- Karl Platen wurde am 6 März 1877 in Deutschland geboren. Er war Schauspieler und Kameramann, bekannt für M: Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder (1931), Frau im Mond (1929) und Anna Boleyn (1920). Er starb am 4 Juli 1952 in Weimar, German Democratic Republic.
- Incisive German character actor. On stage from 1896, and from 1906 to 1944 based at various theatres in Berlin. In films from early silents, immensely busy throughout the 1920's, 30's and 40's, often in prestige pictures by renowned directors, including Joe May, Ernst Lubitsch and Fritz Lang.
- His first movies can be backdated to 1913 where he appeared in "Ein Ausgestossener: 1. Teil - Der junge Chef" and "Das verschleierte Bild von Gross-Kleindorf". From 1919 he became a very busy film actor who took part in many big productions.
- The actor Karl Platen took part in many great movie productions during his long film career.
- He could continue his career smoothly in the sound film era and acted in "M - Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder" (1931), "Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse" (1933), and "Die Feuerzangenbowle" (1943).
