It's surprising that these guys can tie their own shoes. Norton is upset that he has worked for the sanitation department (the sewers of New York) for seventeen years and they gave a promotion to a guy who had only worked there for a your. Of course, Ralph, who has nothing to lose, tells Norton to give his boss an ultimatum. No raise. I quit. Naturally, he gets fired and is left with no job and having to live from hand to mouth. When Alice finds out what Ralph did, she insists they take care of the Nortons, feeding them, and treating them with kindness. What happens is typical Ralph. When Norton makes up a story about being a great salesman, making big money, to not depend on the Kramdens, Ralph decides to charge them for their food. It all goes haywire for a while and Ralph manages to do one more stupid thing. All in a day's work.

Never play cards with Norton. That's a lesson Ralph needs to learn. After all, he loses all of 28-cents. But then Ralph gets back by advising Ed to quit his job after failing to get a promotion. Except he doesn't want Alice to find out, so guess who inadvertently tattles. Now jobless, Ed and Trixie get help from the Kramdens, but what's Ed to do.

Ralph does one of his flying-fist-to-the-moon hissy fits with Alice. But who really takes him seriously even though it can now be seen as 'politically incorrect'. After all, much of the series appeal is laughing at Ralph's histrionic bluster. Anyway, there's the usual amount of Honeymooner's humor to keep us entertained.
