“The Wheel of Time” has run out its run at Prime Video. The Rosamund Pike-led adaptation of the fantasy novel series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson will not return for Season 4 at the streaming platform, TheWrap has learned.
The news comes after Prime Video announced the renewal of its other big-budget drama series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” for Season 3. Amid industry contraction, high-budget fantasy dramas seem prone for the chopping block across linear and streaming. “The Wheel of Time” is believed to have been too expensive to justify given its viewership performance.
“The Wheel Of Time” launched strong, becoming Prime Video’s most-watched series premiere of 2021 and one of the platform’s top debuts of all time. Season 3 saw its viewership slip, leaving Nielsen’s top 10 originals chart after three weeks, before making one last appearance after the launch of its finale.

Exclusive: Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations. As often is the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer’s executives.
The TV adaptation of the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios, is a high-end, pricey fantasy drama, which ushered in the genre on Prime Video, later joined by The Lord Of the Rings: The Rings Of Power.
Starring Rosamund Pike, The Wheel Of Time got off to a strong start in 2021 as Prime Video’s most watched series premiere of the year and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time.

This article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time books, up through book 5, The Fires of Heaven.
The third season of The Wheel of Time is at an end, which means it's now time to look ahead. Over the course of eight episodes, Prime Video's fantasy series based on the beloved books by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson blew us away with its ambitious story, spectacular magic, vast cast of memorable characters, and shocking twists and turns. It wasn't only a solid adaptation of Jordan's book The Shadow Rising, but an excellent season of television all around.
So what comes next? The Wheel of Time season 3 laid the groundwork for a number of major plotlines from the fifth and sixth books in the series, The Fires of Heaven and Lord of Chaos. Given that the climactic ending of Lord of Chaos serves as something of a mid-point for the overarching narrative of the books,...

This article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time book series through book 11, Knife of Dreams.
Last week, we reported on a curious development in the ongoing story of The Wheel of Time. During the show's third season, showrunner Rafe Judkins confirmed that the show has already introduced a secret member of the Forsaken, the ancient channelers sworn to the Shadow who serve as some of the primary antagonists for the series.
"We’ve definitely laid the pieces for a few Forsaken to appear in next season who are new and maybe not so new that you will be excited to see on screen," Judkins toldThe Hollywood Reporter.
Over on The Dusty Wheel, Judkins was asked point blank if there are any Forsaken who have been introduced in the show who will "remain unmasked' through season 3. "I mean you know that there are," Judkins replied. "Listen...I don't want to give too much away.

Universal Pictures owns the rights to a series of iconic horror characters from different classic novels, including Frankenstein's Monster, The Mummy, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Invisible Man, Count Dracula, and others. Many have been successfully adapted in the classic era, but Universal has struggled with its remakes.
The latest Universal Monsters project was Wolf Man, which premiered in early 2025. The horror film had a lot of potential, as the studio was still basking in the success of 2020's The Invisible Man, and had hired the same director, Leigh Whannell, for the project. Although Wolf Man didn't live up to expectations, both critically and commercially, it has become a hit on Peacock following its recent release on streaming, per FlixPatrol.

The third season of The Wheel of Time ended with a pair of back-to-back bangers: first came "Goldeneyes," which featured a huge battle scene in the Two Rivers. Then we got the finale, "He Who Comes With The Dawn," which brought several plotlines to thrilling climaxes.
These episodes also included some major swerves from The Wheel of Time books, especially when it came to killing off major characters. (Turn back now if you don't want Spoilers.) In "Goldeneyes," gentle giant Loial (Hammed Animashaun) apparently plunged to his death while trying to keep an army of Trollocs from using a Waygate to invade the Two Rivers. And in the finale, we got two unexpected deaths: the Forsaken sorceress Moghedien (Laia Costa) killed fellow Forsaken Sammael (Cameron Jack) in an act of villain-on-villain crime. And in the biggest surprise of all, Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo), the leader of the Aes Sedai, was...

