- After Edwards died in 1971, nearly broke and alone, Walt Disney Productions, remembering his many contributions to their films over the years, paid for his funeral.
- First person to perform the song "Singin' in the Rain", in the film The Hollywood Revue of 1929 (1929).
- Also plays the voice of Dandy Crow (also known as Jim Crow) and sings "When I See an Elephant Fly" in Walt Disney's Dumbo (1941).
- Supplied the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Disney's animated classic Pinocho (1940), also singing "When You Wish upon a Star" (BS:AA) therein. He also reprised the role in Las aventuras de Bongo, Mickey y las judías mágicas (1947) and many other features for Disney. After Edwards' death in 1971 the role was taken over by Eddie Carroll.
