Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) has caught absolutely no breaks in Chicago Fire season 13. One could argue the character has had the roughest season of anyone not named Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), between his love life and his personal struggles. Still, there is hope for the fan favorite firefighter.
Carver is coming back in the anticipated episode "Post Mortem." An undoubtedly bleak title and story to return to, but we are eager to see how the firefighter acclimates nonetheless. He was keen to kick his drinking habit last we saw him, and 51 chatter during his absence confirmed that he had checked himself into a rehab facility. Carver's troubles are not behind him, however.

Lil Durk isn’t letting prison time stop him from giving his fans new music. On Monday, the rapper’s team shared a trailer and the artwork for his upcoming album, Deep Thoughts, scheduled for March 28.
The trailer captures his producers in the studio while on the phone with Durk from behind bars. The clip teases the track list and hears Durk say he likes “the energy” of the songs chosen, as he thanks his team for the “bigger and better changes” on the album. “The streets still need me,...

Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) is gone. The firefighter decided to step away from his duties at Firehouse 51 and focus on himself for an undisclosed amount of time. It was tough for him to decide, but it was even tougher on those around him.
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Carver's closest friend since he joined 51, and Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), the person who Carver still has romantic feelings toward, made it clear they were sad to see him go. But will he be gone for good? We argue that exit will be a small, albeit painful step in a plan to bring the character back.
Things seemed pretty bleak for Carver on "Bar Time." The character revealed that he was working double shifts at other firehouses, and keeping himself busy around the clock. Why? Well, he found that the only time he didn't drink was when he was working. Hence,...

Horror meets a family thriller in the Lionsgate movie Like Father Like Son, in which Eli reckons with the fact that his father is a serial killer on death row. Eli is determined to stop the history of violence however possible -- but of course that doesn't come easy. Cbr spoke to the movie's writer-director Barry Jay and star Dylan Flashner, who plays Eli, to discuss how Like Father Like Son came together. They discussed the elements of the film that stood out to them, and how they developed Eli's character before dropping him into his father Gabe's twisted world. Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) have been unsure what their next move is as a married couple. The Chicago Fire stars have had their fair share of setbacks and serious professional situations, but children is something they never seemed to be on the same page about.
Kidd voiced a desire to start a family, and Severide was out. Then Severide decided he wanted to have children, and Kidd was hesitant. Well, the stars aligned in the episode "Relief Cut." The couple were brought together after a visit from Kidd's cousin, and they decided to start a family. Not in the way we expected, though.

Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has been through the ringer the last few years. She's gotten married, sure, but she has also had her life threatened multiple times, and suffered a shrapnel injury after a big house explosion in season 11. The One Chicago crossover didn't make things any easier.
As the promo showed, Kidd was one of two One Chicago leads who were trapped underground following an explosion. She was forced to sit tight and aid the civilians who were trapped with her while Chicago Med, Pd and Fire worked together to rescue them. It looked like things were going to end poorly for Kidd when oxygen began to drop, but a funny thing happened in the lead up to the One Chicago crossover airing.

Chicago Fire is and always has been, the focal point of the One Chicago universe. Everything spawned from it, and whenever there's a crossover, the narrative is based around a case that Firehouse 51 first stumbled upon.
The 2025 crossover event is no different. Unfortunately, the firehouse will be missing a crucial member during the massive, three-part storyline. A character who has been part of the team since day one, and has been on hand for all previous crossovers. We're talking, of course, about Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso).

Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) messed up. The character really stepped in a world of trouble when he agreed to help a former gang member commit a robbery. He wound up shot, and was forced to sit by and act like it wasn't bothered while his friend, Kelly Severide (Taylor Severide) conducted an investigation.
It was never going to end well for Cruz, so he came clean. In the episode "Chaos Theory," the veteran firefighter approached Severide and admitted to the incident that led to him shot. He admitted he let a man named Flaco (Jose Antonio Garcia) die during a building fire in season 1, because the man had threatened his brother. This piece of blackmail was why he agreed to help with the robbery.

Chicago Fire is in full swing. There was some scheduling confusion last week, and a slight delay, but the show is off to the races with a thrilling new episode and a crossover set for the end of the month. There's a lot to address in "Chaos Theory," from Stella Kidd's absence to Joe Cruz's fate after what happened in the winter premiere.
Spoilers for "Chaos Theory" below Chicago Fire -- "Untouchable" Episode 13007 -- Pictured: (l-r) Taylor Kinney as Kelly Severide
Cruz has a lot to clean up in the episode's opening moments. He drives to his brother's house and gets stitched up after he got shot in the winter premiere. Cruz's gut reaction was to go to the police, but his brother insisted that he keep it under wraps, as he fears gang retaliation. Leon's ties to the Insane Kings was what got Cruz involved in this mess in the first place.

