Bloodrayne: The Third Reich is the second sequel to a video game adaption franchise. This title is directed by the notorious Uwe Boll (Rampage), who is no stranger to the straight-to-video film market. This latest film follows Bloodrayne (2005) and Bloodrayne II: Deliverance (2007). And you might be upset to find out that Boll intends to make a fourth film in this series, based on the final scene of this latest flick *groan*.

There is an interesting element in Boll's filmmaking strategies, as another film, titled Blubberella, was filmed almost simultaneously as Bloodrayne: The Third Reich. Both films use the same characters, same actors, same sets and even the same plotline. Only the genre changes from thriller to comedy. Phase 4 Films bloodies things up a bit with the upcoming release of BloodRayne: The Third Reich – Unrated Director’s Cut on Blu-Ray and DVD on July 5.

Directed by Uwe Boll, BloodRayne: The Third Reich is the third entry in the action/horror film franchise inspired by the best-selling video game. The previous films, 2005’s BloodRayne and 2007’s BloodRayne II: Deliverance, were also directed by Boll.

The striking Natassia Malthe (Doa.: Dead or Alive) reprises her titular role from BloodRayne II: Deliverance in this 2010 movie, which finds the half-vampire/half-human Rayne (Malthe) continuing to live in the shadows as she slaughters vampires and anyone else who gets in her way. Today sees the UK based satellite chanel Zone Horror re-brand itself back to the Horror Channel. As part of the celebratory proceedings the channel are airing a special Vampire Week, featuring fourteen(!) vampire movies And the Horror Channel premiere of Blade: The Series starring rapper Sticky Fingaz as the titular hero.

Why am I telling you this you may ask? Well airing as part of Vampire Week are, in my opinion, four of the Best vampire movies ever made – the Subspecies quadrilogy. As well as the not-as-good-as-the-originals Subspecies spin-off Vampire Journals. For those of you who have never heard of Subspecies, the films are a direct-to-video series produced by Full Moon Studios (Puppetmaster, Demonic Toys), which were released between 1991 to 1998, and followed the exploits of vampire Radu Vladislas, portrayed by actor Anders Hove, and his efforts to turn Michelle Morgan into his fledgling.
