His wife Marisa is a direct descendant of composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

Son Viggo was born in October 2009.

Nephew of Michael Zittel.

[2013] I unfortunately started smoking again [after 6 years]. And I am very upset about it! My roles are to blame! In recent times I had to put a cigarette or a cigar in my mouth in front of the camera every now and again, and to take drags for authenticity. Even though I did not inhale, it was a great temptation for me, considering I am a former chain smoker. The desire for a drag on a cigarette was then so great that I thought I could permit myself a single one, I'll be alright. I will quit again immediately, I will be able to bring it under control by exercising a lot, just like back then.

[2013] Most people try a thing or two in their youth. But if you grow up in such a good family as mine, you will be fine. I also had bad experiences at a very young age, I lost friends to drugs. That was a cautionary example for me.

[What do you admire your best male or female friend for?] That they can stand me.

[Which book is currently on your bedside table?] Endlich Nichtraucher! [Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking] ... it has been there for a pretty long time already.
