Has two daughters: Isabella Maria Ahrens adopted Gräfin von Faber-Castell (b. 1999) with her former boyfriend Dragan Banic, a Croatian derivative trader, and Lucia Marie Christina Gräfin von Faber-Castell (b. Berlin, 24 March 2007) with her second husband Patrick von Faber-Castell.

Born to an East German father, Reinhard Ahrens, and wife a Bulgarian mother, Svetlana "Svetla".

Married Patrick von Faber-Castell in a civil ceremony in New York City on 12 December 2006. The religious ceremony took place at the Martin Luther Kirsche of Schloss Stein, in Stein, near Nuremberg, on 7 July 2007. They separated on 5 November 2012 and divorced in 2015 "due to different views of life".

Her father is a computer specialist and her mother is an ophthalmologist.

She was a contestant on the first season of Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus! (2004) but has since gone on record that she regrets the experience as it turned out to be detrimental to her career.

She grew up in Bulgaria until she was 3 and moved to Berlin-Friedrichshain in East Germany in 1974.
