In , Insomniac Games creative director Bryan Intihar and Spider-Man creative director Brian Horton discussed how the studio always had big plans for the Miles Morales character.
“We knew really early that [Spider-Man] was going to end with him getting the spider bite,” Intihar says regarding one of Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s climactic scenes. “We would tease it during development. I think everybody was focused on, ‘Can you make the first one really good and we’ll worry about the other stuff later?’ But we wanted to have that set up so if it became a reality [to do another game] we could pull it off.”
Interestingly, Intihar also notes that the original plan was to reveal Miles Morales at the end of the game as a post-credits surprise. However, Intihar notes that the team felt it was important to “see the roots of him being a hero...

Ever since Lara Croft first adorned the cover of Game Informer to trumpet Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider, fans knew immediately that the heroine’s next adventure would be a ways away from the sun-kissed beaches of Yamatai in the Pacific Ocean.
This time around, Miss Croft will make tracks for the icy locales of Siberia in a bid to discover an elixir of immortality and, ultimately, tangible proof that her defining experiences in the previous game weren’t a figment of her imagination. As the reveal trailer so brilliantly showed us, this is a protagonist plagued with Ptsd, and Rise will look to explore that character facet throughout the course of its campaign.
Speaking of which, as the new-fangled screenshots confirm, Rise of the Tomb Raider won’t take place exclusively in the northerly Russian province. According to the studio’s Brian Horton, the anticipated...

In what the publisher is announcing as the "first wave" of preorder bonuses, Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy will be receiving both digital and physical content for the March 5th release.
For the moment, it looks like the Gamestop preorder deal is the only one lacking any kind of physical bonuses like the comic and art book coming to the Best Buy and Amazon versions of the game respectively. But that could all change over the next couple of months as Square Enix promises to release additional details about what you can get if you decide to reserve Tomb Raider at one of the three retailers. Plus, there's a Collector's Edition on the horizon, whose details haven't yet seen the light of day.
In the meantime, here's what the retailers are offering for your early monies (from the press release):

Accusations of misogyny and perpetuation of rape culture hound Square Enix's reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, as developer Crystal Dynamics plays a possibly losing game of spin.
"We’re doing it because we believe it serves the story and serves the character. It’s her turning point. It’s a place where she has to make a decision to go from reaction to action, and she realises this is what her whole life has to be if she wants to get off that island." That's Tomb Raider's executive producer Ron Rosenberg speaking to Edge and providing the latest round of damage control at the end of at a week where the reboot of the action adventure franchise has become (whether fairly or not) the poster child for the, let's say problematic depiction of women in games during the industry's relatively short life.

Topless Robot has posted a video created by Karliene Reynolds and her collaborators at Cabinfever Production Studios inspired by the HBO series A Game of Thrones. Reynolds, with the assistance of Brian Horton, Lin Umstead, and Caleb Cox, created a new arrangement of the show's theme song "You Win or You Die," composed for the series by Ramin Djawadi, and added their own lyrics. Reynolds wrote the new lyrics and sang and performed piano on the arrangement. You can check out the video here below.
It's a very lovely arrangement of the theme and the lyrics are very fitting given the show's thematic elements. Strange, but I was expecting these lyrics to parody the show rather than honor it. Emotionally straightforward, sad, a bit hopeful at times, it's an excellent video and a great tribute to a series that's already shaping up to be another HBO classic [...]...