Let’s just say it: The Wheel of Time’s third season was its best so far.
So, why in the world hasn’t Amazon done the smart thing and gotten the ball moving on the next season yet?
First, it has to be said that the show has only gotten more amazing and exciting as the series has progressed. Of course, that’s obvious since the show is still going.
(Courtesy of Prime Video)
Unfortunately, the streamer has not given The Wheel of Time the green light to proceed with Season 4. That is baffling, considering the show’s renewal track record.
Not to mention the immersive story that pulls you in right from the start, and The Wheel of Time Season 3 had one of the most epic openings to a season yet.

The Wheel of Time season 3 just came to an end with the release of episode 8, "He Who Comes With the Dawn." It was an incredible episode with lots of moving parts, epic sequences, and surprises, honestly, that I was not expecting to see.
I shared the major plot points of The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 8 and how it sets up The Wheel of Time season 4. Ultimately, I think there are four important points that casual fans like me need to remember as we leave The Wheel of Time season 3 behind.
Let's get things started with one of my favorite characters in the show, Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), who gets into an absolutely iconic battle with the real demon of the season, Lanfear (Natasha O'Keeffe).
Moiraine almost kills Lanfear

It's been a winding road, but we've arrived at the season finale for The Wheel of Time. Across its third season, Prime Video's epic fantasy show has captured our hearts and blown our minds with its drama, action, ambition, romance and scope. We began in the city of Tar Valon, where the Black Ajah made a bloody escape and our young heroes from Emond's Field went their separate ways. From there we went to the deserts of the Aiel Waste, the forests of the Two Rivers, and the hills of Tanchico. It's been quite a ride, and it's all led to this.
"He Who Comes With The Dawn" is a powerful finale, but it's also the episode I've been anticipating will most divide fans, especially those who have read Robert Jordan's books. Because while this is a rock solid hour of television, it makes bold choices.

Late tonight, Prime Video will drop the season 3 finale of The Wheel of Time, its stellar adaptation of Robert Jordan's high fantasy book series. TV Insider has a new clip from the finale. Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) is hanging out in the city of Tanchico with other sisters of the Black Ajah. One of them is fiddling with a rod that seems to spark at the end. Liandrin tells her to put that thing down, because it "actually creates balefire."
Balefire is an incredibly destructive magical weapon within the world of The Wheel of Time. Not only can it kill people, but it also removes them from the Pattern, making it like they never existed. It has yet to show up on The Wheel of Time TV show despite featuring heavily in the books, so this is a decently big deal. And I doubt that they'd bring up balefire if...

Unfortunately, that's not a great time for those on the East Coast who want to stay up late to watch the season finale. On the other hand, if you live on the West Coast, you only have to stay up until about 2 a.m. Pt to watch the season 3 finale.
Right now, we don't know the episode title. We don't have the synopsis for the new episode, but we do have something better: a look at the new episode.

You know how bad stuff seems to happen when certain things falling into the wrong hands? Well, prepare for bad. Like Black Ajah bad. In TV Insider’s exclusive clip from the third-season finale of Prime Video‘s superlative take on Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time novels (watch it above), the great hunt (see what I did there) for the second of two a’dam cuffs Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) needs to control Rand (Josh Strahowski) takes an alarming turn: The damn thing is literally hand-delivered to her! But what the blade-jawed blonde traitor to the Aes Sedai doesn’t realize is that the messenger bearing this all-powerful accessory is a disguised Moghedien (Laia Costa), the demented Dark One who has been turning captives into Grey Men and covertly sabotaging Liandrin’s mission. For weeks since the globally acclaimed third season launched, Mo has been skulking around Tanchico behind the scenes,...

Last June, it was announced that Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin had signed on to write and direct a new genre project for Atomic Monster, Blumhouse Productions, and New Line Cinema… and in December, we found out what that mysterious project is, as it was revealed that Cronin has come up with a new take on the concept of The Mummy! Cronin confirmed, “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.” The film is set to reach theatres on April 17, 2026, and today Deadline has broken the news that May Calamawy (Moon Knight), Veronica Falcón (Queen of the South), and May Elghety (Clash) are in the cast.
Calamawy, Falcón, and Elghety join previously announced cast members Jack Reynor (Midsommar) and Laia Costa (Victoria).

