- A nine year old boy is struggling to accept his parents' divorce, while also dealing with his own loss of innocence.
- Jack Demski (Adam McCort) is a kid who is desperate to come up with the money for a life-saving operation for his dying dog Keesha, and to help his Dad fix his 1980 Dodge Dart, both of which Jack's family can't afford after Jack's Dad lost the family savings due to his gambling problem. Jack decides to make a short mockumentary film about his older cousin Albin Kowalski (David McCort), a hockey player on the high school hockey team who desperately wants to make it in the NHL, but Jack knows Albin has no chance of reaching his goal. Jack plans to submit the film at his cousin's expense to the upcoming Manitoba Ukrainian Film Festival which is a very popular event among the Ukrainian community and sure to bring shame upon his cousin Albin. Jack believes if he can make the funniest film he will win the film festival prize money, which will be more than enough to save his dog Keesha and his Dad's dignity by getting the family car back on the road. The only problem is that Jack knows just as little about filmmaking as Albin does about being a great hockey player.
