By 2023, Zendaya wasn’t just in Euphoria—she was the heart and soul of it, pulling in a cool million per episode for season three. That’s right. A cool million. Per episode.
But Zendaya’s glow-up wasn’t built in a day. Back in 2010, she kicked things off on Shake It Up alongside Bella Thorne. That wasn’t just a gig; it was her launchpad to Disney domination. She didn’t stop there—roles in Frenemies and Zapped kept the checks rolling in. And then came K.C. Undercover, where she reportedly earned $200,000 per season. Not bad for someone who started out on Kidz Bop albums, right?
While teens stressed over high school, 16-year-old Zendaya rocked Dancing With the Stars in 2013. Second place? No biggie—she cashed $200K, including a $125K bonus.

As both a critical and popular success, Joss Whedons Buffy the Vampire Slayer earned legions of loyal fans over the course of its seven seasons. It continues to draw in new fans who are finding it on streaming platforms, further cementing its status as a cult favorite, decades after the final episode aired. However, as with most shows that have a lengthy run, there is a consensus basement-dweller of an episode. In this case, its Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 4, Episode 5, Beer Bad.
The episode shows a heartbroken Buffy, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, drowning her sorrows with beer and the company of frat boys at a college bar. While there are legitimate gripes with the preachy tone of the episode, there are still some redeeming qualities and even a bad Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode is better than a lot of other teen dramas.

Zendaya may be one of the world's most in demand celebrities, but that doesn't mean she's comfortable with fame. The Emmy Award-winning actress, whose starring role in the Disney Channel's Shake it Up launched her into the industry, recently shared that while she loves her job, she's "terrified" by stardom. During a Dune: Part Two talk moderated by journalist Erik Davis, Zendaya and co-stars Timothe Chalamet and Austin Butler were posed with a question that likened the Messianic cult themes in the sci-fi film to the way people follow celebrities in today's pop culture (via Deadline).
"I feel like, often, I am not cut out for that part of it. I do love my job, I'm so grateful. I love doing the work, I love being on set, I do love moments like this don't get me wrong but I am terrified of that part of it, often."

Before Zendaya had leading roles in such blockbusters as “Dune: Part Two” and Marvel’s “Spider-Man” trilogy, she was known as a teen star on the Disney Channel series “Shake It Up” and “K.C. Undercover.” And, according to a former Disney Channel casting executive, the actor could’ve been associated with another major project from the network: the “Descendants” franchise.
Cornelia Frame, former vice president of casting and talent relations at Disney Channel, revealed in a recent interview on the “Magical Rewind” podcast that Zendaya auditioned for an undisclosed role in “Descendants.”
“Zendaya did audition many times for ‘Descendants,’ and that was a big deal,” Frame said. “I mean, a really big deal that she auditioned over and over. She really wanted it, and it just ended up not going her way.”

In fall 2009, a young girl nervously walked into an audition room to perform for Disney Channel casting agents, who were actively seeking the star for their new show ‘Dance Dance Chicago.’ The girl wasn’t fully confident in her dancing ability, but she connected with the character, Rocky Blue. After chemistry testing with another young actress, this girl was hired for her first major project, which would later be renamed ‘Shake It Up.’ A little over a decade later, she would win her first Emmy Award for ‘Euphoria.’ Now, Zendaya has become a household name after growing a reputation of excellence in the entertainment industry. At 27 years old, she’s been in multiple Disney Channel projects, animated films, a musical, three Marvel films, Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ franchise, and the newest Luca Guadagnino film ‘Challengers.’ She made Forbes’ 30 under 30 list at only 19 years old, and was labeled a “triple threat from the Mouse House.

Superstar Zendaya has been acting professionally since 2010, beginning with the role of Rocky Blue on the Disney teen sitcom "Shake It Up." Her first film gig was playing the voice of Lollipop, a talking pony in "Super Buddies." Zendaya continued to star in teen sitcoms and high school dramas for over a decade, appearing in "Frenemies," several "Spider-Man" movies, the remake of "Zapped," and the acclaimed HBO drama series "Euphoria." It's worth noting that Zendaya was already 23 when she was cast in "Euphoria," forcing the actor to remain in high school for years after her real-life high school graduation in 2015 (figuratively speaking).
The number of times the 27-year-old actor has played an adult is scant. Her first "adult" role came in the 2021 film "Malcolm & Marie," on which she served as executive producer. That same year, Zendaya also played the voice of Lola Bunny in "Space Jam: A New Legacy,...

Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal has admitted to not knowing who Zendaya was when she auditioned to play Michelle "Mj" Jones-Watson in 2017's Homecoming. In a recent interview, she shared how she was unaware that Zendaya was a former Disney Channel star.
As part of Vogue's profile on Zendaya to promote her upcoming movie, Challengers, Pascal recalled how she and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige initially had no idea "who she was" when Zendaya came in to audition for the role of acerbic introvert Michelle. "She was wearing no makeup and she was just dressed like a regular girl, and we were like, 'Oh my God, she’s amazing. She has to be in the movie,'" she recalled. "And then we found out she was a totally famous person, and felt really stupid."

