John Lithgows New Netflix Animated Movie Proves How Big A Mistake Disney Made In Replacing Him (Twice)
Image
John Lithgow has been featured in many acclaimed animated movies throughout his career, and while Spellbound isn't the best of his catalog, it demonstrates some excellent work that reminds audiences of the actor's voice-acting abilities. Lithgow's most famous animated movie is Shrek, for which he provided the voice of the villainous Lord Farquaad, but he's also appeared in projects such as The Jungle Bunch and Rugrats in Paris. Lithgow is generally known for villainous performances, but his animated work can be just as entertaining.

This includes Spellbound, a fun adventure for the whole family that centers around a teenage princess (voiced by Rachel Zegler) whose parents are suddenly transformed into giant monsters, leaving her alone with a dangerous mission to reverse the curse before it's too late. The film borrows many aspects from modern-era Disney, such as its bright animation style and classic fairy tale storytelling, but Spellbound's unique...

The Jungle Bunch: World Tour review – second time around for kooky animal toon
Die Dschungelhelden - Das grosse Kinoabenteuer (2017)
Frenetic adventures of tiger-striped penguin and chums resume in sequel that might appeal to the under-fives

Who knows; maybe there has been a clamour out there for a follow up to the 2017 animation The Jungle Bunch? I have to confess I couldn’t remember if I’d seen it when I sat down in front of this sequel: then a penguin waddled on to the screen painted with tiger stripes, and the memories clawed their way back in. The original was a relentlessly wacky nonsensical adventure about a gang of animal chums saving their forest from a pyromaniacal koala. The kind of targeted-at-under-fives mayhem that Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda pulled off better.

This frenetic sequel gives out more of the same. This time around, Maurice the penguin and his pals are up against a villainous beaver. The beaver’s diabolical plan is to destroy the jungle with a toxic purple foam,...

'The Jungle Bunch' ('Les As de la jungle'): Film Review
Die Dschungelhelden - Das grosse Kinoabenteuer (2017)
Like its squad of pint-sized, crime-fighting underdogs, The Jungle Bunch (Les As de la Jungle) is, in its own way, a sort of cartoon David taking on the Goliaths of Hollywood animation. Based on the hit French kids series (airing on Sprout in the U.S.), the $8 million feature was made for a fraction of your typical Pixar or DreamWorks production, yet manages to rival the big leagues in terms of PG-rated mayhem.

In terms of originality, though, this second theatrical effort — after the 2011 featurette The Jungle Bunch: The Movie — from creators David Alaux, Jean-Francois Tosti and...
