Without consulting Angela, Angela's mother Mona told Tony Micelli he can be Angela's new housekeeper.

Widower and former unemployed baseball player Tony Micelli meets up with Mona, the mother of Angela Bauer at the local community college. (A scene later shown in flashback in a later show) She tells Tony about the vacant position of housekeeper at her daughter's home and says there's "no problem". Tony then uproots himself and his 11 year old Samantha from Brooklyn and takes them in his less than beautiful blue van to Angela's New England suburbs home. Angela is none to thrilled about a man applying for the job, or that her mother said okay to him without checking with her. After much bartering and discussion Tony is hired but only because she sees how good he is with her son Johanthan. A few first week difficulties result (like Tony threatening her boss with a baseball bat,thinking he's attacking Angela), but she later thanks him for his concern and the show concludes with Tony telling Samantha "Looks like we got our work cut out for us Sam."—happipuppi13

Feeling Brooklyn is no place to raise his brat daughter Samantha, Tony Micelli have notice at job and apartment to accept a housekeeper job in Connecticut. Although instead of owner Angela Bower, only her in-living, hunk-obsessed ma Mona Robinson offered him the job. Luckily Angela's pre-teen son Jonathan badly needs a male role model, and perfect pa Tony is just that, so he gets a trial period. Their first trial comes when Angela's boss Grant Paxton calls by as her date, and Tony ultimately inspires her to refuse a weekend with him which would boost her chances at promotion to Grant's present job when he becomes the ad agency's chairman.—KGF Vissers
