Great story about an obese man down on his luck and getting unluckier; he just found out he has multiple sclerosis. He quit his job and moves in with his brother, but life continues to go downhill. Until he walks into a gym that trains boxers. Mesmerized with the lifestyle, he gets a job there, in return for the gym owner to train him. Magically things start to get better, as Bobby starts to lose weight and gets healthier.
Tim Realbuto is phenomenal and inspirational as Bobby "Bobcat" Moretti. He actually loses over 100 pounds for the part, and the transformation is amazing. He is the underdog at the beginning of the movie and then becomes the hero. His character is extremely likable, and you want to root for him to win because he's such a hard worker and doesn't believe in giving up.
The film also stars Vivica Fox, who is powerful as the gym owner who helps Bobby in his transformation. The chemistry between the two is beautifully authentic and they become friends, and the gym becomes his home. Vivica is strong, but has empathy for Bobby and is able to push him, knowing she can help him. She owns this part!
Excellent directing by Rob Margolies, the story brings you in and keeps you riveted until the last scene. This is a feel good movie that people will want to watch again and again. The story shows that even when the chips are down, there is a way up, no matter what life throws at you. Very inspiring.

An inspiring and emotional journey as a young man discovers who he truly is and what he is capable of. Tim Realbuto's transformation is legendary and made me realize that I need to try harder (in basically all aspects of life). Incredible performances by a stellar supporting cast. Vivica A. Fox shines as the trainer, Taryn Manning and Matt Peters are sublime talents, and there's even a cameo by Coolio! Solid casting and another gem by writer/director Rob Margolies. I was lucky enough to see a screening at the Orlando Film Festival and highly recommend that you catch it any chance you get. It's going to tug on your heart strings but a little catharsis is good for your soul.

Bobcat Moretti includes relevant social commentaries within its stories with great acting and excellent background music with each important scenes. The directors, producers, writers and actors should be proud of what they accomplished.

Rob Margolies' 'Bobcat Moretti' is a compelling film telling the story of an obese MS patient (played by Tim Realbuto) who finds his way to his late father's gym and begins training as a boxer. Along the way, we learn that he has suffered immense personal tragedy in his life and is struggling to find a way to deal with it and achieve balance and inner peace.
The screenplay was artfully written by Rob Margolies and Tim Realbuto and tells Bobby 'Bobcat' Moretti's story with authenticity, transparency, empathy, and grace. Tim's performance is stellar. He actually lost 154 pounds during filming over the course of a year. He truly became Bobby Moretti as he dug into the role.
The film features a large cast in supporting roles. Standout performances were given by Vivica Fox as the no-nonsense gym owner Joanne 'Jo' Wallis, Sheria Irving as the tough fellow boxer Lacy 'Boots' Harris, Jay Hieron as a celebrated boxer Tony Pinto, Matt Peters as Bobby's brother Charlie Moretti, Taryn Manning as Bobby's sister-in-law Debra Moretti, and Louis Mustillo as trainer Carmine.
Cinematography by Andressa Cordeiro was expertly and artfully executed. Fight sequences choreographed by stunt coordinator Jay Hieron were well done and very realistic. Editing by Taylor Brusky created the right pace for the film and supported storytelling very well. The score by Ilan Rubin perfectly supported and elevated an already amazing film. Source music selected for the film was perfectly paired and included tracks by composer Ilan Rubin, such as "Sweet Kind of Suffering" and "You Can Be (Whoever You Want to Be)" played during the end credits.
In short, this film elevates the human spirit and is well worth watching.

Wow - this move is bad. I was excited to watch it with all the great ratings and reviews. What a fool I was. I'm only writing this review because I'm so angry it has such high ratings and I feel a duty to try and change that. This movie is truly awful. The characters are one dimensional cliches - central character with an incurable disease and deep family trauma - check, struggling single mother with smart and beautiful daughter - check, bully ex- boyfriend of said single mother - check, elderly coach with drinking problem - check, tough, but wise and caring gym owner who takes central character under her wing ( oh and she's a recovering addict too of course) - check. The script and plot were unimaginative, wooden and utterly predictable. If you told me ChatGPT had written it I would not be surprised. Even the music was poorly chosen and never seemed to match the tone of the scenes. I'm sure a bunch of people will watch this because of the great reviews, but if you do and you hate it, don't say I didn't warn you!!!!
WUSSTEST DU SCHON:
- WissenswertesIn the same vein of the Academy Award winning 'Boyhood' (2014), this movie will film for over a year to give star Tim Realbuto enough time to lose over 100 pounds.
