Everyone knows that former US President Donald Trump has been found guilty on all 34 felony charges, and he is currently one of the most talked-about people in the industry. Although Trump is not a member of the entertainment industry – he did appear in several movies and had a reality show of his own – the whole industry is talking about him and his conviction. Although most of them rightfully criticized the former President, there were some who stood behind him, like the Quaid brothers or Jon Voight. One of the most recent additions to the list of celebrities who have commented on Trump is legendary talk show host John Oliver, who said the following (in short): “A New York businessman got into some legal trouble, which was undeniably fun to watch unfold live.”

Nobody Tell Modi About Opposite Snakes
Prankish silliness in the service of actual news is an art that John Oliver has mastered over Last Week Tonight‘s 11 seasons, even if some nights’ darkest deep dives into serious subject matter make the comic juxtaposition a little difficult.
Which brings us to Last Week Tonight‘s main story this week about the seemingly inevitable reelection of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a third term. As Oliver noted, Modi has been in power so long that he was the subject of the very first ever Last Week Tonight main story back on April 27, 2014. In his typically encyclopedic examination of Modi’s stranglehold on power over some 1.4 billion people, the host showed how the Indian Pm has increasingly utilized authoritarian tactics, including press censorship, legal intimidation of opponents, and the old standby of fear-mongering anti-Muslim xenophobia to secure power in the hands of his governing Bharatiya Janata Party,...

The Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery cast has added another couple of movie stars to its roster – and one of their names rhymes with Clenn Glose…
Rian Johnson’s next stab at the murder mystery format is sprinting headlong towards production, with another famous face or two joining an already starry cast.
After a week with slightly chaotic casting reports flying all over the place, we’re getting a much better idea of what Wake Up Dead Man – the third in Johnson’s beloved Knives Out Mystery franchise – is going to look like. Challengers’ Josh O’Connor and Civil War's Cailee Spaeny were first to join our list of suspects, followed swiftly by Kerry Washington and Andrew Scott.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter are, er, reporting that Johnson’s fleshing the cast out with some proper Hollywood royalty in the form of Glenn Close. Cruella Deville swapping barbs with Moriarty?...

Masashi Kishimoto is never short on brilliant characters. In fact, the unrivaled backstories of some characters are what makes Naruto as famous as it is. Yet, not even Kishimoto is immune to silly plot mistakes.
Thankfully, he had an editor who could catch such errors before they could reach the public. One such silly idea struck Kishimoto while he was constructing the past Hokage in Naruto.

The Arrowverse has always been a place of different possibilities no matter how bizarre they may seem. Each hero had their own standing and story to tell. While some ended on a bittersweet note, others found their footing in one way or another. Each story went down its own path with either major or minor crossovers taking place from time to time.

John Oliver trolled Donald Trump on Last Week Tonight after the former Potus said he had created a new nickname for corn.
The HBO late-night show host dedicated Sunday’s episode to corn and noted the way politicians pander to the corn farmers.
“There is a long history of American politicians being weird around corn,” Oliver said, mentioning Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, and George W. Bush.
Oliver gave Trump the honor of being the weirdest discussing corn cutting to a clip of the 2024 presidential hopeful during a Maga rally in New Hampshire.
“I just met non-liquid gold, you know where it was? Iowa! It’s called corn,” Trump said in the clip. “You have more non-liquid gold. They said, ‘What is that?’ I said, ‘Corn!’ They said, ‘We love that idea.'”

Stephen King has been terrifying his audience since his first full-length novel, Carrie, released in 1974. The world has come to know him as the ‘King of Horror’ and rightfully so. Whether it is the story of a sinister presence in an empty hotel or the trauma caused by Pennywise, the author sure knows how to keep his readers up at night. His books have been adapted into films which are equally, if not more, petrifying.
It (2017) based on Stephen King’s namesake novel | New Line Cinema
However, the question is, is there anything that terrifies the man who has made scaring others into a living? Well, there might be one such film out there. Released in 1999, The Blair Witch Project is a unique take on the horror genre that uses the found-footage technique to scare its audience, including Stephen King who had to turn his screen off without watching it to the end.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has arguably gone to great lengths to balance its magic system, making sure that each classical element had some edge over the other so that fight scenes between multiple elements could be more dynamic. However, one scene that has been making the rounds on Reddit, has gotten fans thinking about whether firebending might have an edge over metalbending after all.
Toph Beifong as the Blind Bandit | Nickelodeon Avatar: The Last Airbender
Metalbending was discovered about halfway through the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender by Toph, which means that there might not have been many opportunities for the bending art to face a more established element in the world of Avatar like Fire. However, one scene in the show might have cued some fans in about how the element would fare against it, after all.

