The world of Black Mirror is back. The screens are darker, the stories more poignant, and the questions more uncomfortable than ever. As we head into this new season, a name appears behind the curtain once again. A familiar name. The same man who has been wreaking havoc on our minds for the past ten years. Yes, Black Mirror Season 7 is Charlie Brooker’s masterpiece once again.
Season 7 brings new fears. New realities. A reflection of the world we live in and the horror we’re heading into. Each episode is like a window. But one that doesn’t look out of, but one that stares back at you. Charlie Brooker isn’t just the creator of Black Mirror.
He’s a cultural alarm bell. A man who turns anxiety into art. Who shows us our true selves through screens, through satire, and terrifying shadows.
How Charlie Brooker made sarcasm...

Black Mirror's Netflix parody Streamberry has made a surprising return in a completely different show, Cunk on Life. This raises some interesting questions regarding Streamberry’s role in the Black Mirror universe, one of the best British shows on Netflix, and what this means for one of Brooker’s recurring characters, Philomena Cunk.
Cunk on Life debuted on BBC Two at 9 pm GMT on December 30th, 2024. UK viewers can stream it on BBC iPlayer, while international audiences can find it on Netflix starting January 2nd, 2025. Black Mirror season 7 is also one of the most exciting TV series returning in 2025. While they are very different projects, they share some similarities, the latest being the appearance of the Streamberry streaming service.

When discussing award-winning writer Charlie Brooker, most fans associate him with either Black Mirror or his satirical news shows like Newswipe or Screenwipe. Yet, many audiences are completely unaware that Brooker has delved into a ton of genres, all of which embody his usual twisted and shocking tone. Dead Set works to completely subvert the reality show Big Brother and present fans with an unnerving dystopian reality.
When Dead Set premiered back in 2008, it was shown just six weeks after the conclusion of the latest series, making it a great watch for audiences who are keen to enjoy a nostalgic take on 2000s Britain. Complete with excellent makeup effects, a twisted storyline, and a smart ending; Dead Set is everything fans expect from their favorite writer. So, why is this miniseries so underrated compared to its successor, Black Mirror?

Former Netflix UK Director of Scripted Chris Sussman has signed a deal with Banijay UK.
Under terms of the exclusive first-look agreement, he’ll develop original scripted projects, working with Banijay labels to produce them.
This is part of Banijay’s £50M ($59M) UK Growth Fund initiative, which is aimed at partnering the group with high-profile talent, investing in new business and striking other sorts of talent deals.
Sussman fits that bill. His credits include work on Fleabag, This Country, Catastrophe, Charlie Brooker’s Wipe, Good Omens, Mum, People Just Do Nothing and Bad Education. We revealed back in June last year that he was exiting his post at Netflix, where he had worked on shows such as Man Vs Bee and Harlan Coben drama Stay Close, and we later reported he was in talks to exec the fourth season of Apple TV+’s Trying.

A new series of “Black Mirror” is in the works at Netflix, Variety can reveal.
It’s been almost three years since Season 5 of the dystopian drama premiered on the streaming service in June 2019, but sources indicate that a new anthology series of “Black Mirror” is shaping up, and casting is now underway.
While details about specific stories are being kept under lock and key, Variety understands that Season 6 will have more episodes than Season 5, which comprised of just three instalments and starred Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus.
A source close to the production tells Variety that the latest season is even more cinematic in scope, with each instalment being treated as an individual film. This is, of course, in line with recent seasons of “Black Mirror,” for which episodes usually exceeded 60 minutes and had incredibly high production values.

The year from hell, i.e. 2020, is about to get the mockumentary treatment courtesy of none other than Charlie Brooker, the creator of “Black Mirror.” Leave it to the maker of some of television’s darkest dystopias to conjure a new one, and once again at Netflix, now the home to ongoing seasons of “Black Mirror.”
While details about the mockumentary remain hush-hush, Hugh Grant let it slip earlier this year during an interview about “The Undoing” with New York Magazine that he’ll be featured in the project.
“Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix,” Grant said, adding that he will be “an historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.” Anyone who saw “The Undoing,” the HBO miniseries co-starring Nicole Kidman that wrapped on Sunday, realizes Grant knows a thing or two about being repellent.

Some exciting new UK drama and comedy commissions are making their way to TV over the next year or so…
We know, we know. You still have two episodes of Fargo season two before you can think about starting season three. You’ve already fallen behind on American Gods. Your planner memory is chock-a-block with Big Little Lies and that Oj Simpson thing and some Spanish prison series your workmate bullied you into recording. You’re struggling to make time for Twin Peaks. New Game Of Thrones is just around the corner. And guess what, Netflix UK have just added a whole new season of It’s Always Sunny, those sods. You need a list of new TV show recommendations like you need a hole in the head.

And yet, as long as they keep making them, we’ll keep recommending them.

