Friend of James Roday Rodriguez, who directed him in his 2004 play 'Sustenance'. Ashbrook starred in Roday's favorite show Das Geheimnis von Twin Peaks (1990) and guest-starred in the Psych (2006) episode Roday wrote as an homage to "Twin Peaks". According to Roday, Ashbrook has been instrumental in helping some of the pieces fall in place for the episode.

Wrote a road movie script called "Driven To It" with friend Robert Bauer that David Lynch offered to executive produce (in name only) in order to help them, but Ashbrook and Bauer couldn't get financing for it.

Friend of Robert Bauer, with whom he co-starred in Das Geheimnis von Twin Peaks (1990), and Kimmy Robertson.

Got his SAG card when he appeared in the 1986 episode of Cagney & Lacey (1981).