Jim Backus' first major acting gig was playing a snotty millionaire named Dexter Hayes on the 1940 radio serial "Society Girl." This was to kick off a decades-long career in radio, film, and television, wherein Backus invented multiple indelible characters that remain a part of the pop fabric to this very day. He appeared on "The Jack Benny Program" and even briefly had his own TV show, "The Jim Backus Show" in 1957. He famously played the voice of Mr. Magoo from 1949 until his death in 1989, and starred in "Rebel Without a Cause." He was adept at playing clueless weirdos and self-absorbed egotists, although he had a great deal of comedic range. Be sure to listen to his hit comedy single "Delicious!" sometime. He elicits laughter without saying anything. I could list more credits, but we'd be here all day; Backus starred in over 100 films and shorts, and several dozen TV shows.

After the three triumphant Tennant/Tate specials, I’ll confess that “The Church on Ruby Road” left me feeling slightly apprehensive. While an effective showcase for Ncuti Gatwa’s charisma, as a forecast for the new era I found it to be overly frenetic, bordering on slapdash. Christmas specials are always going to be broader affairs, but this one frequently felt like a first draft held together with little more than the raw enthusiasm of all involved.
Happily, “Space Babies” is more solid in every respect. It’s well structured, economical and – crucially – very entertaining. And while I doubt it will be topping many all-time favourite lists, that’s fine, because that’s not really its job.

Last Week Tonight can’t stop collecting awards—even outside Emmy season.
John Oliver’s HBO show just won its third Peabody Award, this time for an episode covering the Israel-Hamas War.
The program was among 27 nominees announced last month in the Arts, Children’s/Youth, Entertainment, and Interactive & Immersive categories. The nomination specifically recognized the November 2023 episode titled “Israel-Hamas War.”
In announcing the show’s win today, The Peabody Awards Board of Jurors wrote: “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver offered an important corrective to the media landscape awash in misinformation and decontextualized vitriol just weeks after October 7,” it said. “Though ostensibly a ‘comedy’ show, Last Week offered one of the best encapsulations of the conflict in all of media.”
Oliver’s show is now 3-for-3 at the Peabody Qwards. It was nominated and won in 2015, and again in 2018.

Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Fallout franchise or a new viewer that joined the club after watching Prime Video’s TV show, you’re well-aware that Vault-Tec Vaults were much more than just a way to save human civilization in case of a global nuclear war — they were controlled grounds for experiments on humans.
But while some of those experiments were reasonably tame, others were downright monstrous… And one particular Vault can prove devastating in Fallout Season 2.
Lucy MacLean Loves Herself a Good Vault
One of Fallout’s main characters, Lucy MacLean has been a certified Vault Dweller for her entire life — until the moment she bravely ventured outside to find her father. Like most of her fellow Vault Dwellers, she had no idea about Vault-Tec’s experiments, and in her eyes, Vaults remained safe and picture-perfect places.
She did learn some portion of the truth in Vault 4, but largely,...

John Oliver used his opening segment on Sunday’s Last Week Tonight to talk about the “hard crackdown” on college students in the U.S. protesting the Israel-Hamas war.
He showed clips from a live Fox News report at Columbia University in New York.
“Police swarmed campuses in numbers so extreme; this student summed it up pretty well,” he said.
The clip started out with a reporter asking a student protestor, “What do you think about the NYPD moving in?”
Replied the student: “It’s insane. We have a right to protest. We have a right. Look at that. That’s fucking crazy.”
The reporter then asked: “What are you gonna do if you get arrested?”
The student replied: “I can’t really do much.”
The reporter pressed on: “Will you go with the police if they make an arrest?”
Shrugged the student: “I guess so.”

