Real-Life Killer Inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s Horror Masterpiece (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho might feel like the kind of twisted tale born entirely from imagination, but its roots go deeper, tapping into a chilling reality that once haunted the backroads of Wisconsin. Before it ever made its way to the big screen in stark black-and-white, it lived on the pages of a novel by Robert Bloch, who had been quietly crafting horror just miles away from a real-life monster, named Ed Gein.
The Real Monster Behind the Fiction
Ed Gein’s life shared haunting similarities with that of Norman Bates. His crimes, besides being brutal, were grotesque in ways that echoed through the main character of the movie.
Both Gein and Bates lived reclusive lives in rural America. Both were shaped by domineering, deeply twisted mothers and both blurred the line between man and woman, with Gein...

At the Masked Singer Season 13 finale on Wednesday, Boogie Woogie watched as Pearl was crowned champion and whisked away with the Golden Mask trophy. It was a bittersweet ending for the orange disco daddy, who had amazed panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora throughout the season.
After the confetti settled, Boogie Woogie turned on the charm as he removed his mask to reveal multiplatinum recording artist Andy Grammer.
"I'm very competitive, so I can't say I didn't care," Grammer tells Gold Derby (watch the video interview above). "But there is something about being in a huge mascot monster costume that just brings the vibe to a chill place. You're very aware that while the music is telling me this is the most important thing in the world — this is so fun and ridiculous. Whatever it is, it's so fun to be here."

Asap Rocky has successfully turned his life around following a challenging legal battle that threatened his entire career. Now, after winning the lawsuit in February, the rapper is on the verge of rewriting his life.
The 37-year-old rapper, who is starring in Spike Lee’s Cannes-bound film Highest 2 Lowest, currently has his plate full. Lee’s remake of Akira Kurosawa’s film noir, High and Low, features Rocky facing off with Oscar-winner Denzel Washington.
While Rihanna’s partner has already tried his hand at method acting, the Praise the Lord rapper has now set his sights on a cult character – James Bond.
Asap Rocky as the next James Bond?

It’s after midnight in a suite at the W hotel, overlooking New York City’s Union Square, and I’m sitting across from A$AP Rocky as he toys with a half-smoked blunt. There’s a fresh one in the ashtray beside it that one of his assistants recently rolled for him. The armchair I’m perched on is made of stuffed Mickey Mouse toys, a “Tom and Jerry” cartoon is playing on mute in the background and Jefferson Airplane’s psychedelic music is blaring from the stereo.
“Can you guys bring that chair closer?” Rocky says to one of his crew about my seat, then turns to me. “It’s heavier than it looks.”
It’s a gentlemanly gesture from the sweet, Grammy-nominated hip-hop star, who is now as well known for his evolution into subversive fashion icon as he is for his A-list coupling with Rihanna.

Spike Lee arrives for this interview in Los Angeles fresh off of Steven Spielberg’s plane, wearing a New York Knicks hat and jacket. He’ll be quickly changing into a black-and-white suit covered in tiny Michael Jordan silhouettes to speak at Francis Ford Coppola’s AFI Life Achievement Award Ceremony in Hollywood, then will hop on another plane so that he can sit courtside at a Knicks playoff game in Detroit on Sunday morning. For some people, this itinerary might be a flex. For Spike Lee, this is Saturday night.
In May, Lee, 68, is heading to France to premiere Highest 2 Lowest at the Cannes Film Festival beside his longtime collaborator Denzel Washington, who plays a music mogul confronted with the dilemma of — well — how to do the right thing. For a lot of people, the “Star Wars” universe begins and ends with the original, prequel and sequel trilogies, and the handful of spinoffs and live-action series on Disney+. But the diehards know that some of the best stories told in a galaxy far, far away actually take place in the various animated shows that have been released.
That’s a lot of episodes to sift through – especially when it comes to “The Clone Wars” – so we put together a guide to some of the very best Star Wars episodes the animated shows have to offer. Every single one of these expand on the lore, introduce something discussed in a live-action property, or are just a damn good time and they’re all streaming on Disney+.

