Sex & Nudity

  • A PE Teacher molests female students. This doesn't happen onscreen but is referenced numerous times.
  • It's heavily implied at several points throughtout the game that certain characters have sex, including the protagonist if you choose to romance someone. None of this is ever shown.
  • In the opening of the game, the protagonist prevents a man from forcing himself onto a woman, but gets falsely arrested due to the man's political and police connections.
  • Various Personas (e.g., Succubus, Incubus) have sexual characteristics that are described in text (e.g., "They visit sleeping men/women and have sexual intercourse with them"); dialogue also includes sexual references (e.g., "Apparently he's been forcing young idols and other girls to have sex with him to move up in the ranks").
  • A man says he will make a nude picture of ann, she declines.

Violence & Gore

  • Most of the violence are against monsters who disappear into ash on death with rarely any blood unless killed by an all out attack triggered by the player. The few onscreen human deaths there are, are quite disturbing and can be bloody.
  • As players explore themed areas of the "Metaverse," they engage in turn-based combat against fantastical creatures (e.g., demons, evil spirits, shadow creatures). Characters use blades, pipes, firearms, and Personas (i.e., creatures that enable magical attacks) to defeat enemies; battles are highlighted by light effects, impact sounds, and cries of pain.
  • Some cut scenes depict characters ripping masks off their faces as blood sprays. One cut scene depicts a man shooting another character in the head at close range; blood is shown pooling on the floor and splattering the victim's clothes.

Profanity

  • The words "f**k," "sh*t," and "a*shole" appear in the dialogue.
  • The sentence Son of a bitch is used a few times by a certain character who also uses many other swear words such as asshole, bitch and ass

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The protagonist is drugged by police during his interrogation
  • Several High School students are blackmailed into selling illegal drugs by a mafia. Said drugs are never seen onscreen
  • Several adult characters smoke
  • A reporter is seen drunk almost constantly
  • Drug smuggling for the mafia is briefly discussed during a side quest (e.g., "Like illegal drugs...? Maybe they made Iida smuggle drugs for them.").

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A high school girl attempts suicide by jumping off the school roof. She survives but is hospitalised and is never seen again for the rest of the game unless the player is in the true ending.
  • A man dies horrifically on TV, with his eyes rolled up into his head and black blood pouring out of his eyes and mouth.
  • Child abuse is a recurring theme throughout the game.
  • A minor character is hospitalised with catatonic depression. She has a PTSD attack while in hospital. Pretty disturbing to watch.
  • This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of a high-school student who enters an alternate world and uses special powers to change the hearts of people in the real world.
  • Suicide is an extremely heavy topic in the game. It is brought multiple times in multiple scenarios throughout the course of the game.
  • In the velvet room, persona are fused together by guillotine, made into items by electric chair, made stronger by "lockdown" and used as strength for other personas by hanging, however this is never shown, the personas are always in bodybags, and the camera cuts away before the death happens.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Late in the game, the protagonist is shot point blank in the head before collapsing on to a desk. Extremely bloody but no gore. This is later revealed to have not actually been the protagonist but rather a cognitive version of them.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Futaba hallucinates several people blaming her for her mother's death, yelling at her and calling her a murderer as she breaks down into an anxiety attack. Quite hard to watch.
  • A high school girl's twin sister is hit and killed by a car right in front of her. The death is not shown onscreen, but the sisters reaction is.
