1997 UEFA Champions League, Newcastle 3-2 Barcelona – Where Are They Now?
Owen Humphreys/Pa Archive/Press Association Images

The day that Faustino Asprilla single-handedly destroyed Barcelona lives long in the memory of Newcastle United fans. The match turned the bendy-legged Columbian into a cult hero despite him only scoring two goals in 10 games throughout the rest of the 1997-98 season.

Asprilla who did score an impressive nine goals in eleven European matches was sold back to Parma at the end of the season for £6 million but his performance on Wednesday, September 17th, 1997, will never be forgotten. Barcelona – who were managed by Louis van Gaal and won the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Super Cup titles that season – couldn’t handle ‘Tino’s’ sublime skills and his 22-minute hat-trick was the perfect reward for an exceptional night at St James’ Park.

Asprilla scored after 26, 30 and 48 minutes. The first was a penalty he won himself, the others headers from excellent crosses by a rejuvenated Keith Gillespie.

'Ip Man 3': Bruce Lee Estate Tries to Stop CGI Apperance
Bruce Lee in Todesgrüße aus Shanghai (1972)
Last week, we reported that the sequel Ip Man 3 has cast former boxing champ Mike Tyson alongside Donnie Yen. The production also announced that they will use a CGI rendering of Bruce Lee, as opposed to casting an actor to play the martial arts icon. Today, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Bruce Lee's family is trying to stop his name, likeness and story from being used in director Wilson Yip's movie.

2010's Ip Man and 2011's Ip Man 2 are both based on the true story of Ip Man (Donnie Yen), the martial arts master who created the style known as Wing Chun, whose most famous student was Bruce Lee. The first two movies did not feature Bruce Lee as a character, focusing on Ip Man's early years in China. The producers could not find a suitable actor to play Bruce Lee on screen in Ip Man 3, so...

'The Voice' recap: The blind auditions continue amid a flurry of bum notes
It's week two of Season 6 of "The Voice" and the blind auditions continue along. Those teams aren't going to fill themselves, after all. So who did coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turn around for on Monday (March 3)? Not too many, it felt like. Without further ado, let's get to it.

First up is Ryan Whyte Maloney, a trash collector and father of two from Las Vegas whose ex-wife took his kids and moved them to Florida, which is one of the sadder stories I've heard in a while. He takes the stage with Journey's "Lights" and he sounds really great. He gets a four-chair turn, easily.

"We're a match made in Heaven and I think we should be together," Shakira tells him. Ryan's response: "I'm gonna keep that in my memory forever." In the end, though, he makes his choice with his kids in mind: "I have...

Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp | Review
Bad Influence: Godfather Of Modern Hustle Still Leaving Back Handed Impressions

Leaving a legacy of pimp ideology behind, the legendary pimp and author Iceberg Slim wrote numerous culturally influential books that showed the underbelly of urban society with a raw authenticity and conversational style that continues to shape life on the streets to this day. Jorge Hinojosa’s directorial debut, Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp, draws on his hip hop managerial roots to seek insight into Slim’s significance in not only rap culture, but the literary and comedy worlds as well, all the while delving deep into his widely unknown upbringing through family discussions and a few rare interviews with the legend himself.

Slim, born Robert Lee Maupin and later changed to Robert Beck, grew up during the Great Depression in a broken home with less than dazzling career prospects, but thanks to his own empowered charm...

Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp - Movie Review
If the subject interests you, buy and read a couple of Iceberg.s books. This film is for entertainment only, although there is substantial entertainment to be had. Robert Lee Maupin was born in Chicago in 1918 and grew up in the bowels of some of the worst ghettos in America. Several decades later, he was drinking at a bar when a man pulled a gun in anger and fired a shot. The shot was aimed at the man next to the gunslinger. It missed its intended target and went through the hat of Maupin, who was standing about six feet away. Maupin stood still, to the amazement of those around him, and did not flex a muscle. He was named...