“You” is over, but there are plenty of murderous shows with morally questionable characters yet to be binged on Netflix.

Revisiting The Darkest Night Of Charlize Theron’s Teen Years! (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Charlize Theron is Tinseltown’s symbol of glitz, grace, and unfiltered skill. The tall, golden-haired stunner with the defined chin, captivating admirers one gala at a time. She’s appeared on screen in hits like The Italian Job and Reindeer Games, but it was her gutsy portrayal of Aileen Wuornos in Monster that landed her on the Academy’s radar.
Yet what many don’t realize about this South African beauty isn’t tucked in her glittering reel. It’s the story of her early years, a real-life epic that rivals any cinematic plotline. Let’s rewind to 1991, when Charlize was only 15. She was living in a peaceful South African hamlet, a place where mayhem was waiting in the shadows.
Her parents, Gerda and Charles Theron, were stuck in a volatile union. Charles, a heavy drinker, had...

In their bid to seek a new trial or resentencing, Lyle and Erik Menendez have filed a blistering motion to disqualify the office of the District Attorney from participating in the proceedings.
“The record shows a conflict that renders it unlikely Erik and Lyle can receive a fair resentencing hearing, recusal is proper,” the 160-page filing states.
The case involving the famed brothers — who have served 35 years in prison for the 1989 murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty, at their Beverly Hills home — has featured various twists and turns over the past six months. In October, then-District Attorney George Gascón moved to reduce the brothers’ sentence from life without parole to 50 years to life. That reduction, if granted, would make the brothers immediately eligible for parole. But Gascón lost in the November election, and newly elected D.A. Nathan Hochman reversed course and withdrew Gascón’s resentencing recommendation.

Universal Pictures owns the rights to a series of iconic horror characters from different classic novels, including Frankenstein's Monster, The Mummy, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Invisible Man, Count Dracula, and others. Many have been successfully adapted in the classic era, but Universal has struggled with its remakes.
The latest Universal Monsters project was Wolf Man, which premiered in early 2025. The horror film had a lot of potential, as the studio was still basking in the success of 2020's The Invisible Man, and had hired the same director, Leigh Whannell, for the project. Although Wolf Man didn't live up to expectations, both critically and commercially, it has become a hit on Peacock following its recent release on streaming, per FlixPatrol.

Fans of Andrzej Żuławski’s 1981 psychological horror movie Possession weren’t exactly thrilled to learn that a remake is on the way from Paramount and Smile filmmaker Parker Finn, but director Razka Robby Ertanto beat the remake to the punch with Possession: Kerasukan.

“A Normal Family” begins with the death of a family, but not the one you might expect. Before his film turns its attention to the family alluded to by its title, director Hur Jin-ho revs out the gate with a case of road rage that ends in murder. Or maybe not, if the lawyer defending the driver in question has his way.

Few anime villains come close to the sheer dread evoked by Naoki Urasawa’s Johan Liebert and Kentaro Miura’s Griffith. There are antagonists, and then there are these guys. Where one would usually use an antagonist to prop up the protagonist, these antagonists are just innately evil and corrupted. They are different, calm, composed, and committed to their goal. There is something extremely chilling about being that single-minded.
But if it comes to the question of who is more evil, terrifying, or unnerving, who among these two wins? That is a difficult question to answer, but one thing is sure.
No matter how many viewers were affected by Urasawa’s Johan and got chills, there is no denying that Miura’s Griffith is much more unnerving.
Griffith’s corrupted nature vs Johan’s innate evil
The two antagonists are similar yet different, possibly because of the different circumstances in which they were placed.

“This book is the monster that lives inside your closet,” fellow author Grady Hendrix raved about Bird Box writer Josh Malerman’s horror novel Incidents Around the House, and Deadline reports that director Rob Savage is adapting the tale for the screen.
Rob Savage will direct the Incidents Around the House movie for producer James Wan’s company Atomic Monster, with Jessica Chastain (It: Chapter 2) set to lead the movie’s cast.

