In the 1920s, he gets to know Traudl Soleder, daughter of a bourgeois family whose brother Kurt fights against the up and coming Nazi movement. After their wedding, Traudl's bugging mother also moves in. When Hitler comes into power in 1933, Karl remains a police officer, but doesn't join the party, while Adolf makes a career in the law. Meanwhile, Kurt's situation worsens because he is married to Sara, a Jewess from Berlin. During World II, the Grandauers' sons Rudi and Max become soldiers and their parents lose their flat during an air raid. They barely survive, while Adolf loses his wife and children except one son. In the post-war era, Kurt and Sara, as victims of the Nazi system, have many benefits, but also have to live with the same people who harassed them before. They drift apart more and more, but after Kurt is nearly killed in a car accident, they move to Berlin together. Karl and Traudl mourn for their allegedly killed son Rudi who suddenly returns and wants to catch up on his youth. Meanwhile, his brother marries the daughter of a former Nazi. The story ends on New Year's Eve 1954: the whole family is reunited, but something seems to be wrong with Traudl's old mother.

When Marlene's mother dies, the clan of women moves into an inherited semi-detached house with a garden and shed. The busy, musically talented girls immediately enthusiastically took possession of the premises. Everything could be perfect. If it weren't for the neighbor Henri Schaaf, who has also just moved in, a composer who is in a creative crisis after the death of his brother and partner Frank. The musician has qualities that are rare in men: he is sensitive, has a flair for beauty - and would never think of leaving his dirty socks lying around. But the upcoming premiere of his musical, which is still missing the top hit, puts Henri under stress. Andreas, who is overwhelmed as a father, shows up at Josef's door looking for help. Together, Josef and Andreas develop unexpected baby-sitting skills: Little Elisabeth is apparently exactly what the (house) men have been missing in their lives so far. The two indulge in pure harmony. People even think about homosexuality - purely hypothetically. As the carousel continues to turn and Roman begins an affair with Barbara, Josef and Andreas quickly move the salon lion out of their own four walls. Now the chaos is complete: Barbara wants her child back and Roman wants his fancy apartment. Three men, a woman and a baby - can that work?

The cunning entrepreneur Baron von Aschleben also believes that Tatjana is the future Senator for Justice - and tries to charm the young woman using every trick in the book. The likeable Sonne journalist Bert Schubert, on the other hand, sees through Tatjana's little imposture. But instead of letting her be exposed, he starts a series of photo reports that show the alleged politician in extremely compromising situations. However, Tatjana's clever mix-up game has unpleasant consequences: Baron von Aschleben, who gave her an expensive ring, wants to take her to court for fraud with Rebekka's help. Tatjana is forced to seek help from Rebekka's law firm partner Rainer Krappe. With the active support of Bert Schubert, Krappe begins to research Tatjana. He makes a discovery that will fundamentally change both Tatjana and Rebekah's lives.

After the initial shock is over, Sabrina asks lawyer Robert Clajus for help. The stunned woman learns from him that the youth welfare office will put little Laura in a home as soon as it finds out about the test results - and she herself may have to expect a complaint about child abduction. But although Clajus and his client find out through adventurous detective work that Laura was mixed up in the hospital after the birth, and they even manage to locate Sabrina's biological daughter, the authorities are merciless. After an unsuccessful escape from the police, little Laura ends up in the home and Sabrina in custody. Now only the legal skill of Robert Clajus, who has long since fallen in love with his client, can save the messed up situation. He does manage to get Sabrina out on bail, but whether she will ever get her child back will only be shown at a court hearing.

While Charlotte keeps forging new plans to help her daughter find love, Maja begins to be interested in the life of her father Otto von Wiesenthal, who died at an early age. Her mother had always praised the man highly. Maja is all the more shocked when, during research, she discovers that Otto von Wiesenthal cannot possibly be her biological father.