John Oliver was back on Last Week Tonight after taking a week off and dinged Fox News over their coverage of college students protesting the war in Gaza.
Oliver highlighted the coverage the student protests have been getting on cable news networks and highlighted a particular moment on Fox News as they reported from Columbia University.
In the clip, the Fox News reporter asks a student what they thought about the NYPD moving in on the protestors.
“It’s insane. We have a right to protest,” the student said. “Look at that, it’s f***ing crazy.”
Oliver zeroed in on the reporter asking the student what they were going to do when the police started arresting them.
“What am I going to do? I can’t really do much,” the student said.
The reporter then followed up, asking, “Are you going to go with the police if they make arrests?...

HBO is continuing to tinker with its YouTube strategy for Last Week Tonight.
Two months after angering fans (and apparently John Oliver himself) when it decided to delay its traditional next-day posting of the Sunday night show’s main segment til later in the week, HBO has begun posting full episodes of Last Week Tonight to YouTube. There is a catch, however–those full episodes are a decade old, at least to start.
The entire first season of Last Week Tonight landed on YouTube for free viewing Sunday night, with more apparently on the way.
The show posted a promotional video announcing the full season drop earlier in the weekend, promising that Seasons 2-8 are also on their way. (Those hoping to watch full episodes from the show’s most recent three seasons will still need a Max subscription here in the U.S.)

HBO is releasing the entire first season of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on YouTube.
The premium cable network didn’t air a new episode of the weekly talk show on Sunday, April 28 but instead dropped all of Season 1 for viewers to watch for free.
“There’s no new episode this week! But we still have current events. From 10 years ago. This Sunday we’ll be dropping all of season 1 for free on YouTube!” read a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Seasons 2-8 to come, whenever we don’t have a new episode. Trust us, some of this is still completely relevant. Some.”

The Legend of Korra has perfectly continued the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If the original animated series introduced the world, the spin-off built upon it to a degree no one saw coming. One of the most explored aspects was that of bending; more specifically, how much more one could do as a bender.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
During Aang’s time, it was as though we were shown only the tip of the iceberg. However, by the time Korra comes around, it is as though everything becomes more and more advanced. Suddenly, earthbenders and firebenders are also taking part in medicine, and airbenders could propel themselves like cannonballs.

Hunter x Hunter has been one of the most popular anime since the late 1990s. After Yu Yu Hakusho’s success, Yoshihiro Togashi decided to venture into an action-packed adventurous manga. Eventually, it became a popular manga and was adapted into anime in 1999. It went on for only four seasons and came to a sudden stop. Later, the manga was re-adapted into an anime in 2011 and gained worldwide popularity.
The Chimera Ant arc became a fan-favorite arc due to the inclusion of dark elements into the Shounen manga. There have been several fan theories relating to Hunter x Hunter. One of the popular theories surrounding Kite, who made his anime debut in the initial stage of the Chimera Ant. The theory claims that he was the reason behind Gon Freecs transforming into adult Gon.

John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight is now a three-time Peabody Award nominee, and the only late-night show to be recognized by the prestigious organization this year
Earlier today The Peabody Awards Board of Jurors announced this year’s 27 nominees in the Arts, Children’s/Youth, Entertainment, and Interactive & Immersive categories, and Last Week Tonight’s November 2023 episode “Israel-Hamas War” made the list.
The episode is described by the Peabodys as “clear-eyed,” and recognizes Oliver’s own statement from the show that “any conversation around [the war] has to begin with empathy.”
This won’t be the first go-round for Last Week Tonight at the Peabodys. The show is 2-for-2 in Peabody nominations and wins. It won its first in 2015, and again in 2018.
If a third win feels like a stretch, it’s worth keeping in mind that Oliver and team have also won every Emmy Award the show’s ever been nominated for–sixteen in all.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra and its predecessor Avatar: The Last Airbender draw a lot from real-world politics for a kid’s show. Dealing with issues like genocide, propaganda, and war, it is not a surprise that the show took inspiration from real-world political figures to talk about the themes it explores in its sequel series, The Legend of Korra.
Amon, from The Legend of Korra
There is a particular reading of the villain for the first season of Legend of Korra that equated him with Joseph Stalin, the leader of the former Ussr. The similarities between their philosophies, which focused on the democratization or eradication of unequal social structures is something that fans have pointed out, with Amon’s goal being towards equality, which manifested in him taking away bending from benders.
Amon’s idea of equality might have had a lot in common with Stalin’s ideas of communism