On that note, here’s the full synopsis for the novel…
To eight-year-old Bela, her family is her world. There’s Mommy, Daddo, and Grandma Ruth. But there is also Other Mommy, a malevolent entity who asks her every day: “Can I go inside your heart?”

Did Tom Hanks reject Charlize Theron? (Photo Credit – Wikipedia/Instagram)
The movie was That Thing You Do!, a musical dramedy about a one-hit-wonder band in the 1960s. Theron wanted the lead. Hanks passed. His reason? “You’re too much of a supernova to play Faye.”
That wasn’t just a creative choice, it was instinct. Tom Hanks saw the firepower in Theron long before the Academy did. She auditioned for Faye, the soft-spoken, supportive girlfriend of the band’s frontman. Hanks liked her, but he saw something else. Something bigger.
“Charlize read on the very first day that I read actors,” Hanks told The Ringer. “She said, ‘Listen, I know I can play Tina, but I want to play Faye.’ I said, ‘I get that,’ but what I was thinking in my head was, ‘You’re too much of a supernova to play Faye.’ Casting her was such a coup.

There are very few stories in the entertainment industry that have stretched out as long as Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, which started way back in 1997. The series has been going on for almost 30 years with the anime starting in 1999. However, even after going on for so long, it looks like the story will be dragged for a few more years before it reaches the finish line.
While fans are happy to get a continuous dose of One Piece, dragging the series for almost 30 years might not have worked so well for the creators. In fact, there are a few of them who have sadly passed away before even finding out the conclusion of the series. Most of these are voice actors who have offered their voices for the characters from One Piece.

It's a great time to be a fan of the most-watched Netflix limited series of the year... so far, but it's unimaginable that any show coming this year will snatch the title from Adolescence. The one-take UK thriller series premiered with a bang on March 13, becoming an overnight success that has only continued to grow week after week thanks to positive word of mouth. Now, it's an all-timer.
After less the one month on Netflix, Adolescence has risen through the top 10 most popular English-language Netflix shows of all time ranking. In four weeks, the show has managed to surpass two seasons of Bridgerton to rank in the top 5 at No. 4. Adolescence has currently grabbed over 114 million views and growing. There's still a chance the series could best Stranger Things season 4 and Dahmer: Monster.

In 2022, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan teamed up to create the chilling miniseries Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which would go on to haunt viewers’ nightmares and inspire controversial Halloween costumes for years to come. While the duo had previously dabbled in the disturbed, collaborating on Scream Queens and, in Murphy’s case, co-creating American Horror Story with Brad Falchuk, this newest project marked a whole new level of exploration. Originally conceived as a limited series focused on Jeffrey Dahmer, the breakout hit tapped into the pervasive fascination with serial killers. This success led to its promotion from a limited series to an ongoing anthology, with the second installment, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, following two years later. For its third season, Monster shifts to its next subject: Ed Gein, set to be portrayed by Charlie Hunnam. As fans anticipate what looks to be the most unsettling entry yet,...

In the age of countless streaming options, dozens of TV shows end up cancelled each year, and in 2023, "The Rookie: Feds" was one of the casualties. According to Deadline, the series spent months in limbo amidst the dual labor movements that made Hollywood productions grind to a halt that year. When the spin-off of "The Rookie" was finally cancelled in November 2023 after just one season, Deadline credited the strikes as the cause, but according to series co-creator Alexi Hawley, the reasoning behind the show's premature demise wasn't quite so simple.
In title, "The Rookie: Feds" sounded like just another law enforcement procedural spin-off among several, in this case born of the long-running ABC series "The Rookie." That show stars Nathan Fillion as the oldest Los Angeles Police Department newbie to join the force, and it's still going strong with seven seasons and counting. There have been many memorable music videos over the last few decades, but for many, still the undisputed champ would be Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The iconic video, directed by John Landis in 1983, changed the game for the artform, creating a vibrant, haunting world that was part music video, part horror movie. It’s still a favorite for many of us who grew up in the 80s, and it’s seemingly always finding new fans with each passing generation. Jackson was a force in plenty of notable videos in his time, but one that has escaped most people’s notice is the one we’re going to focus on today: “Ghosts.” It’s fairly surprising how under-the-radar this video has been since its debut in 1996 considering the names involved with it. And while part of its low profile could certainly be attributed to the controversies that have swirled around the pop singer for years,...