All roads lead to the One Chicago crossover. The franchise is staging its first three part storyline since 2019, which will bring together the casts of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago Pd for a major disaster. One character who is already on the brink of disaster, though, is Cruz (Joe Minoso).
Joe Cruz's last couple episodes have been, well, messy. The character was coerced into committing a robbery, stealing firehouse equipment and was even present for a shootout. He was shot amidst all the commotion, and will be forced to come up with an alibi.

Chicago Fire's winter premiere is almost upon us, and with it the resolution to a major cliffhanger. Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) spent the bulk of the season 13 fall finale struggling to determine if someone was threatening him on the job.
There was a bullet left in his Firehouse 51 locker, and a climactic reveal in which a man named Junior Polanco (Richard Cabral) confronted him in a local church. Junior is the cousin of Flaco (Jose Antonio Garcia), a gang leader who threatened to kill Cruz's brother before he perished in a house fire.

Chicago Fire has undergone lots of changes in the past year. We've seen characters come and go, we've seen established relationships get challenged, and we've seen those struggle to acclimate to these changes.
2024 has seen the second half of Chicago Fire season 12 and the first half of season 13, and as such, we thought it would be a good idea to cherry pick the moments we thought stood out most... for the right reasons that is.

Chicago Fire has a lot going on. There are characters on the cusp of promotion, characters who are still getting acclimated to Firehouse 51, and characters who are being mortally threatened by gang members. Chicago Fire still knows how to thrill viewers, but sometimes a subplot can stretch things too far and confound instead.
There's lots to like about season 13, but there have also been a few instances in which a storyline has taken an odd turn, or a character acts in a way that's utterly confusing. These are the moments we've chosen to focus on for this list.

Chicago Fire is always going to be the most iconic One Chicago series. It's the one that started it all, and it continues to be the anchor piece between Chicago Med and Chicago Pd in NBC's Wednesday night lineup. That doesn't mean the series is without its low points, though.
Despite boasting some of the most beloved episodes in One Chicago history, Chicago Fire pulled through 2024 with the franchise's lowest rated episode of the year. While Med and Pd regularly got over the 7 hump, and the latter even managed to crack a 9, Fire's worst rated episode came in at an underwhelming 7.5 on IMDb.

Stella Kidd has been taking a back seat on Chicago Fire. She's instrumental in the action scenes, and the rescue missions that Firehouse 51 has to carry out on a weekly basis, but it's been a while since there's been a focus on her personal life.

The One Chicago franchise has really planted its flag on Wednesday nights. The franchise has been filling the primetime evening block for over ten years, and does not show any signs of slowing down. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago Pd were missing in action during the last week of November, which has led many fans to question when they will be returning with new episodes.
Unfortunately, the answer is not anytime soon. There are no new episodes of Med, Fire or Pd on Wednesday, December 4. In fact, there won't be new episodes for over a month. The franchise is taking the duration of December off, and will be returning on Wednesday, January 8.

Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) is a solid guy. He's always trying to do his best to protect victims during fires, and his peers during dangerous rescue missions. He's one of the most beloved Chicago Fire veterans as a result. The thing is, Cruz is not a boy scout. He has some skeletons in his closet, and we were just reminded of one in the season 13 fall finale.

We were all a bit frustrated by the Chicago Fire fall finale. There was good stuff, to be clear, but a lot of the excitement going into the episode is whether Mouch (Christian Stolte) would be able to pass the captain test and set himself up for a major promotion.
The episode ended without giving fans a concrete answer, ensuring that we come back for the winter premiere in January. Here's the thing, though. Chicago Fire issued a promo for the winter premiere, and it may have spoiled what became of Mouch after he took the captain test.
Mouch is seemingly in a new Truck 81 role
It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but eagle-eyed viewers have theorized that Mouch is actually sitting in Truck 81 around the promo's five second mark. The veteran character appears to be sitting in the lieutenant seat of the truck, which is a spot and title typically occupied...

Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) has missed quite a bit of time over the last couple seasons of Chicago Fire. We detailed these absences in other articles, but we aren't here to discuss the potential reason why they have occurred.
Rather, we're here to discuss the impact they've had on Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Severide and Kidd have been on a romantic trajectory for the last several years, culminating with their marriage in season 10. The problem is, they've reached an impasse. Severide is intermittently absent, and Kidd, as a result, is stuck in place.