Zendaya landed her big breakout film when she was cast opposite Tom Holland in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, producer Amy Pascal said neither she nor Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige knew who the star was when she auditioned for the role of Mj.
“She was wearing no makeup and she was just dressed like a regular girl, and we were like, ‘Oh my God, she’s amazing. She has to be in the movie,'” Pascal told Vogue. “And then we found out she was a totally famous person, and felt really stupid.”

The Challengers star began acting at a young age in the Disney Channel show Shake It Up. In an interview with Vogue, Zendaya reflected on her childhood as an adult.

With both title and central buddy dynamic tipping hat to “Superbad,” among other raunchy teen comedies, “Supercool” is not the kind of movie that wins prizes for originality. Nor is Finnish director Teppo Airaksinen’s first U.S.-shot, English-language project as outrageous as it thinks it is. Nonetheless, this energetic spin through high school antics redolent of everything since “Ferris Bueller” is colorful and amusing enough to entertain viewers looking for a familiar mix of bad-taste gags in a squeaky-clean suburban setting. Regardless of genre, film and television are mediums designed to entertain. But they are also vehicles to create emotional engagement with stories. And it’s one thing to feel connected; another entirely to see yourself reflected in a character that doesn’t just share your physical attributes, but also your experiences, your culture and your lifestyle. No matter where it comes from, representation matters. And for Zendaya, the first time she saw herself reflected on screen was on the very network that would later launch her own successful career.

Happy New Year everyone! Good to be back on the fanboy grind.
Late last fall, the word got out that Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld were among the young ladies being eyed to play young Jean Grey in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse, while Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet were under consideration for the role of young Cyclops.
Well, it looks like those names were preliminary because I got a new batch of names and these young folks are actually testing for the roles at this stage.

Disney has a long history of churning out teen stars who seem wholesome on the small and big screen, but in real life, they’re champagne-swilling, cigarette-smoking, club-hopping messy menaces (you know who we’re referring to, no need to name names). These days, many of the newer starshave cleaned up their acts — but something else is happening. Instead of behaving far too grown in their off-duty lives, they’re looking downright adult on their shows. Whether it’s because they’re actually damn near 30 (like Albert on How to Build a Better Boy) or styled like a substitute teacher (Ally on Austin & Ally), the new class of Disney “teen” stars could easily pass for residents on Grey’s Anatomy.
From Zapped’s Zendaya to the so-called middle-schoolers on A.N.T. Farm, check out the most grown-looking characters on the Disney Channel.

Somewhere, Pharrell Williams is laughing his giant Smokey the Bear hat off. Zendaya Coleman may be a fashion-forward starlet, but the "Replay" singer would never have happened upon this headwear on her own. We called The Voice judge ridiculous when he first sported his tall brown bowler, but at least he started the weird trend. The Shake It Up star, on the other hand, copied it like some teen girl rocking her crush's clothing just to make him notice. In fairness to the former Disney star, this look was first seen on the runways by Emporio Armani. Technically the Italian house is to blame for copying Pharrell. But there's plenty of blame to go around here. The Zapped star chose to wear this...

Zendaya Coleman has dropped out of Lifetime’s planned biopic of the late R&B singer Aaliyah.
Zendaya Coleman Drops Aaliyah Biopic
"Zendaya is no longer involved in the project,” a rep for Coleman told E! News. The rep didn’t provide any further details about why the singer and actress decided to walk away from the project.
There are a number of reasons that could be to blame for Coleman dropping the Aaliyah biopic, according to sources. Lifetime apparently had problems getting the rights to Aaliyah’s music among other production issues. Furthermore, Aaliyah’s family reportedly doesn’t support the project.
"Aaliyah has always been an inspiration to Zendaya," the source said. "She was honored to portray her and pay tribute to her. If she is going to do it, she wants to do it right."

Vulture analyses the state of the singing competition series, which seems to have run out of steam, especially after the lackluster debut of Rising Star. Maybe its time to try to revive a show like Making the Band or Popstars.
The View is rebooting next year. Yesterday, Sherri Shpherd and Jenny McCarthy announced that they were leaving the talk show. Additionally, TMZ reports that longtime producer Bill Gedde is leaving too. That leaves only Whoopi Goldberg staying. TMZ also says that the show is interested in bringing back Rosie O’Donnell or hiring Ross Mathews.

TVLine reports that The Goldbergs is planning a tribute episode to 80s teen movie legend John Hughes.
Guillermo del Toro says there’s a five season plan for his upcoming vampire drama The Strain which will follow the story from the Strain book trilogy but not too strictly.
