Directed by Harry Sparks, Scissors is a quirky, low-budget slasher currently available to watch on Tubi. Starring adult film actress Jill Kassidy in a lead role, the film embraces the spirit of old-school horror with a nostalgic, DIY charm. While it doesn’t completely succeed in its ambitions, Scissors still offers enough intrigue and campy fun to entertain fans of indie horror.

The Pitch: Writer and director Kevin Smith brings his brand of crass but heartfelt comedy to a romantic story about two best friends, Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) who decide to make a porn film as a last-ditch effort to pay their rent and utility bills. While Smith usually prefers his performers to stick to the script because he writes such great dialogue, working with a bunch of actors who had come from the Judd Apatow world of improv acting allowed him to loosen up his storytelling style and let his performers go wild. The result is a heartwarming, absolutely hilarious romantic comedy that also might be one of the filthiest and most wholesome movies ever made. 

As Zack and Miri try to make their movie, they meet a ragtag crew of sweet deviants who help them.

On Monday, October 20, Hollywood saw a considerably eventful evening with the Los Angeles premiere of "Zack and Miri Make a Porno". Rolling out red carpet in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater, the Weinstein Company have come out with a special screening of the Kevin Smith's R-rated comedy.

Though the event wasn't highlighted with any unique setting, it still saw many celebrities walking by the signature special event carpet. Among the attendees were some of the cast ensemble, Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Justin Long, Brandon Routh, Traci Lords, Craig Robinson, Jason Mewes, Katie Morgan and Ricky Mabe, and the director/writer Smith.

Apart from the cast and filmmaker, Hollywood guest celebrities joining the special evening event included "Heroes" star Ali Larter, "My Wife and Kids" actress Tisha Campbell-Martin, "Scrubs" actress Sarah Chalke, "Borat" actor Ken Davitian, "What Happens in Vegas..." actress Krysten Ritter, and former Miss U.S.A. Susie Castillo.

After Kevin Smith’s casting of “Whore of the Rings” star Katie Morgan in his “Zack & Miri Make A Porno” comes news that Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh has cast porn star Sasha Grey as the lead in his upcoming feature, “The Girlfriend Experience.” Variety reports that the low-budget drama, currently shooting in Gotham, chronicles the life of a high-price call girl, is part of Soderbergh’s six-pic deal with multimedia entrepreneur Mark Cuban. Pic was written by “Ocean’s 13” scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien and will bow under the Magnolia Pictures shingle. The 20-year-old Grey entered the skin biz just after her 18th birthday and has appeared in scores of XXX flicks. In January she became the youngest recipienct of Avn’s Female Performer of the Year award. Last year it was Paramount's turn with Iron Man. Many, such as myself, were hesitant to believe a metal suit of armor could fly. The Office's Craig Robinson and former porn star Traci Lords have joined Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks and Jason Mewes in Kevin Smith's Zack & Miri Make a Porno.

Ricky Mabe (ABC Family's Beautiful People), Jeff Anderson (Clerks II) and Katie Morgan (HBO's Katie Morgan: A Porn Star Revealed) have also joined the film, which is being produced through The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films. Production is set to begin Wednesday.

The story centers around two lifelong friends -- Zack and Miri -- who after finding themselves deep in debt enlist their friends to make a pornographic movie with the goal of earning some quick cash.

Michael Cole and Carla Gardini are overseeing the project for TWC and Dimension Films.

The film marks the latest collaboration between Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Smith and producer Scott Mosier. Their previous projects include Clerks, Clerks II, Chasing Amy and Dogma.