The Chicago Fire season 13 fall finale drew a mixed reception from fans. Some felt there was too much going on, others felt there were not enough answers being given. Regardless of where you come down, you were probably disappointed that Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) was missing.
The character said to be in Michigan during the fall finale, though Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) assured the firehouse crew (and the viewers) that he would be back soon. Sure enough, when the promo for the winter finale was unveiled, there was Severide, right in the thick of the action. So why was he not around for the fall finale?

With the way the previous episode went, is it really that surprising that Severide wasn’t around for the Chicago Fire season 13 fall finale? As much as we would love to see him in every episode, this show, like many others, don’t have all actors in all episodes to help with cost-cutting.
The fall finale saw Severide missing for the whole episode. This isn’t a big thing, though. It sounds like it’s only for one episode, and the show explained where he was in the world of One Chicago.
Severide is on a work trip in the Chicago Fire season 13 fall finale
It didn’t take long to explain Severide’s disappearance in the episode. Tony and Capp made a note that Cruz was going to be Acting Lieutenant for the shift again, and that meant Severide was away. The fact that he’s “Acting” Lieutenant is important.

Kelly Severide is the face of Chicago Fire. We can discuss which character has been in the most episodes, or which have been more consistent in terms of storylines, but Severide has been part of the show's core appeal since its pilot. He's a vital piece of its continued success, which is what made the season 13 fall finale such a bummer.
The episode quickly established that Severide would not be appearing. The veteran firefighter is in Michigan, meaning he will be absent from the rest of the drama that plays out during "Quicksand." It's not ideal, but one episode isn't so bad, right? Well, it gets worse. Chicago Fire is going on break after the airing of this episode.

The following contains major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 7, "Untouchable," which debuted Wednesday, November 13 on NBC.
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 7, "Untouchable" brings a very quick end to the story that started in Episode 6. It's a little surprising, since the way that corrupt state policeman Bishop was hyped up in that episode, it seemed like he'd be the NBC show's newest Big Bad. But that news is blown out of the water by what might or might not be a revelation about Chief Dom Pascal that either makes him more interesting or more evil, depending on how fans want to look at it.
"Untouchable" picks up with Pascal and Kelly Severide continuing to investigate the storage facility fire that they now believe Bishop started to cover up his corruption. Things escalate when Bishop threatens both of their families, leading to a massive twist in Pascal's tale that audiences will debate for a good,...

In 2011, French thesps Omar Sy and Anne Le Ny co-starred in the comedy hit “Untouchable.” Now, the two are reunited in the domestic thriller “Out of Control,” with “Lupin” star Sy in one of the leading roles next to Elodie Bouchez, José Garcia and Vanessa Paradis, while Le Ny serves as director and Axella Cachman’s co-writer.
“There was a real bond and warmth between us then, which was easy to revive 13 years later,” says Le Ny, who shared the screen time with Matt Damon in “Stillwater” and earned her first writing/helming kudos for her breakthrough movie “Those Who Remain” (2008).
Her seventh pic as helmer, “Out of Control (“Dis moi juste que tu m’aimes”) world premieres at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival official competition on Nov. 16, is being produced by Move Movie’s Bruno Levy, in co-production with Sy’s production company Korokoro, France 2 Cinéma and La Compagnie Cinématographique & Panache Productions,...

Chicago Fire’s “Untouchable,” offered a solid mix of fiery explosions, both literal and figurative. Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Chief Pascal’s (Dermot Mulroney) pursuit of the crooked Captain Bishop (Keith Kupferer) heated up, not with flashy shootouts, but with the simmering tension of veiled threats and potential danger to their families. Spoiler alert: The following article contains mild spoilers from Chicago Fire season 13, episode 7, "Untouchable."
Even though Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann has been a main character in Chicago Fire since the beginning, he has been mysteriously missing in season 13 for two consecutive episodes now, making viewers concerned about his whereabouts. The NBC procedural drama TV series, created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, never explained Herrmann's absence. The network also never announced David Eigenberg's exit, even if it was temporary. Instead, NBC has left the audience to wonder what happened to the Chicago Fire season 13 character (and when or if he is coming back).
The fall finale of Chicago Fire season 13, "Quicksand," airs on Wednesday, November 20, at 9 pm Et on NBC. It's unclear when the series will return in 2025, but season 13 is expected to have 22 episodes total.