Young Bruce Lee: DVD review
Director: Raymond Yip and Manfred Wong. Review: Adam Wing. Young Bruce Lee takes us back to the early days of a martial arts legend, seen through the eyes of his younger brother Robert. Robert Lee participated in the production of the film, which focuses primarily not on the fighting, but on the Lee family growing up. Produced by Manfred Wong (The Storm Riders) who also co-directed with Raymond Yip, Young Bruce Lee casts Aarif Lee as the legend-to-be. Aarif is no stranger to success either, having taken home the Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Performer for his scene-stealing debut in the period drama Echoes of the Rainbow. He is joined by the likes of Tony Leung, Christy Chung, and Jennifer Tse (Nicholas Tse's sister) appearing in her big screen debut. Bruce Lee was still a baby when his famous father, Cantonese opera artist Lee Hoi Chuen (Tony Leung...

Bruce Lee, My Brother (2010) Movie Review #2
Produced to coincide with the 70th anniversary of his birth, “Bruce Lee, My Brother” is a part-fictionalised biopic of the legendary star, based upon the memoirs of his younger brother Robert Lee, who was himself involved with the writing of the script. The film was directed by Manfred Wong (“The Storm Riders”) and Raymond Yip (“Anna in Kung Fu Land”), and endeavours to tell the story of Lee’s generally less well known early years. Charged with doing justice to the weighty role of one of the most popular and internationally recognisable stars of all time is Aarif Lee, who recently impressed with his award winning turn in “Echoes of the Rainbow”, with a supporting cast that includes Tony Leung Ka Fai, Christy Chung, and Jennifer Tse. Beginning from the very beginning with his birth in San Francisco in 1940, the film follows Bruce Lee, or Phoenix (Aarif Lee) as he was then nicknamed,...

Bruce Lee, My Brother (2010) Movie Review
Take away the fact that “Bruce Lee, My Brother” is a Bruce Lee bio pic and is based on the memoirs of Robert Lee, little brother of Bruce, and you would be left with a (mostly) happy-go lucky story of a Chinese kid growing up in 1960s Hong Kong, with a segment here and there showing various moments of major historical significance that transpires parallel to our hero’s mostly unremarkable life. Of course, this is not a movie about any ol Chinese kid; it’s about Bruce Lee – arguably the most famous Chinese actor/man/martial artist in the 20th century. Unfortunately, if you went into the film expecting just that – the film about the legend – you will leave very disappointed. Bruce Lee does not even learn Wing Chun until nearly 75 minutes into the film, and he does not even fight anyone using his newfound skills until 90 minutes into the two-hour movie.

Special Features: 'Bruce Lee, My Brother' (Chinese Release)
Chinese director Raymond Yip's Bruce Lee, My Brother (2010) is not the high kicking martial arts amalgamation one might expect from the title, but instead takes a sentimental journey from the renowned actor's childhood through to his late teen years, and is adapted from a book written by his younger brother, Robert Lee. Told with intimate detail only a family member could recount, we are shown the untold story of Asia’s most cherished martial artist.

Born to a wealthy mother Grace Ho (Christy Chung), and fathered by the famous Chinese opera performer Lee Hoi Cheun (Tony Leung Ka-fai), Bruce Lee - played here by Aarif Lee - grew up under the name "Phoenix", after his grandmother decided upon a name which would rise out of the fire of war-ravaged Hong Kong.

Constantly in trouble for his confrontational nature and consequently disciplined by his despairing parents, Bruce spent his youth...

'Fallout: New Vegas' System Requirements Revealed For PC
"Fallout: New Vegas" will have cyborg dog companions, gambling achievements and an introduction narrated by Ron Perlman, but as with all games on the PC, it will also demand a few things from your machine. There's good news, too, because the minimum hardware specs listed shouldn't require anything too brand new or top-of-the-line.