Diljit Dosanjh In A Still From Amar Singh Chamkila As The Late Punjabi Singer ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Amar Singh Chamkila is getting rave reviews for being one of the best musical biopics that has come out of India. The film traced the journey of the Punjabi singer and his wife, Amarjot Kaur. However, people were surprised to see that Amarjot was the singer’s second wife.
Before hitting musical highs in the industry, Chamkila was married to a woman called Gurmail, and when the news of his second marriage broke, he was reprimanded by the Sarpanch of his village. However, the singer promised Gurmail and their son a certain amount of maintenance every month.
However, the film never shows the first wife again until his death, which might have been a creative liberty taken by Imtiaz Ali, who wanted to focus completely on the musical journey of Amar Singh Chamkila in the film.

Greg Whiteley has a new sports docuseries at Netflix that really isn’t new at all. The seven-episode (at 45-minutes apiece) “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” will premiere this summer on Netflix. The streamer first announced the series on Thursday, when it also put out a teaser (below).
Greg Whiteley… Netflix… cheerleading docuseries… Why does this all sound so familiar? Oh yeah, it’s because Whiteley is the guy behind Netflix’s two-season docuseries “Cheer” (as well as the equally excellent five-season “Last Chance U”).
Fans of “Cheer” have been not-so-patiently waiting for a third season, so… isn’t this just that? Why not call “America’s Sweethearts” what it really is: “Cheer” Season 3. That’s what we want.
There’s plenty of precedent here. While “Cheer” Seasons 1 and 2 focused on competitive collegiate cheerleading (mostly) at Navarro College (also in Texas!), Whiteley’s precursor “Last Chance U” not only changed schools — it changed sports.

Avatar: The Last Airbender, as a franchise, is always deliberate with every decision that is made. A character’s backstory, design, bending, techniques, and even their alliance, all have a part to play in the grand scheme of things. A design made by creators, Michael Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, to perfectly fit their grand puzzle.
Aang and Katara
Knowing this, there are many decisions made that fans find difficult to assign meaning to. In situations like these, the creators lend a hand in exposing the intention behind why things were made the way that they were.

One example of this, that has had fans scratching their heads since the very first season was why Katara is the only bender in the South Pole.

John Oliver took a left turn on Last Week Tonight and imagined a scenario where Stanley Tucci would be the host of the HBO late-night show.
While discussing Medicaid and everything wrong with the system, Oliver said the purpose of the show was not to make viewers feel good, otherwise it would be hosted by Stanley Tucci.
“If this show was supposed to make you feel good, it wouldn’t be hosted by me, it would be hosted by Stanley Tucci,” Oliver said as his reason for discussing hard topics affecting American citizens. “Can you imagine? You’d be watching an impossibly horny 30-minute deep dive on negronis right now.”
He continued, “That’s a better show. I wish this were that show. You wish this were that show. But guys, I’m sorry. It just isn’t.”

The Holdovers, American Fiction and Succession were among the winners at the 2024 Writers Guild Awards, which were handed out Sunday night in simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.
Best adapted screenplay was presented to American Fiction, the winner for the best adapted screenplay Oscar, while The Holdovers won the award for best original screenplay. (The winner of the best original screenplay Oscar, Anatomy of a Fall, was deemed ineligible for the WGA Awards.)
Accepting his award in L.A., Holdovers writer David Hemingson thanked “a brilliant cast and a brilliant director” for bringing the story to life and accepted “in memory of my mother who raised me, my uncle who saved me, and my father, who gave me my love of the written word and taught me the value of integrity.”
In the TV categories, The Bear won best comedy series, while Succession was named best drama series.

