Best Chinese/Ethnic Chinese Actors

This guy was my childhood idol. As an Asian person, he was the first Asian actor I ever saw, before Bruce, before Jackie, before Jet, before everyone. I became a fan from his Hollywood cameos, got even more amped with Ip Man, and then the masterpiece of SPL and the angry and entertaining Flash Point.

I personally prefer Donnie Yen because of nostalgia, but there is no doubting Bruce Lee's enormous influence. He paved the road for MMA, modern kung fu flicks, and for East and Southeast Asian actors to gain popularity in Hollywood. He essentially left an unforgettable legacy.

I'm so glad he's gaining popularity in Western countries. In the Mood For Love, A City of Sadness, and Infernal Affairs are all great movies, and he turns out great, believable performances in all of them.

Bro, how was JET LI not gonna end up on this list? He can throw punches and kicks cleaner than a newly-mopped floor, turn out decent performances in almost all his movies, and basically charm the audience with whatever he has to say.

Give this man a toothpick and two loaded pistols.

He's Jackie Chan. Enough said.

Holy crap, Louis Koo's emotional range is insane, especially when he's conveying frustration, desperation, or sadness. His intensity in his performances is insane; Drug War was tense and had me on my toes, The White Storm was tragic and dramatic, and Paradox had him turn out a blow-us-out-of-the-water performance. I swear, he's Hong Kong's Denzel.

I think people think he's too good-looking to be a solid actor honestly. He has a natural acting ability, and I appreciate it. Also, that performance as the detective speaking Sichuanese in Dragon still has me laughing to this day.

His dramatic and fleshed out performance as Puyi was nothing short of outstanding. Lone has both looks and talent, and it serves him well.

Holy hell that performance in the White Storm got me so good. Even the one in The White Storm 3 (which is kinda meh) got me hopping in excitement.

Ziyi works so freaking well in dramas. I don't know how she does it, but any drama she's in gets elevated from her performance. It's crazy.

It's Gong Li man. She has a defined appeal to her characters and performance, and she also is...hot. Hot as hell.

Her characters are almost always fun to watch, from Shu in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Ng in Yes Madam, or Evelyn in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Damn man, this guy is so good. With his signature Northern Chinese accent, Honglei's characters often can go from completely chilled and relaxed to barking, unchecked, and uncontrolled terrors.

His voice has this commanding and charismatic aura around it, and he can essentially pull the audience in with what he has to say.

Those performances in SPL and SPL 2 still get my praise.

Not to be confused with the other Tony Leung, Ka Fai is still impressive, charismatic, and sometimes, even a little funny.

Collin went from low-budget, cheesy, dumb fun kung fu flicks to freaking Flash Point and the Matrix: Reloaded. Great stuff from a very solid actor.

From romantic dramas, to comedies, to kick-ass Donnie Yen/Jet Li style movies, Daniel Wu is an impressive actor with an impressive set of skills.

Andy Lau often plays this very agitated, stressed character, and I like it.

He and Sanada carried Mortal Kombat 2021 on their backs with their performances and fight scenes. Taslim also had a very emotional and admirable performance in The Night Comes For Us, and a solid one with the Raid too. And Li Yong in Warrior...damn Li Yong was very well-portrayed.

He can be serious, funny, and his performance as Shang-Chi was honestly underrated. I know he's gotten a little hate, but I personally see him as a very entertaining actor.

I can't even lie, even if it she only lasted a few minutes on screen, she was absolutely great in The Creator.