Ruth Jones is developing a new sitcom for BBC One, it has been revealed.
BBC comedy controller Shane Allen has confirmed that the Gavin & Stacey co-creator and star will front a new show, that may form part of a second season of Comedy Playhouse projects in 2015.
He added that Jones's company Tidy Productions may choose to produce a non-transmission pilot episode.
"Ruth is fantastic and we'd love to do something with her," he told Broadcast. "We were talking studio shows and she would be absolutely perfect for that."
Meanwhile, Allen has ordered six episodes of The Kennedys, a sitcom written by Celebrity MasterChef winner Emma Kennedy. The show will be based on her family life.
iPlayer will also stream a second series of comedy shorts, following this year's sketches from the likes of Frankie Boyle and Micky Flanagan. They will be released around Valentine's Day.

BBC Four has announced details of four new shows to be broadcast later this year.
Mackenzie Crook will star in the six-part series Detectorists, in which he uses his own experiences as a metal detector enthusiast.
Crook will "tap into the world of the male hobby which is very funny and touching", BBC controller of comedy commissioning Shane Allen said.
The BBC is looking to announce a "big name" star to appear opposite Crook in the series, according to Radio Times.
The pair will "embark on a journey of greed, betrayal, rejection and redemption as they hurtle towards Danbury Metal Detecting Club's greatest ever find".
Meanwhile, Miles Jupp will write and star as cookery writer Damien Trench in In and Out of the Kitchen, a three-part series based on the Radio 4 comedy.
Each episode follows Damien and his partner Anthony (Justin Edwards), their builders Mr Mullaney and Steven, and Damien's "terrifying" agent Ian.

Charlie Brooker has spoken to Digital Spy about the lack of computer game shows on mainstream TV, arguing that they are neglected because of the false stereotype that the medium is aimed primarily at children.

Charlie Brooker is no doubt a great journalist, an arguably decent comedian, and has created some fantastic shows about the strange and horrible world of working in television. Not just that: he also created Black Mirror, a TV show about what technology has done and might do in the future, should we continue to be so reliant on it. It’s a wonderfully dark and miserable place which tickles me pink.
One idea that seems to have slipped Brooker’s mind, though, is Gameswipe. Gameswipe’s first and only episode aired on 29th September 2009 in the UK, so it perplexes me as to why he’s so hesitant to create another. Here’s a list of 5 reasons why Charlie Brooker should make Gameswipe: Part 2 in the not-too-distant future.

The latest story from the dark mind of Charlie Brooker was unleashed in last night's creepy and unnerving episode of Black Mirror.
The professional ranter and part-time TV writer is one of the most in-demand talents on British TV, splitting his time between endless comedy, drama and entertainment projects over the last couple of years.
From the silliness of Touch of Cloth, the political commentary of 10 O'Clock Live to the sinister Black Mirror series, Brooker always delivers the goods.
Digital Spy has looked back at his finest work and picked out six of his best since he made the move from TVGoHome satirist to fully-fledged TV comic.

Charlie Brooker is one of those UK wonders who hasn't made the jump to American audiences yet, and that is a damn shame. Charlie Brooker’s pack of 3 stand-alone shows has certainly raised eyebrows with its controversial content but has won plaudits both from critics and the viewing public. The final episode aired last night and the series has left many thinking he should be up for some awards come ceremony time. Does he deserve a BAFTA? Many think so, and if he does achieve that recognition it will have been quite a journey for a man who was once known merely as a venomous critic, spitting vitriol over prime time television.
When the big HBO shows were first aired on this side of the pond I excitedly tuned in every Sunday evening to watch these soon-to-be classics. The Sopranos, Deadwood and 6 Feet Under were like nothing I’d seen before. At the same time I was a regular reader of The Guide, the Guardian’s Saturday supplement, in which Charlie Brooker wrote his Screen Burn column.

Charlie Brooker’s Twilight Zone inspired horror anthology Black Mirror begins on Sunday with “The National Anthem”, the first of three stand alone episodes which at once juggle razor sharp satire, silly jokes and disturbing imagery. It’s safe to say it’s unlike anything else you’ve seen on British television in the last twelve months – in fact you’d probably have to reach back to Chris Morris’ similarly warped Jam to find something even remotely similar.
The premise of this episode is difficult to explain without spoilers, so to put it extremely vaguely: it’s about a Prime Minister (Rory Kinnear) who awakens one morning to find that a member of the Royal Family has been taken hostage and will be killed if he doesn’t fulfil an unusual and embarrassing demand on live television within the next few hours. Through his collaboration with Chris Morris writing Nathan Barley, to his insightful Screenwipe TV series and often hilarious Guardian newspaper columns, Charlie Brooker has established himself not only as one of the country’s most influential satirists, but also as a foremost media commentator. Today, at least for the left, he is as much part of the zeitgeist as the TV shows he trashes to bits. All of the above shows – as well as his well regarded Big Brother zombie apocalypse mini-series Dead Set - share at their core a fascination with how we engage with media, often with added emphasis on the technology involved and how that continues to change our society.
These concerns are once again in the foreground of new three-part series Black Mirror, which tells three stand alone horror stories very much in the spirit of The Twilight Zone. But these are highly satirical modern nightmares...