The David Hemingson-scripted Alexander Payne dramedy The Holdovers and Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction were the big film winners at the strike-delayed 2024 Writers Guild Awards, which were handed out Sunday in Los Angeles and New York.
Jefferson — who also was honored with the WGA West’s Paul Selvin Award — followed his Oscar win for Adapted Screenplay as the WGA’s weird, wild and elongated Awards season wrapped with simultaneous ceremonies on both coasts. Hemingson scored a modicum of revenge for losing the Original Screenplay Academy Award to Justine Triet and Arthur Harari for Anatomy of a Fall.
The latter script, however, wasn’t eligible for a Writers Guild Award. That’s because, unlike other guilds, the WGA deems ineligible any scripts for movies not produced under its Minimum Basic Agreement or a bona fide collective bargaining agreement with various affiliated countries.
Later, the Documentary prize went to Errol Morris...

Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan Box Office Opening Higher Than His Last Eid Release (Photo Credit –YouTube)
Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan could not reap benefits from his opening number despite getting the first mover advantage at the box office in the epic clash with Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The sports drama collected 7.25 crore on day 1. This number also includes the paid previews of the film.
Helmed by Amit Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor, the film was released on Eid after much delay. It was expected that positive word of mouth would turn tables at the box office, but no miracle happened when it came to numbers.
However, Ajay Devgn has fared much more with Maidaan than his last Eid release at the box office, which interestingly was also a clash. Ajay’s last Eid release was in 2022, Runway 34, which clashed with Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has become somewhat of a hot topic lately. After the wildly successful Nickelodeon TV show took the world by storm, there was a disastrous attempt to create a live-action movie in the past. But more recently, Netflix tried and was in fact successful in bringing Aang and the gang into the live-action world through their latest series.
Now, Paramount, along with Nickelodeon, are taking a stab at it to make a successful movie adaptation of the popular cartoon. The cast was recently announced, and the choice of Eric Nam to voice the adult version of the lead character isn’t sitting right with many people.

Created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s mythos is as complex as it can get, thanks to its fantasy theme. The world of the animated television series involves four nations, each with their own unique bending abilities: the Fire Nation, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, and Air Nomads.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Based on Aang, the last surviving Avatar capable of saving the Avatar world with his powers of bending all four elements, the story also focuses on Zuko. The exiled prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko shares a great bond with Aang. But surprisingly, as the mythos goes, the two characters are not just friends but actually great-grandfather and great-grandson.
Avatar Aang Might Be Zuko’s Great-Grandfather Zuko and Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Set in an Asiatic setting involving several fictional elements, Avatar: The Last Airbender also involves elements like spirits and forms of spiritual magic.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, developed by Albert Kim, is a live-action adaptation of the animated television series of the same name, created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. The live-action adaptation stars Gordon Cormier, Ian Ousley, Kiawentiio, and more.
Set in a fictional world where human civilization is divided into four nations based on the elements: water, fire, earth, and air. The story follows the adventurous journey of 12-year-old Aang, the next Avatar who can master all four elements. Katara and Sokka accompany him on his quest to save the world from the onslaught of the Fire Lord while avoiding being captured by Crown Prince Zuko. Ian Ousley once again discussed his character compared to the character from the original animated series.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender fans know just how hard it is for all the Avatars who have been bestowed with the responsibility of protecting human beings from the threats of the spirit world. While all of them exercise great strength and power to overpower evil, they also have to leave behind their own desires to fulfill their duty of serving the world.

Yet even through that, each successor of this league of heroes is connected to their predecessors throughout their lives, gaining access to their consciousness to continue to fight for what’s right. Much like Nickelodeon’s animated hit Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005), its follow-up show The Legend of Korra showcased similar elements, where the protagonist triumphs over evil and ends the show by venturing on a happy journey with their loved one. Only this time the show creators set a milestone with Korra at a great risk, to avoid future regrets.
Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra (2012)
For those who have watched, you all know what it’s about, but for the ones unaware, the milestone is about creating a female-dominated show that featured a uniquely intimate scene between a same-sex couple, Korra and Asami. Although The Legend of Korra has always been a progressive show for kids, tackling the not-so-subtle pairing was truly risky.