"'Fallout: New Vegas' is officially finished and off to manufacturing," Bethesda Softworks community manager Nick Breckon wrote on the Bethesda Blog. That means they know exactly what the graphics are going to need, and this is what you'll want to have:

• Os: Windows 7/Vista/Xp

• Processor: Dual Core 2.0 GHz processor

• Memory: 2 Gb Ram, 10 Gb hard drive space

• Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 6 Series or Ati 1300Xt series

Unsurprisingly, "New Vegas" will also be enhanced for multi-core processors, according to little chart Breckon posted. In other news, if you click on over to his entry you'll note that "New...

Bruce Lee Trilogy on the Way
A series of projects about martial arts legend and movie star Bruce Lee are in development, including a three-part biopic and a documentary about his life. The latter would be shown exclusively in Lee’s home-turned-museum, which was donated to the Hong Kong government earlier this year.

The first of the three Bruce Lee movies is scheduled to start shooting in October with actor Tony Leung Ka-fai playing the legend's father. It is scheduled for release on November 27, 2010, which marks the 70th anniversary of Lee's birth. The estimated cost is 50 million yuan ($7.3 million).

Variety reports the film, which is being produced by Li Chen and Manfred Wong for release by China's J.A. Media, has the cooperation of the Lee family, many of whom appeared at a press conference for the project on Monday.

"We've read many books and seen many movies about Bruce Lee, but there are many inaccuracies in them,...

The siblings of Bruce Lee have authorized a three-part biopic about the famous martial artist.  Lee died at the age of 32 from brain swelling 36 years ago on Monday July 20, though the exact details about his death are still the subject of controversy.

His brother, Robert Lee, said the purpose was to provide a more factual, authoritative account of his life and believes their are too many inaccuracies in the existing books and movies.

“It wasn’t immediately clear” to the Hollywood Reporter who would play Bruce Lee in the film.  Tony Leung Ka-fai will play Lee’s father, Lee Hoi-Chuen.  No director has been hired for the October start date and a scheduled release date of November 27, 2010, the 70th anniversary of Bruce Lee’s birth.

Producers say they are planning at least three installment with the first to tackle the teenage years.  They assure fans there will be plenty of kung fu,...

Three Bruce Lee Biopics Approved
The family of martial arts legend Bruce Lee have approved a series of biopics chronicling his life, according to the BBC. Bruce Lee’s older sister and younger brother have given the go ahead for the films about the star, whose films included Enter the Dragon and Fists of Fury.

Phoebe and Robert Lee said they wanted to produce a historically accurate account of their brother’s life.

Producer Manfred Wong has said that at least three movies will be produced, with the first movie focusing on Lee’s teenage years.

Another Bruce Lee Bio-Pic in the Works
You might be asking what's wrong with the first Bruce Lee bio-pic, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story? My answer is, not much, really. I mean, it's a bio-pic so it has its disappointments, but I thought Jason Scott Lee was good. But we're about to get another Bruce Lee movie anyway.

The project is conceived as a trilogy, which would seem entirely too self-indulgent if this weren't a Hong Kong production about one of its national treasures, even though Lee was born in San Francisco.

He's like the Beatles of Hong Kong, so I don't have any problem with this in the first place and the addition of Leung (the Tony Leung from the...

Meadows Scares Up Rights for Beware the Devil
Filmmaker Shane Meadows ( Dead Man's Shoes ) is going to raise a lil' hell with his next film, Beware the Devil . He tells Empire Magazine, "It's based on a book of the same name, based on the life of a guy who, by getting involved with Ouija boards and the occult by trying to disprove it, trying to take the piss out of it, got possessed, had to be exorcised, and later became an exorcist himself. The guy it happened to has died, but his son's a novelist, and he helped him turn it into a book before he passed away, and now I'm working with him to turn it into a film." Beware the Devil: A True Story of Deliverance was written by Robert Lee and published in 1983. Meadows currently has Le Donk & Scor-zay-zee on the film festival circuit. Devil is just one a...
