Made in 1984. The perils of leaving your space mission to private enterprise. Oops America too late!
The story deals with biological warfare, brainwashing and oligarchs running amok.
The press is covering the space shuttle's first privately funded mission with some important biological research.
The same people involved in the experiments want Blue Thunder designer Professor Von Hartig (George Gaynes.)
He is a patsy who has been brainwashed but he can give the baddies access to Blue Thunder's electronic designs and the plane itself.
Once again it all looks a bit silly, but it is better than some previous episodes. The humorous side story with Ski and his dating life was fun.

Chaney and the Blue Thunder team face an enemy determined to destroy them and the precious antidote to many of the world's present biological warfare systems. Also, after a accident involving the helicopter's entire electronics being short-circuited by power lines at a nearby power plant where the team managed to apprehend two men linked to the trading of German Warfare products, Professor Von Hartig designs an ECM for the 'copter so it can combat any problems with power lines and such, and he hands Chaney a card for that, however, under the hypnotism of the bad guys, he asks for the key back - which leaves the Blue Thunder vulnerable.
Of course, we will have to watch and see if Chaney and co. Figure how to tackle this problem - it's a solid episode, has the usual spate of action, the standout being the super helicopter getting zapped by the power lines. Wanderlove gets a bit more screen time beyond sitting in the 'copter, in front of his computer, and gets in to thick of the action with Bubba and Ski.