Mikey Madison has experienced a meteoric rise to superstardom thanks to her Academy Award-winning performance in Sean Baker's romantic dramedy Anora, in which the talented leading lady beautifully portrayed the titular New York stripper who experiences a whirlwind love affair with the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch. Not only did the acclaimed picture take home five golden statuettes, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Madison, but it also became Baker's highest-grossing film of his blossoming career thus far.
Though it may seem as though Madison came out of nowhere when she took audiences by storm with her career-defining performance, the actress had actually been hustling in Hollywood for years before headlining the captivating indie hit. In fact, Baker first became a fan of the actress when she appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, though it was her diabolical role as Amber Freeman...

He may not be returning to Star Wars (yet), but it looks like the Force is bringing together Oscar Isaac and Rogue One director/Andor creator Tony Gilroy. The actor is reportedly set to star in Gilroy's next feature film, a drama about a cello player — though there is very little known about the movie beyond that. If true, it would mark the first time the duo have worked together. But given the talent involved, we could absolutely see it not being the last time these two talented storytellers unite in creative collaboration.
Per the folks over at ComingSoon.net, the film is only in the script stage, with details being kept under wraps. There are, reportedly, several interested studio players involved in negotiations to grab the distribution and/or production rights to the film, currently titled Behemoth. The four-part show follows a gritty Neapolitan hustler, Carmine Esposito, who inherits a remote estate from his estranged late brother in Finland’s unforgiving Lapland. Accompanied by two city slicker friends, he thinks he will get a quick payday, but this quickly turns into a two-month ordeal.

Warner Bros. is making some major changes to its release slate ahead of its CinemaCon presentation in two weeks, as five films — including Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!” — see shifts on the 2025 and 2026 release schedule.
“One Battle After Another,” a crime thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio, moves from an August 8 release to September 26. The film will still get its planned release on Imax screens — including select theaters with 70mm — and will now also get a special release on VistaVision, the extinct film format recently revived by the Oscar-winning drama “The Brutalist.”
Sources at Warner Bros. say the delay will give the studio more time to prepare VistaVision prints and projectors for the release. The move also situates the film in the more traditional period for awards contenders in the fall.
The film is one of several big, auteur-driven gambles for Warner Bros.

Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is one of the most brilliant masterworks of cinema ever released. It's a bold and ambitious fantasy epic that is lauded for effectively balancing emotional character arcs and complex storytelling. The grand scope of the trilogy is full of substance for fans of the genre but also for fans of cinema in general. Despite all its praise, awards and iconic immortality, it's not often discussed just how well the trilogy blends multiple genres.
The Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest adventure tales in literature and cinema. It is also a masterclass in visual effects, set design, hair and make-up and just about every aspect of movie magic. However, J.R.R. Tolkien and Peter Jackson deserve a ton of credit for the world-building envisioned and then eventually brought to life on screen. This fantasy universe brings multiple genres to the forefront,...

There's some exciting news about Wednesday season 2 to share with fans of the Netflix original series!
In a recent interview with Collider promoting her new movie, Death of a Unicorn, Jenna Ortega revealed a big update about Wednesday season 2 post-production. Ortega mentioned she's been doing Adr on season 2, which is usually one of the final steps for cast before a season is finished.
Here's what Ortega told Collider:
“We're still in the edit. I was doing Adr for it two weeks ago. That's the funny thing about these jobs is you're done, you wrap, but you're not really done. So, I'll probably be working on it until the end.”
The cast and crew finished filming season 2 at the end of 2024, and according to Ortega's latest update, things are progressing through post-production in the spring of 2025.
Prior to this update, it had been a minute since we heard any updates about...
