbolts*, but John-Kamen's performance was singled out as a low-key highlight.

Season 2 of The Last of Us concluded Sunday night with an audience of 3.7 million cross-platform viewers in the U.S., per HBO.

This is significantly lower than the Season 2 premiere episode’s 5.3M viewers, but the network says it expects there to be significant growth after the Memorial Day holiday weekend. That potential for growth is evidenced by the fact that Season 2 is already amassing more average viewers over time than Season 1.

According to HBO, Season 2 is tallying nearly 37M global viewers per episode and growing. For context, the Season 1 premiere eventually went on to generate nearly 32M viewers in 90 days post-premiere, which is the largest audience for an HBO and Max debut season ever.

Season 2 of HBO's The Last of Us concluded last night with an episode that has proven to be somewhat divisive, even among those who had been on board with this adaptation of the acclaimed Naughty Dog video game up to this point.

Can we assume that these particular characters will be grouped together for the good chunk of the movie? It wouldn't be surprising if Shuri, M'Baku and Namor shared multiple scenes, but it is interesting that only one Thunderbolts* cast member is here.

This week, Marvel Studios announced some disappointing (though not entirely unexpected) news: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars have both been hit with significant delays, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Though Doomsday is now filming in the UK, multiple sources have reported that production commenced without a completed script, and insiders believe these delays will "simply allow more time to execute on a gargantuan vision."

Cameras are currently rolling on Avengers: Doomsday in London, and we have some new details on what is believed to be the X-Men's introduction to Marvel Studios' next big event movie.

We've known that these first scenes being filmed will feature the X-Men for a while, and even though no cast members have been photographed, we have seen evidence of a destructive battle on the grounds of the X-Mansion, with Sentinel limbs strewn across the ground.

According to scooper Mttsh, this action sequence will be the first time we see the mutant heroes in Doomsday, and the battle - which is also rumored to feature members of The Avengers - will be "similar to that of X-Men '97, with them fighting the Sentinels. That way, we are introduced to the team and their powers."

Of course, fans of the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies will already be familiar...

Avengers: Doomsday is currently shooting in the UK, and the set we've been keeping you updated about for the past few weeks is finally complete.

As you can see, it appears to be the grounds of the X-Mansion in the wake of an epic superhero fight that's left Sentinel pieces strewn across the battlefield. Massive blue screens surround the practical set, as do shipping containers meant to keep the action away from prying eyes.

With Wolverine’s recent addition to Disney’s MCU, Hugh Jackman is navigating questions about the character’s onscreen future.

Following his return to the role (aka Logan) in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the Oscar nominee recently assured he “actually” has no news about whether he’ll slip on the Adamantium claws once again for Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel Studios' recent Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal included a few surprising names, but the actors who weren't mentioned raised just as many questions.

If you've been keeping up with rumors relating to the 2026 MCU event film, you may have been anticipating the casts of Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps as well as a couple of X-Men characters (we had heard that both Kelsey Grammer and Sir Patrick Stewart were set to return after their respective appearances in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels), but we were not expecting quite so many mutants.