Severide and Pascal want to do the right thing in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 7. The problem is that this will put those close to them at risk.
They need to take down Bishop. Realizing that he is a dirty cop and is involved in an arson case, they need to find a way to prove it and put him away. Of course, Bishop has people on his side, and he will do whatever it takes to prevent himself from getting cause.
Pascal knows Severide is good at his job in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 7
I adore Pascal in the promo for the new episode. As it’s pointed out that arson is almost impossible to prove, Pascal nods to Severide and says “Not for him.” This is a man who knows how good Severide is at his job. He knows that arson is his calling.
It’s not surprising that he knows this.

A handful of holdover confirmed their resilience on what was otherwise a deathly quiet weekend at the mainland China box office.
Chinese crime actioner, “Go for Broke” (aka “Chong Sheng”) earned RMB35.4 million ($5.0 million) between Friday and Sunday, according to data from consultancy firm Artisan Gateway. That lifted it to first place in its fourth weekend of release and gives it a cumulative of $53.4 million.
“Alien Romulus,” which had topped the chart for the previous three weeks, fell to second place. It earned $4.5 million and became only the second Hollywood import title this year to earn more than $100 million in Chinese theaters (Behind “Godzilla x Kong”).
“How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,” the Thai-produced comedy drama, saw its week-on-week takings decline, but its chart rank improve. The film earned RMB18 million ($2.5 million) in third place, compared with $3.3 million and fifth place a week earlier. Since releasing in China on Aug.

“Alien: Romulus” claimed a third weekend win at the mainland China box office. And Thai comedy “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” climbed into the top five on its second week of release in the Middle Kingdom.
But those bright spots for imported titles underlined the currently poor performance of Chinese-made films which have dragged the Chinese summer season lower.
“Alien: Romulus” earned RMB63.4 million ($8.9 million) between Friday and Sunday, according to data supplied by consultancy firm Artisan Gateway. That gives it a total of RMB661 million ($93.1 million). The figure is higher than the $88.8 million the film has earned to Sunday in the North American market.
The running total is the second-highest achieved this year by any Hollywood film in China (behind only “Godzilla x Kong”) and has surprised many commentators. Just as surprising, it was achieved in August, a month which in previous years was considered to be...

“Alien: Romulus” has become Hollywood’s second biggest film of the year at the mainland China box office, following a strong second weekend hold.
The film picked up RMB140 million ($19.7 million) between Friday and Sunday in China, according to data from consultancy firm Artisan Gateway. That compares favorably with its $26.2 million opening weekend and gives it a cumulative of RMB523 ($73.7 million) since releasing on Aug. 16.
Among Hollywood import titles in 2024, the running total is beaten only by (Chinese-backed) “Godzilla v Kong” which amassed $134 million.
In less than two weeks, “Alien” has jumped ahead of a cluster of Hollywood’s other franchise titles and the $50 million ceiling that most have been stuck beneath. “Kung Fu Panda 4” earned $52 million in China. “Despicable Me 4” earned $56 million. “Dune 2” earned $49.7 million. “Inside Out 2” earned $48 million.
Imax reports that, of the latest weekend gross figure, the film earned $2.75 million on its screens.

Shiori Ito – face of Japan's #MeToo movement, one of Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2020, and author of award-winning memoir “Black Box” (2017) – assembled a documentary recording her rollercoaster of a lawsuit against her rapist, Noriyuki Yamagauchi. This marks her debut feature, “Black Box Diaries,” which premiered as a part of the World Cinema – Documentary Competition at Sundance Film Festival last month.
“Black Box Diaries” premiered at Sundance 2024 in the World Cinema – Documentary Competition. Its sales are managed by Dogwoof.
The documentary follows the heels of other stories that have been published that focus on the #MeToo movement, such as Chanel Miller's memoir, “Know My Name” (2019); Ursula Macfarlane's Weinstein investigation “Untouchable” (2019); and more recently, the prolonged court battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard (2022). While many of the previous examples are centered in the US, however, Ito's investigative journalistic take on her own rape case explores the legal murkiness of the Japanese court.

Given the current dismal political and cultural climate as well as streaming services’ massive appetite for celebrity driven content, it comes as no surprise that the 40th edition of the Sundance Film Festival is chock full of portrait documentaries. Frida Kahlo, Christopher Reeve, Luther Vandross and Tammy Faye are just a few of the boldface names that are being examined in various docus featured in the Sundance nonfiction lineup.
The festival is no stranger to star-driven docus. In recent years, films about Ruth Bader Ginsburg (“Rbg”), Fred Rogers (“Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”), Harvey Weinstein (“Untouchable”), Michael Jackson (“Leaving Neverland”), Kanye West (“jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy”), Bill Cosby (“We Need to Talk About Cosby”) and most recently Judy Blume (“Judy Blume Forever”) and Michael J. Fox (“Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie”) had world premieres in Park City.
