Ayaan tricks a model into marrying him, when she leaves her diary in his family's garage, allowing him to follow her around.

Ayaan lives a very wealthy lifestyle with his married brother Karan and his wife Anju, younger sister Yamini and brother Rahul, and his mom and grandma, and runs a garage. ; his mom, and grandma; and runs a garage. One day he meets beautiful model Ahana and falls head over heels in love with her. She forgets her personal diary at his garage, and through this Ayaan woos her and wins her heart, and they get married. Ahana soon finds out that despite Ayaan's wealth, his family is very conservative and traditional. This causes bitterness between the newlyweds, which gets worse when she becomes pregnant and wants to abort the child. While visiting her mom on their dog's birthday, Ahana has an accident which results in a miscarriage. Ayaan blames her for losing the child, but his mother convinces him and he apologizes. Months later, Ahana becomes pregnant again, and that's when she finds out that Ayaan had pulled wool over her eyes through her personal diary. Ayaan (Salman Khan) lives a very wealthy lifestyle with his married brother, Karan (Mohnish Behl) and his wife, Anju; a younger sister, Avni (Amneek Sandhu), and younger brother, Rahul; his mom Isha (Reema Lagoo), and grandma (Neena Kulkarni). The house is very traditional and God fearing, but also very loving and very supportive of each other. Bunty (Aasif Sheikh) is Ayaan's best friend and works with him.

Ayaan runs a garage. One day he meets the beautiful model, Ahana (Shilpa Shetty), and falls head over heels in love with her. He meets Ahana at a sari store where Ahana has bought an expensive sari for a party, while Ayaan was looking for a good Sari for Avni's birthday. They run into each other and their bags get exchanged. Back at home, Ayaan realizes the mistake, but by then the Sari was already opened by Avni and she loved it, so Ayaan let it go.

Ahana lives with her dad Mr. Kapoor (Shakti Kapoor) and mom Pammi (Supriya Karnik). Pammi is very money and status minded, while her dad is more down to earth. Ahana blames the Sari store for cheating her and she hates cheaters.

Ayaan runs into Ahana at his gym and leers at her. Unfortunately, Mr. Kapoor was also at the gym and hears everything. He learns that Ayaan is an automobile engineer with his own garage and 20 employees under him. Ayaan meets Ahana who laments that the Sari store changed her Sari after she bought it. Ahana was livid and Ayaan never corrected her. Ayaan realizes that Mr Kapoor is Ahana's father and that Ahana is into modeling.

Ayaan starts pursuing Ahana. One day Ahana brings her car to Ayaan's garage for fixing. Ahana forgets her personal diary at his garage. Through this Ayaan woos her (Changes his clothes to her favorite color white, talks the same language as her, pretends to love animals as Ahana has a dog named Tuffy, same favorite restaurants, same favorite sports, actors, hill station), wins her heart and Ahana proposes to Ayaan, and they get married. Ayaan carelessly throws the diary under his dressing drawers.

Pammi is not happy as Ayaan is a simple garage owner, but Ahana convinces her as Ayaan's family is very wealthy. Rammi (Kunika Lal) is Pammi's sister, who has already divorced her husband. Meanwhile, Ayaan and Bunty convince his family that Ahana is a very homely and religious girl, who will care for the whole family.

Ahana soon finds out that despite Ayaan's wealth, his family is very conservative and tradition-bound. On the very first night Ahana welcomes Ayaan into the room in a super teeny tiny nightie on their honeymoon night, which embarrasses Karan and Anju. She comes down the next morning in the same clothes, which shocks everyone in the house. Ayaan tells Ahana not to wear revealing clothes outside of their bedroom. Ayaan wants to go to Khandala for their honeymoon, but Pammi insults them and gives them 2 tickets to London as gift.

When they return from London, Avni takes one cosmetic set which Ahana had got for herself. This makes Ahana angry. To placate Ahana, Ayaan organizes a movie date, but it backfires when Ahana is again angry as Ayaan had invited the entire family. Ahana wants to get a separate house, but Ayaan refuses.

This causes some bitterness between the newlyweds, which gets worse when Ahana becomes pregnant and wants to abort the child. While visiting her mom on their dog's birthday, Ahana has an accident which results in a miscarriage. Ayaan blames her for losing the child, but his mother convinces him, and he apologizes. Ayaan wants to marry Avni to Ahana's cousin in London, but Ahana objects saying that Avni is a traditional Indian girl, while her cousin is an independent westerner. She doesn't agree to this match, and this offends Ayaan.

Two months later, on Ahana's birthday, she finds out that Ayaan had tricked her through her diary. On the same day she finds Avni wearing the expensive sari that she had bought and had went missing from her shopping (for which she blamed the store). Ahana decides to get drunk on her birthday and expose Ayaan publicly. Ayaan slaps Ahana for her behavior, she leaves the house.

Ayaan's mother sends Ayaan to get Ahana back, but Ahana's mother intervenes and asks her to choose between her and Ayaan. Ahana stays. Ahana is once again pregnant, and Ayaan goes to court to make sure that Ahana doesn't abort the baby. He agrees to give a divorce but wants his child to be born. The court wants the couple to stay together for a year before divorce can be granted. Through courts permission, Ayaan lives with Ahana at her parents' house to keep a watch. Karan enters Ahana's house as the court appointed security guard (as disguise). Together Ayaan and Karan make sure Ahana eats healthy foods and takes regular walks. They also break up Pammi's rummy parties and kitty parties where she smokes and drinks. They also make Ahana's father realize that as the man of the house, he needs to stand up.

Ahana give birth and Ayaan proceeds on taking the newborn baby home leaving Ahana in the hospital, however, the doctor urges that the baby to stay with the mother for a few months in order for Ahana to feed the baby. But Ayaan puts the condition that the feeding will be at his house and not Ahana's.

During this time period, Ahana becomes attached to her baby and doesn't want to leave the family anymore, however, Ayaan wants nothing to do with Ahana and kicks her out of the house. Pammi and Ahana's dad have come to receive her. Ahana wants to stay with her baby, but Pammi stops her. Ahana's dad finally intervenes and slaps Pammi twice and says he will not allow her to destroy his daughter's life for her own ego. Finally, Ayaan realizes his and Ahana her mistake and the movie ends with them planning for another baby.