Universal Pictures owns the rights to some of the most iconic villains, which the studio named the "Universal Monsters." However, it has yet to find its rhythm with the recent adaptations.
Universal was planning to launch the Dark Universe, which was set to debut with 2017's The Mummy, and create an McU-like joint universe that would feature characters like Wolf Man, Dracula, The Invisible Man, and more. However, following the release of The Mummy and its poor reception, Universal canceled the universe. Leigh Whannell later revived the plans following the success of his 2020's The Invisible Man, and returned to the universe with 2025's Wolf Man. Following a disappointing box office run, Wolf Man will be heading on streaming on Apr. 18 on Peacock.

This article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 6, "The Shadow in the Night."
The Wheel of Time is deep into its third season, and despite our heroes' best efforts to take a breather this week, the villains had other ideas. Nowhere was that clearer than in Tanchico, where Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins), Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney), Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn) and Min Farshaw (Kae Alexander) are on the hunt for the Black Ajah. Despite having some success in their search, like digging up a dangerous artifact known as the Domination Band and ferreting out the location of the Black Ajah's hideout, they soon fell afoul of an even more dangerous villain: Moghedien, the sadistic Forsaken sorceress played by Laia Costa.
Moghedien was first introduced at the end of the show's second season, and the anticipation has been high to see her in action. The book on which this season is largely based,...

In the world of ‘The Wheel of Time,’ a new threat has stepped out of the shadows in season 3, and it’s got everyone talking. The Gray Man, a chilling figure tied to the Forsaken Moghedien, made a creepy debut on the TV show. These assassins aren’t just random killers—they’re a key part of the story, pulled straight from Robert Jordan’s massive book series. Let’s break down who they are and why they matter, both on screen and in the novels.
The Gray Men popped up in the season 3 premiere of the Prime Video series, which kicked off on March 13, 2025. They’re not your typical bad guys. These are humans who’ve given up their souls to the Dark One, turning them into near-invisible killers.
In the show, one of them nearly takes out Nynaeve, played by Zoë Robins, in a tense moment that had us all on edge.

Plot: After defeating Ishamael, one of the most powerful of the Forsaken, at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends in the city of Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season Three, the threats against the Light are multiplying: the White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon… including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both. As the ties to his past begin to unravel, and his corrupted power grows stronger, Rand becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene. These powerful women, who started the series as teacher and student, must now work together to prevent the Dragon from turning to the Dark…no matter the cost.

The third season of The Wheel of Time is just around the corner, meaning we're about to catch up with the likes of magic messiah Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), his mentor Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), and his morally challenged love interest Lanfear (Natasha O'Keeffe), an ancient sorceress intent on turning Rand to the dark side.
Lanfear is a member of the Forsaken, powerful channelers who lived long before Rand's time. Lanfear was involved with Lews Therin, Rand in a past life, and is now attracted to the man reborn. The sci-fi and fantasy TV world always seems on a paradoxical precipice: Too many good shows get canceled, yet too many keep returning to television. Not that we’re complaining about the latter.
Several long-awaited shows from some of the biggest franchises around, including Marvel, Star Wars, Doctor Who, and The Walking Dead, will return in 2025. Given that most TV shows take a year or longer at least to release the next season, it can be hard to keep track of where we left off in the story. And without catching up with the previous seasons, one could unintentionally commit what is considered in the sci-fi or fantasy community the ultimate blunder: not understanding the references or Easter eggs.

One fast-consolidating industry lore, compounded by Toronto dealing – or lack of it – has it that non-English-language dramas don’t sell.
Try telling that, however, to Filmax. “The Teacher Who Promised the Sea,” chronicling the tragedy of barbaric slaughter in the Spanish Civil War, has not only sold but opened in Italy and Australia to boffo box office numbers for an art film.
In Italy, bought by Officine Ubu and released on Sept. 19, “The Teacher” has grossed €551,066, opened on 84 screens, a notable spread with no big name director nor huge stars.
In Australia, released by upscale move bastion Palace Films, “The Teacher” is still playing cinemas, powering to $436,744 from a July 26 bow on 22 screens.
The drama has just opened in Romania and Russia and will do so briefly in Austria and Alemania. These bows follow sales by Filmax – which produces with Minoría Absoluta, Lastor Media, Mestres Films Aie – to Nachshon Films in Israel,...
